Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

x

Hi everyone.

I'm starting tomorrow. My current weight is 97kg and I'm aiming for 70kg.
Feeling a bit nervous about it. Good luck to all the February starters!

Crunchymum · 01/02/2025 13:18

I'm starting Wegovy on Monday. Can't see a Wegovy thread though.

I'm quite reluctant to go down this route but I've reached my "nothing has worked" point.

I'm fine with injecting as I previously injected another medication weekly (for an autoimmune condition, I'm not medicated at the moment as agreed with my consultant) but I'm still a bit unsure? It all feels a bit unknown / uncertain for me but nothing else has worked so here I am.

I can't even stand to post my starting weight. I measure in st and lbs but I'm 84.5kg (I'm short!!)

Initial target will be 63kg but 57kg would be my ideal.

At this point I've kind of lost hope so I'm just going to see how it works for me. Anything off is a bonus.

Mounjaroday · 01/02/2025 13:39

@Crunchymum you are very welcome here. Interested to hear about Wegovy. Best of luck x

Just done my meal planning for the week.

Wondering if appetite suppression subsides towards the end of each week … guess I’ll find out soon enough!

I have just ordered my starter dose of Mounjaro so hope to have it next week

Bluehels · 01/02/2025 15:39

Has anyone already injected and feel any effects yet?
Feeling impatient that i should be feeling different 🤣

Losingit2024 · 01/02/2025 15:44

Started on Thursday so hope it's ok to join this thread.

Injection was fine. Had some mild nausea and headache on Friday. Today I have felt totally normal.

I think I am feeling fuller quicker but I have massively upped my water intake so some of it might be that! Not sure yet if I am feeling less hungry or whether my motivation is just high right now.

Need to loose 5 stone min.

Burnserns · 01/02/2025 15:47

Hello, can I join too? 124kg currently hope to get to 73kg.

SwerveCity · 01/02/2025 16:15

Excitedly and nervously joining. I’m 88kg. Just now had my Mounjaro prescription approved on Medexpress so awaiting my first delivery soon.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 01/02/2025 16:53

When I took my first dose, I had diarrhea the next day but then the day after that had such a bad stomach that I didn't make it to the loo on time. Luckily I was at home not in the office but it was awful.

After that it was ok. Now I've restarted I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it was a one off!.

SwerveCity · 01/02/2025 17:04

@AnnaQuayInTheUk now worrying I’m going to literally shit myself on the school run 😂

I was in an online work meeting and had to leave immediately - still didn't get to the loo on time. I pretended my Teams connection had just crashed as obviously couldn't say why I really left. I'm very nervous about moving up to 5mg in case the same thing happens. Thank goodness it was only once!

My Diabetes nurse told me that she has about 80 patients on MJ and only one had to completely stop because the diarrhoea was uncontrollable.

Mounjaroday · 01/02/2025 19:05

Oh Lordy @AnnaQuayInTheUk I’m sorry to hear that!

Might be a stupid question but does one ‘have’ to move up to 5mg? Does the effect of 2.5mg start to wear off as your body gets used to it?

Hi all, I've just started, injected yesterday. No side effects so far, but I have been very uninterested in food today, which is most unlike me!

Starting weight 108jg and aiming to get to 70-75kg

Concavedreaming · 01/02/2025 20:02

Hi. Starting tomorrow. Just feel awful like I've lost myself recently and want to get some control back. Is it better to do night then and on a Friday? I was going to do tomorrow am and then I'm WFH Monday so should be ok, bit worried I should have done Friday? Just nervous about side effects/reaction

Lola50 · 01/02/2025 20:11

Just had my first jab. This is last chance saloon - I’ve tried everything to lose weight. Looking forward to hearing many positive stories here x

I don't know. My diabetic nurse does my prescriptions for me. I'm supposed to go up to 5mg shortly.

Feb2025start · 01/02/2025 21:48

Hey all! Hope you've had a great day.

I'm really happy with how things are going after injecting for the first time yesterday!

What is everyone eating? Today I had:
B - one egg omelette with a small amount of ham and loads of veg
L - (well kind of) I had a bowl of mixed berries and watermelon with Greek yoghurt, which I snacked on throughout the day - want to buy some seeds to add in future for fibre etc
D - baked cod fillet, veg and potato in a basic white sauce (no added butter etc). Couldn't finish this!
Drinks - tea with milk, lots of fizzy water, peppermint tea (heard this was good?)

Tbh I had to force down the dinner as I realised I was feeling a bit dizzy and headachey, but I wasn't actually hungry 😬. Think I need to have a proper think about what I need in terms of nutrients

What kinds of meals have you planned @Mounjaroday (and anyone else)? I usually have really spicy stuff so today was pretty boring food-wise, but it felt like eating to get some nutrition rather than for pleasure which I guess is the point!

FatBottomGirlz · 02/02/2025 06:58

@Feb2025start I have been eating:
Breakfast-20g all bran (for the fibre) making it with milk or protein shakes, and adding berries.
Lunch- home made soup or a chicken/prawn/tuna salad
Dinner- tiny portion of whatever family are having, but focussing on protein and veg and dropping carbs
Snacks If required are fruit usually

I'm struggling to get over 1000kcal so occasionally adding nuts/avocado etc to help with that so I'm eating enough. I weigh and track everything in the Nutracheck app

Except yesterday when we met friends at the pub. Breakfast as usual, lunch was pub starter about 350kcal. Various drinks (alcohol) and a take away on the way home. No side effects so far but it's still early.

Tomorrow is my 2nd injection

timeformetolose · 02/02/2025 08:19

I had a big night out planned yesterday I was really sensible with the food but had a few more drinks than planned and not the lowest kcal options, but onwards and upwards today at least so far I am not desperately craving really bad foods

Feb2025start · 02/02/2025 08:27

@FatBottomGirlz that sounds good! Yes I think I need to up my fibre intake. I think I'm going to aim for porridge for breakfast then a protein and veg based lunch and dinner with fruit for snacks as a general rule! Just downloaded Nutracheck too - I've previously used myfitnesspal when dieting but think I prefer the simplicity of Nutracheck, so thanks for that tip!

I'm doing this alongside stopping drinking for a month or two - I'm pretty sure any willpower needed would go out the window otherwise! Its a big lifestyle change though 😳

Mounjaroday · 02/02/2025 08:42

Bean chilli with a tiny portion of rice and an avocado on the side was yesterday’s dinner. I had an apple during the day.

I’m struggling to eat at all during the day at the moment. I don’t think about eating and I just don’t fancy anything.

Tonight is oxtail stew with loads of veg. Adding barley to that and giving potatoes a miss. Have bought some beautiful tomatoes so will have bruschetta for lunch, but swapping out the bread for a ryvita. I will have two glasses of wine tonight.
… potentially all quite rich so will see how it goes!

Tomorrow is salmon and veg.
Tuesday is homemade pesto and roasted veg with a very small portion of whole pasta.
Lunches: left over bean chilli!

DH keeps offering me stuff. Chocolate! Sausages in baguette! Cocktails! Before would have been hard to resist but now easy to say NO.

@Feb2025start if you like Greek yoghurt and berries, Michael Mosley’s fast 800 has a good warm compote recipe that you might like.
Basically 100g frozen berries and a couple of dates chopped up really small. Throw it in a pan and heat gently. Serve with yogurt. Top with cinnamon or seeds or whatever x

So I took my injection Friday afternoon, no side affects at all (hoping that continues). I don't know if I feel any different yet, I still feel hungry and can still eat the same meals but then it's been less than 2 days!!!! I keep overthinking it, just because I'm so desperate for it to work. This is all a total secret from all friends and family, I'm very sensitive about my weight and appearance and I just won't be able to deal with any negativity without getting emotional. As this really means a lot to me.

I went to the gym yesterday and am off to pilates on Monday, I've read a lot about muscle wastage and I have very little to begin with, and I know I read a few posts elsewhere where people have regretted not doing strength exercises at the begining of their journey. My thighs and bum are killing me today!

Ingot recommended from a friend a set of scales on Amazon called Renpho and they're brilliant, about £20, I wish I'd upgraded years ago. They keep meet motivated as they break everything down l, BMI, fat in it's various forms, bone mass, you name it.

Off to the in laws today, they make The best roast dinner in the world so today will be a test!!! Have a good day everyone x

Bluehels · 02/02/2025 08:56

Yesterday i redownloaded mfp and scrolled back to 5years ago when I was on a vlcd and had lost a lot of weight. Really want to get back there 🤞
I still don’t feel any different really since my injection on friday. Hoping i will start to feel some effect soon?
