Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

I'm starting tomorrow.

Start weight. 144 kg so a heck of a lot to lose. I'd like to be under 100 kg and go from there.

MJSpideySenses · 02/02/2025 09:10

I had homemade soup for lunch. I was at a pub quiz with all my family last night and they serve a meal as part of that. Last night was cottage pie with chips. When it came out, I thought how small the portions looked (it only costs £5 all in), I gave all but 5 chips to DS and ate the cottage pie. I only had one drink too and felt satisfied.
I've felt well since jabbing on Friday so very pleased.
Today is fruit for breakfast, soup for lunch and I am undecided for dinner.

@Mounjaroday DH had words with DS for offering pizza repeatedly. He said it was a really nice one and wanted to try it but I didn't want to. Like you say, it was much easier to say no.

Hi everyone,

pleased there’s a Feb starters thread, thanks for setting up OP. Literally just did my first injection. Shut my bedroom door for some privacy as I was freaking out, husband bloody tries to come in! Is five mins peace too much to ask 🤣

im 14.5 stone, looking to get to 11 stone. I lost 2 stone through diet and exercise 2 years ago but life for challenging and I put it back on, so I’m going to tell everyone I’ve done the same again. DH knows and is supportive.

Good luck to everyone, well done on taking such a brave step for our health we should be proud of ourselves 😊

for success stories both my best friends are on it and have lost 2 stone and 3 stone respectively and nearly at goal. Both of their advice is keep up the fluid intake and have rehydration tablets when needed and for any alcohol consumption.

can’t wait to follow everyone’s progress

Herefordian · 02/02/2025 09:50

Interesting to hear everyone's reactions. I don't have anyone in real life to compare notes with and only my partner knows I've started this. I've told everyone else I'm trying to lose weight so they will just think I've got amazing will power!
First injection yesterday morning and today I've woken up with mild nausea. I'm trying to imagine all my favourite foods and it's doing nothing for me - like thinking of an ex; I hope they're ok but I've got no desire to see them again.
I'm getting slightly anxious about maintaining a decent fluid intake. It was an ordeal yesterday when I felt normal so I'm it sure how today will go. But I feel so motivated to lose weight and relearn how to eat sensibly as I'm fed up with yo-yo dieting only to end up back where I started.

FatBottomGirlz · 02/02/2025 10:01

@Herefordian can you try some ginger or mint tea to help the nausea and keep you hydrated at the same time?

Sooverwinter · 02/02/2025 10:04

Please can I join too. I did my first dose yesterday.
I have four stone to lose, and I just have to lose this weight, so in it for the long haul!

Mounjaroday · 02/02/2025 10:05

Of course! Welcome to everyone who has joined!

Good tip! I keep sliced ginger in the freezer - instant ginger tea when needed.

@Herefordian 'like thinking of an ex; I hope they're ok but I've got no desire to see them again'

Haha excellent description! I came across a half eaten bar of chilli chocolate from a few weeks back while rooting around in my kitchen cupboards and felt kind of vague affection for the pleasure it once gave me but no active desire for it 😅

@NikkiReader I hear you on the muscle wastage worry - I have an underlying condition that can cause this too so I definitely need to keep up the gym! Already been today, mostly for weights.

@Mounjaroday thanks! I have my berries frozen with the yoghurt drizzled over so that semi freezes as well, kind of a healthy ice cream substitute 😆. Will try the compote!

LauraJustMe · 02/02/2025 10:17

Pleased to have found a Feb starters group! Will be doing my first injection tomorrow after work. Am nervous but also excited and most importantly I'm feeling mentally ready - which for me is usually the key to successful loss.

Heading to the supermarket now to stock up on some decent food for my first week - although hopefully I won't want too much of it 😃

Good luck everyone! Xx

Moonshine5 · 02/02/2025 10:30

@TootieFrooties Warburtons do a gluten free thins - I prefer it to the regular one, it's not heavy. Just thought I would mention it as an alternative. I freeze them.

TheHungryHobbit · 02/02/2025 10:32

May I join in too?

As some others here have said, I feel this is a bit of a 'last chance saloon' for me. I plan to start on Thursday evening as I have a day off on Friday, just in case I have side effects.

So far I've vaguely mentioned it to my sister and will probably (but not definitely) tell DH. He's my No.1 cheerleader usually but I have a suspicion that he's going to focus on the more serious potential side effects rather than truly understand the harm I'm doing to my health by NOT losing weight. Not least that, now in my 60s, I'm starting to get twinges in hip and knee which I am certain will improve if I'm not carrying so much weight.

5'9"
SW/CW 15st 6lbs
GW 11st. I think.
BMI 31.9

Zazu44 · 02/02/2025 10:46

Hi much the same as lots of you - last chance saloon! Am now in my 60's and finding it hard to shift any weight. Am nervous but fed up of not feeling like me, have just done an assessment with Oushk do I need to order needles separately?
Is there any other companies anyone would recommend, soooo many to choose from.

Hi! I ordered with Oushk and wasn't sure either, so got a pack of needles but they weren't needed - they provide six needles plus wipes with the pen. I found Oushk really good and liked that I could select the delivery day (I haven't told DH yet and as he works weird shifts and I also work away half the week I wanted to select a delivery date when I'm home and he's at work!).

Good luck 😊

Herefordian · 02/02/2025 12:45

Thanks for the ginger tea recommendations; it's on my shopping list.
The nausea actually improved hugely once I'd eaten brunch - I rarely have breakfast although that might have to change.
I'm so glad I told my partner I was doing this as it would be very hard to hide the drastic change in my eating (and drinking) habits. I wasn't planning to tell him but he's been very supportive and I think he would have been upset if he found out accidentally. He's under strict instructions not to let it slip to anyone else but he's rubbish at keeping secrets so I'm not sure how that will pan out.

protectthesmallones · 02/02/2025 13:13

I'm starting this week. It's all new to me.

May I join you ☺️?

Mounjaroday · 02/02/2025 13:18

Yes everyone welcome. Good luck! xx

I've bitten the bullet and ordered from weprescribe. Had to send a photo of my weight on the scales alongside a piece of paper with my name and today's date on it. And a front and side on photo. Hopefully receive my order in a couple of days.

CW 87kg
GW 65kg

I'm bloody terrified, it's a lot of money for me so I really really hope it works!

OvertiredandConfused · 02/02/2025 17:35

Hello
I just did my first jab. I’ve got a lot to loose - not setting a target yet, just want to be able to shop in high street stores and “fat” not be the first impression. I have MS and have used a wheelchair for 7 years - which has contributed to weight gain.
Nervous but hopeful and determined.

Zazu44 · 02/02/2025 20:25

@Littlebitpsycho me too! Ordered today and will come next Saturday.
I'm nervous and it's a lot of money so 🙏 it works

MJSpideySenses · 02/02/2025 20:45

@Herefordian My DH is the same, wouldn't intentionally tell anyone but just forgets. I'm glad you're feeling better now.

I have felt well overall. A bit of stomach pain when I was hungry but nothing to really complain about.

Good luck to everyone. It feels such a big and exciting thing. I cant wait to see what happens.

sc0ttishlass · 02/02/2025 21:47

Hello all. Would love to join your group. Have ordered and should arrive on tuesday...very very nervous that either I have horrendous side effects or it doesn't work for me. I've tried every diet under the sun for years and heavier than ever.

Age 47,
Starting weight 84kg
Goal weight 63.5kg

I would love to think I could do it in 6 months (more because of the expense than anything) but guess will have to see how things go

Mademoiselle14 · 02/02/2025 22:12

My first dose was ordered this morning so hopefully I’ll be starting this week. I’m a bit nervous about the side effects but I gave myself Jan to see if I could start making some progress by myself to lose weight and I managed a couple of days without comfort eating so here I am!
I could do with losing at least 8 stone so I’m in it for the long haul!

ordering electrolytes and gaviscon based on what I have read so far…anything else to get stocked up on?

incognitomummy · 02/02/2025 22:43

My pen has been in the fridge a few weeks.
This week is the week!!!

Starting weight 80kgs
Goal 60kgs

Good luck everyone!!

CottonCandyLand · 02/02/2025 22:56

First jab last night. Feel a teensy bit nauseous but not too bad.
