Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

Thanks @CoverMeInMarmalade , but sadly it looks to confirm it. 😟

sunshinesandringham · 14/08/2025 12:44

This is terrible and I fear it will cause many people to look to the black market / dodgy suppliers in desperation. It should not be allowed

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 12:49

I don’t understand the prices sorry, is that 5mg per day so you pay £264 per day ?

No. It's a weekly injection, the price quoted is for a 4 week supply - one multi-use injection pen that contains 4 doses.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 12:50

Is anyone else frantically doing the maths to see if they can afford the new prices? Pharmacies need to confirm asap

doodleschnoodle · 14/08/2025 12:53

I imagine pharmacies are currently frantically running their numbers to work out what they need to charge to retain a workable markup Sad This seems to have blindsided them.

I've ordered two pens this morning!

There is an Oushk live tonight at 7pm with a fitness guy but I am guessing that will a hot topic if Hira hasn't already responded to all the questions on facebook

Belindabelle · 14/08/2025 12:55

Well this sad news had given me a kick up the arse.
I have been on it nearly a year. Now on15mg. Lost 4 stone with at least 2 stone still to go.

For the past 6-8 weeks I have been yo yoing up and down by about 2-3lbs. Busy summer with lots of celebrations/food/alcohol.

Luckily I have a stockpile of 3 pens and will order another one (maybe 2 if allowed) before the price increase.

I feel genuinely gutted for people who will not be able to carry on.

Posts in the Oushk group are being deleted. I’ll be ordering a pen tonight and then just before my holiday I think!

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 12:57

@WeAllHaveWings does your supplier let you order 2 pens at once, or was this from different places? Unsure what to do, as I have just had an order last week from my current supplier so may not be able to reorder for a week or two.

SaintAgatha · 14/08/2025 12:57

Ahh, tits. Not ideal. :-(

Use other suppliers if you can

I genuinely think im going to have to stop. I did this because I was struggling to lose thanks to crazy hormones with perimenopause. This has allowed me very slow but consistent loss but the losses are so slow, I cant pay that much extra. Gutted as I know the weight wont come off without it but I just cant stretch my budget more so considering titrating down now to stop

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/08/2025 13:02

@SilenceInside thank you for taking the time to explain

I think I can afford it as long as I cut all discretionary spending. Gutted

I'm so similar to you. Got a stockpile of 2 pens. Thought I would be on this until goal and then well into maintanence. I'm losing so slowly now goal still seems a long way off.

I can afford it but not sure I can justify these new prices, doubt I would've started on it at new prices. I would order my next pen now (week early) but going away next week and I don't think it will arrive in time. I wonder if there will be any left by then...

ymemanresu · 14/08/2025 13:06

Shit. Can we stockpile?

Mrsbloggz · 14/08/2025 13:06

It's an old trick but it's very effective. Low prices to get you addicted and then start ramping it up.

flameprincess · 14/08/2025 13:07

I'm completely devastated it's the first time weightloss has felt achievable for me and now its like a total rug pull. I've only just started my journey nowhere near goal.

Crikeyalmighty · 14/08/2025 13:07

I know it’s not much help and it’s not the same before anyone tears me down - but I came off after 6 weeks due to heartburn and have found by using the practices I picked up of high protein, low carb, lots and lots of water and 2 GLP1 berberine tabs before evening meal and a strict 1200 cal in week, 1600 at weekend ( allow for a wine or two on my case) , I am still losing at the same rate of around 1.5lb a week and I’m 63 and have struggled to lose before - it is possible, but sadly yes it takes willpower and sticking to the habits learned. I managed to only gain 1.2kg on 10 day holiday and that was drinking every night - I just dumped lunch -

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 13:07

I still have at least 2 stone to go to my original target, and a bit more to get comfortably into the healthy range. I was anticipating being on Mounjaro till at least Christmas and then considering tapering off. I think I can manage to afford this, but if I felt I needed to continue taking it then I don't think I could sustain the costs on a permanent basis.

Bloody Trump. Never though he'd have this much of a direct impact on my little life.

CountingSleepySheep · 14/08/2025 13:10

Thank you for the heads up

I was thinking the same, but it's not unknown for me to be a tad cynical. 🫣
I don't actually use WL medication but appreciate that it has changed some people's lives.
