Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

@Iggy35
I didn't feel much week 2, had to rely on willpower most of the time.

Week one is was very nauseous, which affected what I could eat.

Week two, not so bad with side effects.

Must try harder to eat protein that's my aim for this week.

ElsieJay · 15/05/2025 16:16

Golly, this thread moves so quickly !
Welcome to all the newbies ( still a newbie myself, still in my first week 🙄) and congratulations to everyone on their fabulous Week 1 losses .
Gradually sorting out the names of those on the same point of this journey ( horrid phrase, sorry ) as myself - second jab tonight and first weigh in tomorrow morning .
Have resisted my untrustworthy home scales, so thanks to whoever suggested taking measurements : bust and waist unchanged , but a full two inches off my hips - very happy with that .
Will log and report weight tomorrow.

Good luck, 2 inches is fabulous.
I did my first weigh today, but think I'm.going to do the measuring only once a month as I'll ne gutted if they haven't changed hahha

ElsieJay · 15/05/2025 16:21

PS : @BerfyTigot and @Col28 - hope you’re feeling better soon . 💐 💐 xx

ElsieJay · 15/05/2025 16:26

@Weightlossprincess - aaaah, thank you !
I was severely tempted to weigh after reading about everyone’s losses , but my scales are so rubbish I thought I’d measure instead .
Don’t think I’ll be making it a weekly thing though - like you say , if the tape hasn’t budged …..😱.
You must be very happy with your first week - well done !

LittleNoosh · 15/05/2025 16:38

w2d1 here and my nausea has returned with the second jab. Was really hoping it wouldn’t. Not getting much suppression though did get fuller slightly easier for a few days. Have a sinking feeling im going to have to decide between going up to the next level with my new pen in order to get suppression but at the risk of more symptoms.

Does anyone know if you can just take a 2.5mg dose from a 5mg pen, in the event that I really can’t handle the SEs at that dose?

Mounraine · 15/05/2025 16:44

You can @LittleNoosh, you just turn the pen 30 clicks rather than 60.

Col28 · 15/05/2025 16:44

Today I feel better. Much less nausea & normal 💩 poop at last.
However, I don't feel less hungry tbh. So maybe the 2nd jab next Monday will help.
I'm very worried the side effects will return but I have to give it a chance.
I hope others are feeling better soon too. xxx

Hi ElsieJay
Yes I do feel better today. I hoping I've turned a corner at least till next Monday & 2nd jab. I'm praying 🙏 I don't have more side effects then. I don't think it's actually working with me yet as I still feel hungry. I eat breakfast now though, lunch & dinner as direct by Ruth the dietician & smaller portions.
I've been emailed saying it's time to re order because I had my first doses in my fridge for 3 weeks as I was away. I wonder if I can go to higher dose after just my 2nd jab.
🤔I hope you are doubg well? This group is so essential for me. xxx

Phat2fin · 15/05/2025 16:59

If it helps @Col28 the diarrhoea with my second have was not as bad as the diarrhoea with my first jab. I wouldn’t be thinking about increasing your dose yet though. Wait till the side effects settle

Mounraine · 15/05/2025 16:44

Thank you. Even I could manage that!

I think you're right. I was hoping the diarrhoea wouldn't return. Is it the same after each jab? 😖xxx

Mounraine · 15/05/2025 17:38

I think side effects are very variable. Must depend so much on what you’ve eaten, how you’ve slept, stress levels, menstrual cycle etc. I haven’t got much experience but people do say side effects improve as our bodies get used to the hormones.

planesick · 15/05/2025 17:39

I did the injection at 12:30, it was a bit daunting but didn't hurt at all...I feel hungry but not ravenous...I am sure that it's all in my mind 😄
Thanks for the app recommendation, it means I don't have to keep losing bits of paper.

Mounraine · 15/05/2025 17:39

Much contested jab 3 taken. Feeling much more confident and in control. No weigh-in due to being on holiday, but so many carbs consumed I am not hopeful.

Where do you do your injection, thigh or stomach?
I've been going for my thighs, but wondering if the suppression is stronger with stomach.

ScotsLassie6 · 15/05/2025 18:01

Hi all, so hard to keep up with everyone’s journey. Hope side effects are easing for those suffering. Thankfully I just seem to be experiencing headaches and nausea the day after my jab, but I take mine in the evening.

I was wondering if anyone knows more about changing your injection site. I have been injecting in my lower belly. Lower right then lower middle. I was just going to work from side to side in my lower belly as I am
numb below my bellybutton following hernia surgery a couple of years ago. I assume the nerves were damaged from the surgery but has meant I don’t feel the injection or pain at the injection site even though I can see slight bruising.

Does anyone know if it will be ok just to stick to this area?

Thanks, that is good to know.
I'm also avoiding fatty/ greasy/ fried food.
Strict calorie counting and focusing on protein is really working for me.

We are in the same schedule. Just did my 2nd jab :) Lost 1.5kg in the first week so very happy with that!

BrienneMonroe · 15/05/2025 18:24

For those suffering with nausea I’ve seen lots of posts suggesting that the thigh is the best place to minimise SE but you’ll have less suppression. This is what I’m opting for as I’d rather go low and slow and be able to function!

So far so good for me. I hope this helps someone x

Blimey @BerfyTigot that's horrendous, you poor thing. @2old4thisshit How are you holding up? I was reading through a thread of folks that started MJ last year and it was really useful - lots of people have made considered, slow increases rather than going from 2.5 to 5 to 7.5 and so on - they've gone for quarter or half increases each week to help with the side effects. It makes a lot of sense and could really help those that are hit by awful side effects.

How are you @Col28? And @Mounraine? I'm conscious that this is a fast-moving thread but didn't want those that are having a hard time to disappear in amongst other posts.

I'm on day ... 4? Injected on Sunday afternoon? and I woke up bright and early and had a shower before work, unheard of - usually shower in the evening. That bright-eyed, bushy-tailedness has gone now, I feel rough, almost like I'm due on. I'm not though but I've got cramps into my thighs.

Painkillers and coffee and water.

I did 1st jab sat afternoon & had lower back and hip pains from yesterday also tired & headachey!

I have come on today (was due) so put it down to that but interesting to read you’ve had similar! Chocolate cravings did hit last night and I had some but a normal amount (opposed to what I used to have!!) and I was satisfied so I’ll take that!!!

i’m moving injection forward one day and doing it tomorrow instead of sat as Friday night with low suppression plus period is not a good plan for me!!!

BerfyTigot · 15/05/2025 18:36

@Col28 So sorry to hear that you are suffering too. I have had watery diarrhoea all day. I look after my dad 3 days a week so am thinking of changing day i inject and injecting in a different site. Top of thigh is supposed to be good for getting into body slower, so will try that. That's assuming that I get back to normal first@

BerfyTigot · 15/05/2025 18:42

@SignedUpAgain good to hear that your side effects weren't as bad week 2! Gives me hope!

Mounjaronew · 15/05/2025 18:42

week 2 day 5.
every day seems to bring more and more appetite suppression. I took a steak out of the freezer this morning as normally love that. I also had a quarter of sweetheart cabbage in there. I steamed the sweetheart cabbage and then air fried it with some chilli flakes and paprika. I air fried the steak. I really could have had just the cabbage. I won’t have steak again although it was done exactly how i like it. I no longer need or want it. This mounjaro has done something miraculous to me. I am craving much different things than before. I crave avocado, smoked salmon and roasted beetroot. I occasionally crave salad. I can’t stand the thought of chocolate or cakes. I used to comfort eat with those. I am going to be able to lose weight i think in an easy unpainful way. I have been lucky with no SE apart from slight constipation in the morning that is fine after I have my, this morning, strawberries and 0% fage yogurt. I actually got up early to get more yogurt as I had run out.

Sorry if I sound over the top but I can’t believe it. I have very high BP and cholesterol and a heart defect. This is revolutionary for me!
