Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

Now THIS is how it is done 👏

Literally nobody cares. Why are you on this thread

Nomorechocs · 15/08/2025 10:25

Has anyone tried ordering from 2 different suppliers at the same time? I have an order in review with one supplier and wondering about ordering another one from another supplier before everywhere is out of stock.

They’re getting their kicks from picking on the fatties. I bet they were super fun at school. 😅 Just try to ignore them. I’m surprised they’re not thinner with all the energy they’re burning being a cunt.

I ordered from IQ Doctor, changed my mind and I’m waiting for them to cancel it! But you shouldn’t have an issue. Just order like you’re switching

I had a healthy diet pre Mounjaro. It’s hardly changed whilst I have been on Mounjaro. My weight problem was not caused by the amount or type of food that I ate.

thanks for explaining your experience

QueenOfHiraeth · 15/08/2025 10:27

I understand how frustrating and scary this is for people but the stockpiling and gloating of some is infuriating.
I delayed my retirement to work for the NHS through Covid and found, on a regular basis, that I'd work all day then find I couldn't get basic foods, loo rolls, etc while idiots gloated online that they had 2 bedrooms stacked with stuff "just in case". Today has released that same anger in me as, by the time I got home to see this news, there's suppliers out of stock and people online bragging that they have ordered loads from different suppliers. If I believed I could manifest stuff it would be a plague of fridges breaking down Grin

usedtobeaylis · 15/08/2025 10:34

I completely understand people stockpiling. It's definitely annoying but for something like this, I totally get it. Nobody wants to go back to how they were.

susiedaisy1912 · 15/08/2025 10:04

That’s what I’m going to look into.

I'm thinking that i will switch to wegovy for maintenance, although this is still a long way off. I've lost 21lb in 6 weeks on 1.25mg MJ, so something weaker for maintenance will probably be a good call anyway.

BabyCatFace · 15/08/2025 10:35

I've just done the maths. If a 15mg pen costs £330 and is used to administer 10mg per week it will cost £190 per month and the pen will be open for 8 weeks. I'm willing to give that a go, with keeping the pen in the fridge after opening and using syringes to do the extra doses. It may mean using more willpower to stick to my plan but that's not a bad thing really. I think Oushk are quite flexible about ordering schedules and have a maintenance plan where you don't have to order every month so this should be doable with them but let's see.

It's 100% shitty 'i'm all right Jack' behaviour and has been encouraged by at least one of the pharmacies.

Fairislesweater · 15/08/2025 10:37

I’ve got two pens on the way (not stockpiling, just switching supplier). Think I will try and count clicks to reduce dose and come off after the last one. I don’t want to rely on it if it’s going to be so expensive, but I’m also worried about shortages of people stockpile now.

Those who count clicks to make their pen go further, doesn’t that mean it’s open for too long?

I've stretched pens out over 3 months. As long as you're careful with hygiene it's fine.

Yes, but many people just accept that risk and take extra precautions to thoroughly clean the pen before/after use.

Pinkyp22 · 15/08/2025 10:40

What people don't seem to realise is stockpiling is just increasing the problem NOT helping 🙄
Understand its a shock, and a worry but come on think with logic

This was the kind of thing I was worried about. They've got people right by the balls now re price increase 😔

It's worth reading up on why the pen is meant to be used over 4 weeks, so you are comfortable with the risks and mitgating against them.

The number of times you 'spike' the syringe is increase and every spike creates the oppurtunity to introduce bacteria to the syringe which you will then inject - you must be vigilant cleaning the synringe tip.

Peptides and protiens that degrade and become less effecitve with time. There are graphs online that show you how much by 8 weeks. Always keep your synringe in the main compartment of the fridge not the door, to keep it as stable as possible.

I'm taking 1.25mg to good effect, so i was planning on binning the unused medication after 6 weeks, but will now be stretching to 8 weeks and accepting the risk, and on Trumps head be it!!

Most importantly do your own research!

No it's not, pharmacies can buy stock in and sell stock until the 1 sept at existing prices, the price increases are Trump playing politics, not supply chain issues.

doodleschnoodle · 15/08/2025 10:44

Honestly, with potentially hundreds of pounds to be saved by doing this, I don’t think we can blame anyone when it’s been both allowed and in some cases promoted by the supplier. My husband ordered 3 as I was able to tell him before it all kicked off. It’ll potentially save us £200+ and there are limits to how magnanimous I am when it involves such large sums of money!

LaGioiosanotLeviosa · 15/08/2025 10:44

If I’m with Voy (only just started on 2.5) would I be able to place another order with another supplier like medexpress whilst still staying with Voy?

All it will do is push people to getting it “ off market “ and
most of the people I know ( myself included ) get it this way and it works just as well
yes there is a risk as it’s not regulated but I don’t think they any of us care as it works

Sadly, I feel sure you are correct.

They can’t, Eli Lilly has capped overs for the next two weeks so suppliers won’t be restocking before the price rises.

TheRealGoose · 15/08/2025 10:55

This isn’t about trump. That’s a handy excuse. This is about el Lilly maximising profit before competitor products hit the markets in the next 18 months and generic wegovy hits the markets at a much lower price point, and they start to lose market share, howver I am going to imagine trump will have some choice words as he wanted the USA price down, not other countries up and everyone is blaming him, not el Lilly though , they aren’t blaming him, as they know to do so would cause immediate retribution.

anyone on 5mg or lower for maintenance likely will have limited impact as increase there is only about 40 quid max, it is people on7.5 and above or anyone starting or mid journey who are going to be taken out by this. It is shocking the government can’t stop it when it’s not widely available on the nhs either.

many will move to wegovy, which is manufactured by a danish company, I would assume they maintain price to capture the market share el Lilly will lose, putting it uo will be pointless. As if you’re going to pay that much you will pick mounjaro. Some erroneous info on line that you can’t switch if below 30 bmi but you can and multiple pharmacies now suggesting it.

either way this increase is time limited, when the other products hit the market the price will go down, so this is likely for 18 months max, and is just lining el Lilly’s pockets. It doesn’t help anyone in the here and now. But there is an end in sight. We also need to watch how it plays out, as the big pharmacies won’t want to lose lots of customers, hence why they are allowing the switch, but they also have margin to play with, and can reduce pricing somewhat if they chose.

el Lilly have not covered themselves in glory here and the price they are charging in the USA and similar markets is outrageously high. Trump acted to put a stop to that gouging, and they have just put the price up elsewhere to try to protect their profits.

SaintAgatha · 15/08/2025 10:58

@TheRealGoose Thank you for your posts, I for one have found them really informative and reassuring.

MisseyLurker · 15/08/2025 11:00

I noticed on Simple Online Pharmacy today that even though they’ve said they can’t confirm the new pricing yet, they have the cost at the bottom as between £171 to £464 per month as found at the bottom of this page https://care.simpleonlinepharmacy.co.uk/switch-support-faq

So people saying the increase is only £40 max for under 5mg, think again. It’s looking like £40 for 2.5mg and possibly £70/£80 for 5mg. There will be an increase no matter what it’s now just how much profit the pharmacy is looking to make too.
