May 25 mounjaro starters

Leveluplou · 29/04/2025 14:21

Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Hello, just joining the thread. I just injected myself for the first time today! I’ve gone with Phlo pharmacy. I was supposed to start last weekend but they didn’t send the starter kit out so I literally had no means of injecting- the pen has been sat in the fridge all week waiting!

I was a bit anxious to inject for the first time - reading the rare side effects etc, but it’s done now and I haven’t had an anaphylactic reaction so I’m feeling ok!

Wondering how quickly I will start to notice any change to my appetite 🤔.

I noticed the appetite suppression within 5-6 hours, has lasted all week and no side effects.

@Fatrosrhunare you with MedExpress? Iv been waiting since Monday

No I’ve gone for Voy for the first month. I ordered yesterday but haven’t had it delivered yet. I work weekends so thought I’d start after that in case of side effects. I was thinking about MedExpress, but a lot of comments on their Facebook page were grumbling about delivery waits. Voy may be slow too! We’ll see.

im on the 1st day of my 1st week! I took the jab last night.
i am slightly nauseous but nothing bad at all. Im feeling full a bit quicker than usual for breakfast/lunch but not that much.
i am not hungry but i still have cravings… like i passed by my youngest bedroom and remembered he had sweets and stopped to take a couple. Is this food noise? I was thinking about the sweets before i passed his bedroom.. its more “impulsive eating”…

LessWeightKate · 16/05/2025 14:21

@GeraniumRoseblush I think there is enough left in my 2.5 pen for a stepping-stone dose. Applying logic, the worst that can happen is that I'll get hungry sooner than if I jumped to 5.

I'm sure that most people (and maybe even me!) would be fine moving up to 5 right away. So far, I have responded strongly enough that I fear the SE if I double my dose overnight.

Side note: last year, I was on MJ for a while, and had terrible brain fog that stopped me from being competent at my job, so I had to pause the jabs completely. I'm trying to avoid a repeat of that.

I think “food noise” is a fairly new term with no set definition (?). To me it’s the way I’m always thinking about food. What food to buy, what to cook, what to eat, what to eat next, when to eat next… The only time I’m not thinking about food is when I’m eating. MJ just turns that chatter volume real low.

As this thread is almost full I've started a new one....

Hi hope it's ok to join you all. I ordered my first pen this week, and will be starting next week. Like most, I'm a bit excited, a lot nervous and pretty worried about side effects as I have a number of health issues that make life hard enough - but figure that though losing weight won't get rid of those conditions, it will helo me manage them better, so some potential discomfort is worth it.

Started dieting at 12, which set me up for a lifetime of falling on and off diets, putting any weight lost back on and then some, even when sticking to the plan and exercising regularly until I ended up over 260lbs, at just 164cm tall. Now 50 and on the bacm end of peri-menopause, I have found losing weight got harder and harder and sticking to them tougher and tougher.

I am AuDHD, so am either in absolute hyperfocus and completely regimented, or am in utter chaos, so am hoping that Mounjaro will help me to even out my moods as well as minimise my desire to eat carbs - especially chocolate - as my health conditions are definitely easier to manage when I am very low carb!

Will be doing my first weigh in and jab on Thursday next week, as I have a few things this week and early next weekend that I need to be ok for, so can't risk any side-effects, but I am looking forward to getting started.

I've read a lot of the mounjaro threads on here, and have picked up lots of tips, especially from the older threads as people learned how to manage their weightloss journeys, and hope I will be as successful as so many of the folk in those threads have been.

DemonOfTheNorth · 16/05/2025 16:22

I'm on Week 4 started at end of April. I've ordered 2.5 again for my next pen as I'm doing OK on this dose and have had very few side effects. I've lost 10 lbs but I'm training for the Great North Run and have been weight training for a few years. It's very much given me the freedom to control (if that makes sense?) my habits and stop my boredom / comfort eating. My mental health is great and I genuinely feel it's helping my perimenopausal symptoms. Maintenance once I stop is definitely always on my mind so the habits I'm forming now around food are manageable for my life hopefully forever. Early days though 😌

Wow, this thread moves fast! Welcome to all the new joiners, you've joined a great bunch of losers 😉

I'm on my 3rd jab today, and weekly weigh-in.

2lbs off for me this week, so that's 4lbs off in total. I seem to be in the slow and steady camp here.

My rate of loss is similar to being on a diet without using Mounjaro - but with the bonus of not having to battle with hunger inbetween meals. Which is hugely helpful.

I have started to think about possibly using a 5th dose from my current pen, and also ordering my next pen. Quite interested in going up to a 3.75mg dose next rather than straight to the full 5mg dose. What's everyone else thinking?

So ive been working out that if people are correct that there is 0.8ml left in the pen after the 4th dose, that is equivalent to 3.3mg on a 2.5 pen.
So I think I might take that as the 5th dose when I'm ready to change to 5mg, in order to do a gradual increase.

GeraniumRoseblush · 16/05/2025 16:59

@Weightlossprincess that sounds like a good stepping stone amount, I think I'll plan to do that, buy some syringes and see how brave I actually feel when it comes to using them 😅

BerfyTigot · 16/05/2025 17:54

Quick update to say that my side effects lasted 23 hours (big relief) but it means I'm definitely carrying on with it but will change day and inject into thigh and will see how it goes.

I'm sure my second jab tomorrow but I have literally zero appetite, the suppression is unreal. I'm wondering whether to do the jab or hold off?! I weighed myself and have lost 8lbs in one week!

Well done! I would take the next dose at the normal time and you can keep powering through that weightloss!

I think you might be right just to keep it doing. No doubt weightloss will be less next week but that's ok, this level would not be sustainable 🙂

I am using MyNetDiary it has a barcode scanner which is really handy!

Lovecycling · 16/05/2025 20:17

Week 2 done and have lost 8lbs in total. Injected dose 3 this afternoon. I didn’t have as much suppression this week but still managed to stay within my macros mostly although I did go slightly over on 2 days but I’m working to a 700 kcal deficit so there is a little bit of wiggle room. Feeling lucky that I haven’t had many side effects.
Im working to 110g protein per day and managing that ok with 1 protein shake. Good luck for the coming week everyone.

Lovecycling · 16/05/2025 20:20

@Oakhouse I use the premium version of MyFitnessPal as you can set your macros and work to those rather than calories. You can also set different macros on different days. I use this as I eat more carbs on a weight training day.

Morning all! Some absolutely fabulous losses above - well done!

TMI coming… I last pooed a week ago today. I’ve been having plenty of fibre and even those stool softening power drinks. I think I’m going to have to take some laxatives this evening. Any other ideas, please!? 🙏🏻

Oh goodness tell me about it, I feel your pain, in all honesty I hadn't thought about it being a SE to the jab, as I have bouts of constipation from some of the medication I take.
However today I've come to realise it has to be as I take lactose before bed when it would normally happen. Only this time the usual amount hasn't touched the sides and not been able to go at all today.

It also affects my daily weigh in on my RH app. So tonight I'll be take and extra large dose.

You can get that from chemist and it's a lot less harsh than pure laxative tablets. I do hope you manage to get sorted 🤞

26dX · 16/05/2025 21:51

@Bundlefloweri used a glycerin suppository from boots, it worked in 10 minutes! 😂😂

AlicesMum2025 · 16/05/2025 22:45

@Oakhouse I use Nutracheck. It has a barcode scanner and I haven't yet found anything not on their database. I tried MyFitnessPal first but I much prefer Nutacheck and think the cost is easily worth it

Buzzardbird · 17/05/2025 06:05

Hi everyone, my first pen is arriving today. I have watched the video and they are unclear on a couple of points;

They don't appear to clean the injection site before administering the medicine.
They say to store unused pens in the fridge, is that still what you do after using the first dose?

I've noticed a lot of you are injecting at night, is there a reason for that?

Appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi! So having jabbed for first time Thursday this is fresh in my mind haha! There is a good 5min video from Numan om YouTube that advises cleaning injection site beforehand with alcohol wipe, they say you don't have to have it I fridge but don't let it get above 30° so I guess depends how warm your house is... I've put mine in fridge to stop it getting lost!

And I'm injecting at night as a) less rushed once Dc in bed and also means I'm less worried about side effects as first 12hrs after jab I'll be home/asleep hopefully 🥰

Buzzardbird · 17/05/2025 06:11

Wow, thank you so much for the speedy response! Very useful info. I'll order some sterile wipes, I stupidly thought they would come with the pen.

Elle771 · 17/05/2025 06:25

@buzzardbird mine did! I think they're just normal antiseptic wipes tho :)

Ah, pen not here yet. Hopefully they will be in it. Thank you for reply. I'm nervous.
