Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

So it’s fallen into line to what the rest of Europe have to pay? That seems reasonable doesn’t it, why should the UK pay any less?

What dose of MJ are you on?

Two companies did lives last night.

MMP gave firm written numbers in their TikTok live chat that they’ve decided in from 1st Sept - don’t know how they’re been able to confirm so quickly.

2.5mg £137
5mg £178
7.5mg £215
10mg £239
12.5mg £251
15mg £271

Oushk (Hira) verbally said they are thinking 2.5mg will be around £150-160 and 15mg will be around £320-330 but stressed this was still to be confirmed when they have negotiate with Lily.

Okay, that’s reassuring

I've just had an email from my supplier confirming price increase 😞

Did they actually give new prices or just confirm the increase is happening?

Such a shit situation but the saddest part for me is the utter vitriol it's bringing out in some posters.

toodledo · 15/08/2025 07:32

@glucagal thank you for this update - really helpful. £137 is just about okay for 2.5mg...

Yes, it’s actually surprising how many sad little people have crawled out of the woodwork. Oh well, more fool them I said

ViolaPlains · 15/08/2025 07:43

I got an email from Boots yesterday to say they were reviewing prices and when I went online this morning they’ve already put the lower doses up.

Wow! Boots have always been one of the more expensive ones, but that’s shocking

I had a healthy diet pre Mounjaro. It’s hardly changed whilst I have been on Mounjaro. My weight problem was not caused by the amount or type of food that I ate.

Same

ChrisMartinsKisskam · 15/08/2025 07:47

All it will do is push people to getting it “ off market “ and
most of the people I know ( myself included ) get it this way and it works just as well
yes there is a risk as it’s not regulated but I don’t think they any of us care as it works

What do you mean by off market ? Where would one need to be looking ?

Paperwhite13 · 15/08/2025 07:52

I can’t get over Boots’ pricing.

What on earth.

Of course you don’t need a PT, but a PT isn’t a cheaper option than GLP1 medications, which was the specific point of Quirky’s that I responded to.

How does a PT help though. I mean. It’s been proven that exercise on its own doesn’t help you lose weight as more exercise makes people more hungry. PTs also don’t give nutrition advice. Plus how many hours a week is said PT?

it seems Oushk has gone in with higher guesstimates from the outset and I’m wondering if they’re usually at the top end of costs anyway.

It doesn't come in pre loaded pens that way does it? I've seen discussions about needing to measure amounts, load up your own syringes etc. How could you know for sure that what you're injecting is mounjaro and not some random concoction?

I'm not dead against it if I could ascertain its safety but I don't think you can?

Where are the Aesthetics providers getting it from to start with? I say Aesthetics providers because my botox lady offered to get it for me. My automatic response was no thank you.. but after these price hikes.. I'm going to do some research.

Probably under a table, or in a cubby hole at the back of the place where one would have off market tweakments done as well.

Please. don’t go down the route suggested. You really would be putting yourself in a lot of danger.

usedtobeaylis · 15/08/2025 08:05

As a diabetic I am pleased it's going to be harder for the general public to get it.

What an odd comment. Being a diabetic doesn't give you any magic credibility over the use of Mounjaro. It doesn't make you less of a dickhead.

I’ve had both pre filled pen MJ
and the type you mix ( ozempic)

I find I get much better result on ozempic and I’ve been on it over a year and now just use it to maintain my weight

Its funny that people were absolutely slaying me when I said I get it “ off market “ and I wouldn’t do it as it’s not safe but now they all want to get it as it’s cheaper 😂

morals go out of the window when money is involved

I cannot fathom why anyone would shop there for MJ, they are absolutely profiteering bastards.

Would you mind sharing how much you paid for the MJ this way? You're welcome to PM me if you didn't want to say on the thread.

Yes, I think it should have read:

’As an unpleasant individual I am pleased blah blah blah…’

They’re a little more expensive but I don’t think Hira would be saying this if she genuinely envisaged that it would be miles higher. £330 is unpalatable but for as long as I can I will be sticking with Oushk. They’re bloody brilliant

I’ve just got my BMI under 30 and have been with Oushk since Nov 24 and whilst they’ve been pricey I haven’t wanted to be bothered to shop around.

What do you all think the chances of switching to a new supplier will be as the prices go up and more people shop around? £330 a month with Oushk is prohibitive

I think you’ll be hard pressed - a lot of them have a solid no to prescribing with a BMI under 30. Hira does seem to think she’ll be able to prescribe wegovy to those who have been on MJ before. So maybe message their customer service in a few days? She did say they won’t have the answers yet, so I’d just stock up for now and see where you end up.

eliayd · 15/08/2025 08:22

I’m on the 15mg and it works well for me.
so devastated by the news
Im hoping they manage to make deals with the Eli Lilly to make prices more competitive still.
i used to use saxenda years ago but it didn’t work well
only MJ has.
Does anyone know if the highest dose of wegovy is good as MJ?

Strider55 · 15/08/2025 08:25

I really won't be able to afford to stay on mounjaro if the prices increase, I can just about afford it now 😢

It's so frustrating when people just say "try something else to lose weight". I did! I was going to the gym 3 times per week, tracking everything bloody calorie I ate and getting on the scales every week to see my weight was still the same (over 17stone, it's not like I didn't have weight to lose!)

Went to the GP, no thyroid issues or anything of that sort. I only started losing weight when my calories were at 1200, pretty sure my metabolism is just fucked. I won't be able to deal with the hunger if I try and maintain that low a calorie amount without mounjaro to help.

Feel like I'm just destined to be fat forever unless I can save up for bariatric surgery.
