Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

Apropos of nothing, does anyone know how to count the clicks on a 5mg pen?

60 clicks = 5mg
48 clicks = 4mg
36 clicks = 3mg
30 clicks = 2.5mg
24 clicks = 2mg
12 clicks = 1mg

I've just paid £138 for a 5mg from chemist4

Sorry - edited. They aren't giving out hiked prices yet...

Edited

I paid £106 (which includes P&P) for 5mg with Zava (wholesaler to Asda) - that was with a 25% discount code if you want mine please DM. They allowed me to order 2 pens yesterday - rejected my attempt to get a third.

Just had a mail shot sort of email from Oushk. It says customers can only order two pens...I ordered 3 yesterday and paid for them, so shall wait and see what happens.

Apparently they’re changing their rules because of selling out. So if you ordered when the limit was 3, you get 3. If you ordered when it’s 2, you get 2

LifeOfAShowGirl · 15/08/2025 09:49

DarlingHoldMyHand · 15/08/2025 09:12

Just ordered my usual 2.5 with Oushk this morning (not stockpiling - I was due to order anyway and am lucky that 2.5 works for me and I can afford the increase).

I found it interesting that I could only choose 28-30 August as delivery dates. It would not let me pick any other date.

I had a minor panic as thought we were going away that weekend and then realised we are going away the week before. I suppose they won't let you set a September date as that's when the new prices kick in.

I don't know what they are going to do when those delivery dates fill up though. Start charging the new prices for orders made in August but delivered in September 🤔

Hira said yesterday that they can’t fulfil orders in September that were placed before because it’ll be too much of a cost for them to cover the difference

beguilingeyes · 15/08/2025 09:49

Is a move to Wegovy and option? I don't think that's going up.

Periperi2025 · 15/08/2025 09:50

Weepixie · 15/08/2025 09:29

How would people feel about a standard cost for Mounjaro regardless of what strength you’re on. It’s what my UK based supplier does and it’s what happens where I live as well. A 2.5 pen is exactly the same price of a 15. Does that appeal to anyone?

No, because if it turns out we all need lifelong maintenance (studies are pointing this way), nobody wants to pay more than they need to for their lower lifelong maintenance than their short term, higher, therapeutic dose.

Crikeyalmighty · 15/08/2025 10:02

@Strider55. It is doable honestly but at least you were honest and admitted you did lose weight when on 1200 cals a day . I came off of MJ after 6 weeks as I hated the heartburn 3 days a week and felt like I had a hangover all the time - I’ve stuck to eating as if I’m on it though and am losing at the same rate - 1200 cals a day strict Monday to Friday and 1500 to 1600 Friday and Saturday to allow for a bit of wine. I have learned to like salad and then a lot of prawns or chicken breast or a curry with cauliflower rice or stir fry’s with just smaller portions and more protein , less noodles. - mountains of greek yoghurt and berries , hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese for breakfast etc - a lot of protein is key as is lots of water - you can actually eat quite a lot for 1200 cals - but sadly of certain things. No cakes, no biscuits etc - It’s I think a mind set thing - and I’m like you I said I couldn’t cope with the hunger at 1200 but have found I’m not actually hungry if I eat certain things. MJ for me worked as a reset to eat a certain way, so I’m greatful for that - I’ve had a couple of days where I ate 2200 or at least 1800 and I didn’t put weight on so I think eating differently has also kicked started my metabolism ( and I’m 63) still got 3 stone to go but I can now see it’s doable- boring somewhat but doable

Orangesandlemons77 · 15/08/2025 10:06

Just seen this shared about Pharmulous, seems it maybe be Ok switching to wegovy at maintenance. I'm considering that or staying at 5mg and possibly doing 5 weeks on/ 3 weeks off. I'll see.

But who can guarantee it won't go up in the future? And very suddenly as MJ has?

This is why I stocked up and I’m waiting and watching. Nobody knows what else Trump has up his sleeve.

It’s made by a different company not based in the US I believe

MarshaMarshaMarsha · 15/08/2025 10:12

I started on Wegovy, did really well, moved to mounjaro as was aware you could only stay on Wegovy for two years. That now seems to have changed so I might need to move back! Starting back at low dose again though I believe…. Argh! No idea if it’s safe to chop and change again!!

I think they’ve had the same letter as Eli Lilly though. And Novo Nordisk, who make Wegovy, have an oral version of it awaiting FDA approval. So potentially some leverage there for Trump unfortunately.

They also have ozempic in the USA. 41% of their business in 2023 was in the USA. People don’t seem to realise that this is a bombshell across the entire drugs industry

Yes, all the people being smug about this because they hate overweight people are overlooking the fact that it could affect all kinds of drugs in the future. I hope it doesn't, but the way things are going...

Exactly my plan. Medexpress website was very slow tonight so guessing it’s been busy

My order's been dispatched this morning (they must all be working overtime!) and I can reorder on the 28th, by which time we should have more idea about what's going on. So I'll be able to get one more pen before the price rise.
I've gone up a dose, which I don't think I'll need, but it means at current usage I'll be able to get 6 doses (five plus bonus) out of one pen.
The email from MedExpress last night mentioned the possibility of a 'managed move' onto Wegovy, which might be an option for me if the price skyrockets.
I've lost just over 7 stone so far, with 2 more to go, I can't crash and burn at this point!

It’s exactly what I was saying to my mum last night. This has hit the news because they’re the first one and because the jabs are so controversial. But this is going to be huge.

Could I have your code please? I’ve literally just started and am so gutted this has happened. It took me weeks to get my head around being able to afford it monthly! I don’t know whether to switch to wegovy now or try and sit at 5mg for a while of mounjaro and I might be able to afford that.

I’ve wondered for a while whether the UK government have been trying to keep the special relationship going for reasons such as this. The NHS really cannot afford an enormous price hike for drugs.

You have to hope all manufacturers are as good to the NHS as Eli Lilly has been. But I can’t see it happening. Unless it’s a case of “well mr Trump this is the list price” and all negotiated discounts are confidential, as is happening with Mounjaro.
