Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

I've ordered this week, being delivered tomorrow and I'm starting on Sunday - excited! Starting weight is 73kg and goal is 50kg.

Been making healthier choices for a couple of weeks and getting nowhere fast so I've taken the plunge.

Will be following to help keep on track!

MountainMama85 · 31/01/2025 23:41

After reading through loads of posts on here, and after seeing a friend change her life (going from 102kg to 63kg) I bit the bullet and ordered from Oushk today using the discount code from monj.

I’m 40 this year and I feel miserable in my own skin and really want to get fit and healthy, not just slimmer. I have put this off as I know how judgemental my own thoughts have been. But after trying really hard with spin classes 3-4 times a week last year + calorie restriction + healthy food and not seeing results … sod it.

Aside from the serious ones, the side effect I am most worried about is hair loss as mine is already so thin.

I also haven’t told anyone, feel too embarrassed.

My order arrives 5th Feb. Feeling nervous.

SW/CW: 85kg (BMI 31.6)
GW: 60kg (BMI 22)

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 01/02/2025 05:09

Hi, can I join please? I actually started in December but the stopped after 1 pen as we were on holiday in Jan, travelling in hot countries with no guaranteed access to a fridge.

So I started again yesterday with a 2.5 pen. I'm getting the prescription via my GP as I have diabetes. I'm not particularly interested in losing weight (although I'm overweight and need to lose a stone to get my BMI under 25) but I'm desperate to get my blood sugars under control

Just gave myself my first injection! I'd been a bit worried that I'd mess it up somehow but it was very simple and straightforward.

@viktoria that's an amazing loss already! You must be so pleased 😊

@Mounjaroday I haven't told anyone, not even DH! It's not so much that I'm worried about reactions or being judged, more that I feel like people knowing will make it more stressful/pressured, especially if I turn out to be non-responsive at the 2.5 level (as I know many people are). My older sister lives overseas and is on weight loss meds of some kind (they're pills prescribed by her GP) and she didn't tell anyone until she'd lost enough for it to be noticeable so I'll probably do the same.

I’ve not told my husband either. How have you hidden your pen? I’ve put mine in the fridge inside a 4 pack carton of drinks and hoping he won’t find it. Although a cupboard would be much easier, but obviously not as chilled.

Mine is hidden in the gap between a jar of gherkins and a jar of pickled roast peppers in the top fridge door shelf. Not a chance DH would ever move either of those 😅

Tbh my DH could probably do with being on this programme more than me (he's very overweight 😬) so I'm partly wanting to wait until it makes a difference for me before suggesting he tries it too (he'd almost certainly dismiss it out of hand if I just suggested it to him now!)

VioletsHeart · 01/02/2025 06:57

@Mounjaroday I’m just checking in on you post pizza? Hope you’ve avoided side effects and are okay.
I’m not a Feb starter (June last year, at goal, working on maintenance which is who new world)
Everyone is different but for me pizza in first few months gave me intense acid. Lamb gave me diarrhoea, beef - beefy burbs the next day.
If I found a food gave me side effects I avoided it, or cut down for a bit and gentle reintroduced weeks or months later. I can eat pizza now. Half is my hard max. I carry antacid everywhere. I can eat shepherd’s pie without issue. Beef is still a bit burpy, but smaller amount usually minimises.
Above shared in case of any help. Do ask on the main continuing Mounjaro board we’re on thread 24 now, if you’d ever like help from folk who have gone before.

Good luck to all starting out. Starting was one of the best things I’ve done for me. Oh and @Feb2025start my husband was darkly suspicious of it to start off with but is very proud of me and he started in Dec and is nearly a stone down.

Right I shall butt out now and leave you to chat about your exciting new starts. Good luck again x

billysboy · 01/02/2025 07:15

Just trying to get on board with this I will have agoogle and see if I am brave enough to join you all

CottonCandyLand · 01/02/2025 07:18

I’m starting Feb 1st. I, not in the UK so have to have it on prescription and it’s SO expensive!
im T2 diabetic so im hoping for blood sugar control, weight loss and also a reduction in alcohol desire as I have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol

Laf90 · 01/02/2025 07:29

I got approved yesterday by shemed, pen hasn't been dispatched yet so assume it'll arrive early next week.

Start weight 98kg
Goal weight 68kg

Excited but nervous for the side effects

rach7979 · 01/02/2025 07:31

I've just ordered my pen. I'm really excited but super apprehensive.

SW: 14st 10
GW: 10st 6

I'm really nervous about the possible side effects, though I know not everyone gets them. I'm a teacher, so having an upset stomach worries me!

Feb2025start · 01/02/2025 07:32

A (probably silly but quite a big deal to me...) update!

Had my first dose yesterday afternoon. I generally sleep badly and usually have several toilet trips and awake periods during the night, and last night was much the same. In our flat our bedroom is right next to the kitchen, which I knew to contain various treats (mostly DH's unfortunately) - usually, every toilet trip would involve a few spoons of ice cream, half a yoghurt, a handful of grapes, a Haribo or three... and if I'm lying there unable to sleep I'll end up fixating on ice cream etc until I cave and go and get some. God knows how many calories I consume nightly due to this habit! 😬

HOWEVER - last night, no urges, nothing, zilch, nada! I just didn't even think about snacking. I just got up to get my morning tea and even opened the freezer door and looked at the ice cream (as some kind of personal 'test' 😅) and tbh the thought of it made me feel sick. Really hopeful now that this is actually going to work!!

Good luck everyone else who's joined the thread 😊

Mounjaroday · 01/02/2025 08:11

Not silly at all @Feb2025start - that’s huge! (Icecream is usually a weakness for me, too. I made two batches this week for the kids and wasn’t even remotely tempted to have some).

Thank you @VioletsHeart for the check in and advice. Feel totally fine this morning thank god and slept so well.

I’m meal planning today. I really like many of the recipes in the fast 800- might start there for inspiration.

Welcome to everyone else on has joined this group. Good luck. Would love to hear how you get on.

My DH knows I'm taking it but noone else. I've put it in the veg drawer - the teenager definitely won't look in there!

@rach7979 I'm a teacher too, that's why I've chosen to jab on a Friday night. I'm hoping it gives me the weekend for the worst of any side effects!

@Feb2025start that's a brilliant start. I haven't felt any hunger this morning, whereas I would usually be thinking about what to have for My. It feels strange doesn't it!

@Mounjaroday Good luck with your meal planning. I have a food delivery arriving today. Hard to know what to get with everyone saying different foods can make them feel ill.

TootieFrooties · 01/02/2025 08:46

I'm also a teacher. I'm two weeks in now and I'll be doing my third this morning.

I've had absolute no side effects at all. I've definitely been eating less. I have a warbutons 'thins' for my sandwich every day and a quarter of a Aldi tub of Greek yogurt and I'm finding I can't be bothered to eat it.

I only work three days and I walk the dog first thing on my non working days before breakfast and usually I'm ravenous by the time I come home but this week I wasn't at all.

TootieFrooties · 01/02/2025 08:47

You don't have to store your pen in the fridge after the first injection so mine is in the spare room now.

Littlebitpsycho · 01/02/2025 09:04

Hi all

I tried to use IQ doctor as it gives a code for 30% off for new customers on the Monj website - but when I put the code in, it says it's not accepted.

Anyone else had this problem?

IWillFitIntoThoseClothesAgain · 01/02/2025 10:41

I'm in! Teacher here too! Just about to take my very first jab...got 4 days not working to allow for any 'down below issues'. The thought of needing to go in the middle of a class, with those teenagers watching, has put me off starting this journey!
Not sure how to save this page so I can find you all quickly again. Also wondering if anybody uses 'huel hi protein milkshakes' or 'slimfast' whilst using mounjaro?

17 stone weigh-in day 1

IWillFitIntoThoseClothesAgain · 01/02/2025 10:52

Well maybe not. Didnt realise the needles weren't included! Can I buy these seperately from boots/asda?

SilenceInside · 01/02/2025 11:01

@IWillFitIntoThoseClothesAgain Who did you order from? Nearly all pharmacies include the needles, the one I know that doesn't is The Family Chemist who make it clear on their website you need to add them to the order.

The needles are small and not in the box with the pen. Could they still be in the packaging that was sent to you?

You're absolutely right!! They're in the packaging. I'm a stupid 🐄. That's how nervous I am!

SilenceInside · 01/02/2025 11:13

@IWillFitIntoThoseClothesAgain glad you've found them, I think it's because they're added separately by the pharmacies that people sometimes don't spot them. I've seen several people post on the threads here who have had the same question, so it really isn't you being stupid, it's just all new to you. Hope the first injection goes ok.

NikkiReader · 01/02/2025 11:23

@Littlebitpsycho I'm using IQ doctor too, I didn't know there was a code though 😭. However, I can say that I ordered it on Thursday about 2:30 pm and royal mail had it with me the very next morning! V speedy service

MJSpideySenses · 01/02/2025 11:25

@IWillFitIntoThoseClothesAgain I teach primary thankfully, hats off to you! Glad you found the needles. I have also seen others who haven't seen them in the package. Hope it goes well.

@TootieFrooties I have a similar plan for meals, so glad to hear it seems to work for you. I'm going to use protein flatbreads rather than sandwich thins, for a bit of extra protein.

Mounjaroday · 01/02/2025 11:36

Caved and weighed myself. 1.5kg lighter since Tuesday. Don’t feel so bad about that pizza last night now. Phew!!
