A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

@Reginaphalangeeeee, you are doing amazingly well and I am in awe of you. Now is the time to be kind to yourself - your mind and body is fighting on lots of fronts - the only way I think you need to pick yourself up is to realise just how awesome you are. A bump in your weight loss journey is not going to undo everything you have achieved so far; seven stones is fantastic!

I used https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-list-non-discounted-uk/ and went with one of the providers recommended for maintenance. Oddly, Curely are not on the maintenance list now, but still come up cheap on the retail list. They don't do first order discount offers, but they give 15% off on subscription (which can be cancelled any time and has no minimum term) or 5% if you just want to order a 1 off pen.

DH is with Bolt, they are a similar price to Curely and I have used them in the past too (without issue), but he keeps having problems with them charging his card for the next pen, then asking for loads more information before finally sending the pen - usually a week to a fortnight after taking the payment! In Bolt's defence, he has a cardiac condition meaning fewer pharmacies are willing to prescribe even though his cardiologist recommended Mounjaro, so his choice is limited more by who will prescribe, rather than which is the cheapest. There is no rhyme or reason to it - Numan wouldn't prescribe him, Voy have, Bolt have, Curely won't - it's a bit of a lottery! His BMI is 29 at the moment, once he gets down to a healthy BMI he thinks his choice is going to be further limited!

NSV - my doctors telephone appointment to review recent blood test results was upgraded to an "in person" appointment.

Doc was delighted with my test results - full blood testing sees ALL my results in the green, and improvements on LDL cholesterol, blood inflammation markers and other were evident. Previous full blood testing was 6 months before starting MJ.

And then the doc quizzed me about the MJ - she doesnt know much about it and was concerned about side effects etc. We had a great chat and she thanked me for educating her about MJ.

She grinned throughout my appointment and seemed genuinely delighted to see a 58 YO with all green results. I am also very pleased.

Zebracat · 16/06/2026 22:43

@RobinEllacotStrike such good news. You are a marvel. I’m thinking I need to get a blood test done because suddenly, I’m tired all the time, a bit down and craving meat.

MooBaggage · 17/06/2026 09:59

@Bunnyjo Congratulations!! You did it - I can only dream of that amazing BMI! Well done and I hope it's sinking in and you're really pleased 😃 Remind me - have you started to titrate down yet - do you have a plan in your head re: maintenance? I wish I was closer to that stage - just need to keep going and try and rustle up some patience from somewhere...!

Woohoo @Bunnyjo! You're there - bloody brilliant. 🍾👏💪Well done.

Also how wonderful @RobinEllacotStrike to have good health markers right across the board.

No loss for me this week - following the usual pattern of one week losing 1lb and then nothing the next. To be fair, I did just have a long weekend with my ds's at Centerparcs and although I was pretty active, they also drank me under the table and I ate a lot more than I usually do! The weekend was great though, so I'm happy - and I'm off to Norfolk this Friday for a week's holiday with my dp, so am anticipating no further loss probably until July..!

What I keep reminding myself of though is that as soon as I'm back from a holiday or event, I snap straight back into the good habits I've created. This would have been impossible 18 months ago. So I can get straight back to 3 x litres of water, lots of protein, minimal carbs etc. And the yoga is still working its wonders both mentally and physically.

So I have to be OK with the much slower weight loss, as everything else has come together - this last 10lbs might take another 5 months, but I'll sodding well get there!

I say no loss... I've felt so good this week I weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb - hurrah!

SW 13.1.25. 20st 3lbs BMI 43.0
CW 18.6.26 12st 6lbs BMI 25.4

Next mini target is to get to 12st 3lb, which will be a loss of 8 stone - hopefully will reach that by the end of July 😊

I love that this group always has a mix of new starters, those part way through with lovely consistent losses, and long-termers like me who are nearly there and hopefully demonstrating that although it gets much slower, it still works and you can still feel OK and able to lose weight.

I feel like a yoga pimp, but really feel like this has made a huge difference, so will keep recommending it - much like @RobinEllacotStrike and kiwis 😁 I need an emoji - maybe 🧘‍♀️😬

Norfolk for me tomorrow, for a week. Will ignore any weight gain when I get back and aim to finish June back at my current weight, with July bringing me closer to that 8 stone loss 💪💪💪

Have a great time in Norfolk @MooBaggage we had lots of lovely holidays in North Norfolk when our kids were small.

I put this NSV on the March 26 starters thread but I'll put it here too. I saw my boss in person yesterday for the first time since I started MJ back on 5/3/26. In the afternoon we had a teams call to discuss something. At the start of the call she said I hope you don't mind me saying this but you looked gorgeous today, really healthy and you've clearly lost weight! She's only the second person to comment and I was delighted!

Bunnyjo · 18/06/2026 10:15

Thank you @MooBaggage and @GiveMeWordGames. I have started titrating down, by extending the time between doses to 10 days. I had started doing this when I got to BMI 25 because it seemed easier to just extend the time between doses as I was still feeling the suppression effects.

However, I have been reading up over the last few weeks and I wonder if I should be dropping the dosage and keeping to 7 days, to maintain some sort of consistent levels of tirzepatide in my body. I know its half-life is 5 days so by day 10 there is 1/4 of the dose left in my system. The current way I am doing it doesn't seem to have any adverse effects so far but I do feel more hunger on day 9-10, which given its half-life is not surprising. I've still got 2x 15mg pens which I am counting the clicks on to dose 10mg, but maybe 7.5 every 7 days would be better and it might be easier to titrate down from that... Coming down is as complicated as going up the doses!

Have a great holiday @MooBaggage!

MoneyJo · 18/06/2026 12:52

I'm following your experience with interest @Bunnyjo in the hope I'll need to know about this in about 9 months time!

MooBaggage · 18/06/2026 12:58

Me too! I think it's a good idea to start the titration down when you hit BMI 25/24.9 - I'll do the same and was thinking of going to every 8 days, then every 9 for a couple of weeks, then moving down doseages but going back to 7 days, then 8 then 9 etc. Not sure - I'll need to create a spreadsheet (I do love a good spreadsheet!) 😄

This should now be in November for me, based on current weight loss speed - I'd initially had hope for September, but am trying to be kind to myself and allow the time my body seems to need...

Bunnyjo · 18/06/2026 13:23

I have followed so many journeys with interest, so I am glad I can return that favour, @MoneyJo and @MooBaggage. In fact, you guys still inspire me!

This WLI lark is a minefield - the funny thing was I didn't even consider extending the time between doses as titrating down. I guess, because the dose I was injecting hadn't changed, I didn't join the dots! Quite worrying when I think of the field my degree and masters is in (molecular cell biology) 😂

I love a good spreadsheet, too. That might be the perfect answer to my dose vs frequency dilemma(s)!

MooBaggage · 18/06/2026 13:55

I've definitely read online somewhere that increasing the length of time between doses is a good way to titrate down - along then with reducing dosage - of course I have no idea where I read it and at the moment don't want to get too giddy with the though of being able to do it, as it's still a few months away - but nearer the time I'll be spreadsheeting and reading up and no doubt getting myself very confused along the way 😄

I'm so pleased you've got the yoga bug @MooBaggage - I try to be very restrained so I'm not always blabbing on about it,but its truly transformational in every area of my life. My skin may be saggy but my shoulders are ripped!

See the Wegovy pills are out in "autumn". Expected to be same cost as the injections which is a bit disappointing. Come on MJ/Eli lilly!

I've been playing around with an extra day or 2 between shots as I a work out maintaining - sometimes its OK, sometimes I get a bit of food noise. But I'm largely feeling good for it.

Right I'm off to hot pod for my yoga - it will be a hot and sweaty dynamic class tonight. Yay!

MooBaggage · 18/06/2026 20:07

Yes I am slightly distressed at my sagging skin now, which seems to be getting worse with each 1lb lost now...

But I really think my posture is improving, and definitely my arms and legs strength. And I look forward to doing it and the feeling of calm and control, which are two words people would never associate with me! 💪🧘‍♀️😁

Have a fab time in NOrfolk, @MooBaggage !

Regarding maintenance etc I've been doing a mix of titrating down and a longer length between doses and it seems to be working for me but I'm feeling my way a bit blindly TBH.

I'm now basically down to 5mg from 10 (in March). I started titrating down while still trying to lose a bit and that worked ok. I went 10 days between doses when I was on holiday, but I did go up to 6.5 to slightly compensate. I jabbed 6.5 on Sunday after I got back, and I'll do 8 days this week and jab again, 5mg, on Monday. I kept 7.5 as my latest pen because it works out cheaper to count clicks from it than get a 5mg pen, especially as I fear getting a new style. I do think this will be my last 7.5 pen, and then I'll aim to do 2.5ish from a 5 pen.

My biggest battle is psychological. It's Summer, it's getting hot again, add in the lower dose and the whole "don't want to drink" effect which I've had throughout is fading. I'm trying to get past the silly fear that having a couple of nights a week where I drink a bit will blow me up like a balloon. It's ridiculous, and I came back from holiday having maintained absolutely fine. I want to chill out and enjoy sitting in the garden in my nice new clothes, feeling slim and having a drink. My eating is fine - it's all salads and lean protein and the odd ice lolly so I don't know why I'm fixating on the booze so much. Probably because I've lived a bit like a monk for over a year. 🙄

I need to up my weights and really work on that side of things, I think.💪

Bunnyjo · 19/06/2026 09:04

Haha, @GiveMeWordGames, I recognise the living like a monk feeling very well - I haven't touched a drop of alcohol in nearly 9 months! I don't miss it at all at the moment - evenings are spent at the gym, so that habit of relaxing with a glass of wine has been broken. At some point though, I will want to go out and 'let my hair down' and I have to admit that does make me nervous and I have no idea why!

I have been upping my weights too. DH and DS use a personal trainer and I have been considering splashing out on one, even if it's just for a few weeks - I think I have hit a point where I could do with expanding my routines and someone pushing me a little harder than I push myself.

The sagging skin definitely got worse for me when I got to BMI 26 and I recognise the feeling of it getting worse with every single lb lost.

The skin is still there, but as I tone up it is starting to get less noticeable. I am hoping it will continue to get better with time and by keeping up good habits such as regular gym work, hydration, eating lots of protein, no alcohol - see post above lol, and lots of supplements - including marine collagen, biotin, Niacinamide and a good multivitamin.

RobinEllacotStrike · 19/06/2026 10:23

I too have saggy skin. I stopped losing weight about 4 months ago I guess (I've not really recorded anything properly like a lot of you), and the saggy skin is absolutely getting better. I've noticed improvements on my tummy and arms, and a bit on my legs.

I'm 58 and lost 52 kilos over about 18 months.

I have an erratic protocol of all over body mosituring, taking flaxseed oil & collagen. I haven't kept up with the skin brushing but should go back to that.

So keep looking after your skin & stay optomistic for some improvement over time.

The hammock I bought last summer (as per these threads) is back out on my deck & I'm loving it. Cheers to @Info for the recommendation

@MooBaggage will you get into the cold water in Norfolk? I'm desperate to get back in after losing my cold water swimming mojo with MJ.

The cold sea water is absolutely a good skin toner.

That's reassuring. I'm not a lot younger than you and hoping for a similar loss.

LetitGoDLP · 19/06/2026 21:18

Hello all, I’m going to join you. I have just taken my 4th jab and have lost 16lbs so far. Starting waiting was 19st 5lb and I’ve worked out that if I lose 8st I’ll be at the top of a healthy BMI. Quite daunted by the fact as an adult the lowest I’ve weighed is 13st! I’ve been reading back over your posts and it’s inspiring reading!

MoneyJo · 20/06/2026 00:03

How tall are you @LetitGoDLP ?

LetitGoDLP · 20/06/2026 05:44

@MoneyJo I am 5ft 8in

MooBaggage · 20/06/2026 08:10

Hello @LetitGoDLP and welcome! I'm 5'8" too! My starting weight was 20st 3lb so I am completely understand feeling the enormity of the task ahead... I've lost 7st 12lbs so far, with 9lbs to go until I hit the magical BMI of 24.9.

So all I can say is that it is possible, even though, like you, I've never been anywhere near this weight as an adult. My many (many...) Slimming World attempts used to get me to around 14st 7lbs, which I felt was my happy place - obviously still overweight, but I thought that a size 18 - 20 was all I'd ever be able to get to. Am currently wearing mainly size 14s now and it's still a total headfuck...!

It sounds like you're doing brilliantly already and we're here for the long haul, so keep going and you can absolutely do it 😊💪😊💪
