Leveluplou · 29/04/2025 14:21

Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

I'll join you as it's nearly May!
I went to my local Pharmacy today for a prescheduled appointment and got my first pen and all the necessary details etc.

Was going to do the first injection tomorrow but thought I would do it this afternoon instead whilst I still remembered his detailed instructions. So I've just done my first jab and written my starting weight on this journey. 116 kg

Was slightly anxious about doing the first injection, but it all seemed easy enough. Let's hope this whole process is smooth with decent results, accepting that lifestyle changes must be made alongside the injections.

Good luck to everybody starting this month.

Mounraine · 29/04/2025 15:44

Hello thread, I tried Mounjaro initially at the start of April but suffered from either a bad infection or side effects (or both) and ended up having to skip the second jab and then trying two lower doses. Maybe this was a complete waste of money, but I needed to build my confidence.

So, I'm starting afresh with 2.5mg on 1st May with everything crossed.

Kipperandarthur · 29/04/2025 15:45

Fingers crossed for you Mounraine for a fresh start.

MyScaredCat · 29/04/2025 16:09

My first post here 😬
Ive just received my pen and planning on injecting tonight. So 29th April, but close enough to May.
Im so scared. I’m scared about the injection itself. I’m scared of side effects. I’m just scared

I was / am as well.
I just read the instructions for the pen and had been given instructions by the pharmacist who showed me what to do. It was actually straight forward to do it and I just got on with it earlier today. It was fine honestly.

I think it's one of those things that it's sometimes better to just get on with it now that you've decided to do it and with time hopefully it all becomes second nature.
Good luck.

Mounraine · 29/04/2025 16:24

I don’t enjoy injecting, it’s not something I’ve had to do before. I find it nerve-wracking and unpleasant but definitely not painful. It gets easier every time too.

Apprenante · 29/04/2025 17:01

Hello May stars! I've got my pen in the fridge and am planning to inject on Thursday evening. I've got relatively quiet days on Friday and Saturday - just in case of any side effects. I'm very worried about side effects but not at all about the injection.
I tell myself that the side effects of being obese are worse than the potential SEs of the jab but ....
At 71 I think I'm very old to start this - so that's another worry.
Good luck everyone.
Current weight 14 stone 8 lbs. Height 5 ft 2.

Leveluplou · 29/04/2025 19:39

@Kipperandarthur well done on taking the first step, I'm going to be so nervous with that first one. I'm trying to get myself mentally ready for the lifestyle changes too. I'm so ready for it!

@Mounraine welcome to the may club, hoping it goes smoothly for you.

@MyScaredCat I think it's normal to feel anxious over injecting yourself. I reckon we'll read this back one day and wonder why we were so worried!

@Apprenante welcome :) you're never too old to feel healthier so here's hoping!

I probably should have said my starting weight is gulp 20st 6 lbs and I'm 5ft 8 so I have a lot to lose. But slow and steady will do me perfectly. I just want to have energy to run around with my kids. I don't want to feel uncomfortable with my size.

Me too!
Bloody nervous about the side effects for two reasons.

  1. I hate felling nauseous
  2. My daughter is emetophobic…

but I’ve tried everything and need to do something to get to a healthy weight. Everything hurts, I hate being seen in public, nothing fits, look a mess in photos to the point where there are barely any photos of me and the kids. So sad, I’m hiding away from life. No more!

Planning on starting on Friday night so can deal with any effects over the bank holiday weekend. Plus little one will be with her dad until Sunday.

Female, 5ft7
Starting weight 208.2lb. My heaviest ever

Onwards and upwards! Best of luck to you all and wishing you steady weight loss and no side effects!!

CatG021024 · 30/04/2025 10:26

I had my first injection on Monday evening, had to get my husband to do it as I hate needles but was ok in the end.

So yesterday was first full day, didn't feel particularly hungry, am trying intermittent fasting alongside so had a brunch of omelette and struggled to finish it. Felt uncomfortably full about 4/5 hours afterwards.

Has a small bowl of potato hash at around 7pm. Have had sulphuric burps and a heavy stomach plus some loose stools but not horrendous this morning. Don't feel great today but not unmanageable. Hoping it settles over the week. Not hungry yet at all.

Leveluplou · 30/04/2025 11:21

I just did my blood test. It's so clever how they do it, using a tasso. I've never seen them before!

@CatG021024 I hope the side effects don't hang around too long for you. That's insane how full up it made you feel.

My first weigh-in is on Friday, so I hope it's okay to slide in under the April wire here as those threads are already well established.

I was on MJ for a month last year, and have kept that weight off, however a side effect of brain fog coincided with a work project I couldn't risk messing up. Now that project is over, here I am!

This time around, I have great suppression right away again, which is so lucky, and none of the nausea of last time (yet). I think my biggest issue last time was worrying about side effects. Apart from the foggy thinking, mine really were minimal on 2.5. This time I'm more relaxed, and if I could gift that chill vibe to anyone new to the medication, I would! Anxiety makes everything feel ten times worse.

Thanks for starting the thread @Leveluplou Here's hoping we all have a healthier future and a whole summer as glorious as today!

Hi everyone.

Can I join you all please? I placed my first order today and am looking to getting started. Hoping for a positive journey with this.

PurpleSector · 30/04/2025 12:58

I am looking to order today but not sure where to go online - I’m hearing some providers have long delays or have a long/difficult process for new customers. Would welcome any experience and advice on where to go that doesn’t take too long or feel too traumatic. Happy to do the humiliating photos but just won’t want too much faffing about. Thank you!

I went to my local Pharmacy for the first one and will continue for a bit until established, then may look at online going forward.

My local pharmacist was very good and informative and obviously after discussion you are given it immediately. I paid £149.

Peachblossom25 · 30/04/2025 13:27

I’m a newbie on MN. I’ve put my order in yesterday. I’m worried they won’t approve it as I haven’t heard anything yet. How long does it usually take to get the ok? I went with Asda as it’s easier for me to collect as I’m often not at home.
I’m really looking forward to the support on here. I’m so so nervous and think I might be crazy to be thinking about doing this but at the same time I’m so, so excited!!

LessWeightKate · 30/04/2025 13:53

@PurpleSector I have bought from Voy, Med Express, and from Oushk depending on the best discount. Several suppliers have delays for the bigger doses, I believe. Plenty of 2.5 seems in supply.

The wait seems to be for clinician approval, @Peachblossom25, which has taken between 2 and 5 days for me in the past. Seems like forever at the time!

MyScaredCat · 30/04/2025 14:03

I took my first dose at 8am. Went out for my usual walk straight after to stop me thinking about it. I think that thinking about side effects will make me feel worse than they do!
I have just eaten lunch, 2 SW chicken skewers. I’m doing my usual of thinking of something sweet with my coffee so posting here to distract myself.
its the afternoon that will test this for me. I make very healthy dinners, but eat crap in the house during the day. That’s what I’m hoping I can stop with MJ help

Thank you. That’s reassuring and frustrating at the same time! I was hoping to start before/over the bank holiday weekend in case of any side effects. Fingers crossed it gets approved soon!

I’m starting tonight I’m so nervous

SlippySausage · 30/04/2025 18:40

Hello - can I join?

I placed my first order with Juniper yesterday and am impatiently waiting for delivery. I'm not too worried about the injecting as I had to inject insulin for gestational diabetes a million years ago, but I am nervous about side effects and worried that it won't work for me! Over the years, I've weighed every weight between 8 stone and 14 stone (multiple times). Now I'm in my fifties with type 2, high cholesterol and high BP. I really want to take control of my weight and my health. I will post my starting weight and goals when I receive the pen. Good luck everyone!

Tomorrow for me - and I'm so nervous too. I'll hold your hand tonight (metaphorically) and please will you do the same for me on Thursday?

I placed my first order with Pharmulous on Monday and received my first pen today. Took the injection straight away.

Are othere calorie counting? I have a friend who has done really well and strictly calorie counts, including splitting between carbs, protein and fats, as well as taking a lot of vitamins!

It really is painless. The worry beforehand is the absolute worst part!
