Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

@obsessedlex my husband is already a skinny minny so playing catch up here… if it makes you feel any better I’ve lost 0lb week one 😑 so 3lb is smashing it!! Well done!

Ilovelemonandsugarpancakes · 13/02/2025 10:11

Weigh in day for me and 8lbs down which is unbelieveable (for me). Moving forward I know this will be a one off being week 1 and probably isn't good for me anyway.

Trying to stick with 800-1200 calories per day but by day 6 I'm craving allsorts of food, especially wine! Finding my willpower definitely waivers by day 6😁

MountainMama85 · 13/02/2025 10:11

@coffeeismyvice I’m keeping mine completely secret. The judgement can be awful - and I was also guilty of having some of those thoughts myself prior to starting. just focus on you and your journey.

I am calorie counting based on the TDEE calculator (using the the number for cutting rather than maintaining, you can google and work out based on your measurements). Not religiously (I don’t want it to replace the food noise I was so desperate to be rid of!) but because I want to develop greater awareness, healthy habits and portion control for when I eventually wean off MJ. My main focus is tracking my protein and fibre intake.

good luck and welcome! X

Poppins17 · 13/02/2025 10:37

Morning,

My order arrived this morning so I’m now officially part of the Mounjaro club!

I’m so very excited to feel like ‘me’ again.

Water all prepped for the day and food plan sorted for the week.

I’m currently at home so hoping I can deal with any side effects easily.

Excited to be joining you all.

coffeeismyvice · 13/02/2025 10:51

Mounjaroday · 13/02/2025 09:41

Not too late at all. Welcome!

My wine habit was similar to yours, maybe more 😬 Easily a glass or two every night during the week plus more at weekends. Last week I was still over 14 units but had 4 dry days, so do feel i’m going in the right direction here.

I’’m loosely calorie counting - it’s not an exact science for me but I am keeping a very strict eye over my intake. I hear that taking body measurements is also very beneficial but I haven’t done this.

Best of luck x

thank you!
I can be very hard on myself and set hard unachievable goals, so I'm trying to do it differently this time. I figured a decent reduction is a good start - and hoping when I go up to 5mg the booze noise will be as quiet as the food noise.

I'm kicking myself for not doing start measurements but have done those this week. It was as sobering as the photos I had to upload 😬

coffeeismyvice · 13/02/2025 11:01

Yup, I won't be telling anyone else @MountainMama85 I'm shocked to be called lazy, especially when it is hormone issues / medical condition and such a hard fight to lose even a pound here and there.

I've been using MFP to track macros and calories. Hitting protein and fibre goals seems hard so I think I need to find new recipes!

Thanks for the welcome x

SpiralSister · 13/02/2025 11:09

I haven’t told anyone either. Not even DH.

I just want this to be the one thing for me, my business.

Mind you, if it works and I lose all the weight, I probably won’t be able to shout up about it! 😂

Still no reduction in food noise or appetite whatsoever though. Just hope that’s early days stuff, rather than being in the tiny minority for whom it doesn’t work 🤞🏻

SpiralSister · 13/02/2025 11:18

Has anyone else got any negative self talk about becoming properly slim? I notice that I’d be really happy to be merely ‘overweight’ rather than obese, but that becoming a weight around the middle of my BMI range seems not just unattainable, but also NOT ME. I’ve always been curvy, hourglass figure until menopause broke the glass 😂, and frankly, I think I looked fabulous at 11 stone.

I’ve also been a stone lighter than that and I didn’t like it. Or am I kidding myself?

Febnewbie · 13/02/2025 11:26

@SpiralSister

Yes, I do and I really liked how I looked at 11st.

When I was under that, as a result of serious illness, I felt really bony and uncomfortable

But I am going to take it one step at a time. Even though there's part of me already looking at the maintenance threads!

MaddyM8 · 13/02/2025 12:14

Si after a week and a half my MJ has finally arrived. I'm so nervous for some reason but I think it's due to the possible side effects. I don't know whether to do it now or wait till later. But I'm also very impatient so I think just do it now. (I probably will just to get it over with)

I'm going to try in my arm I think.

Fingers 🤞

Ohplesandbanonos · 13/02/2025 12:14

I started my second week yesterday and have lost 3kg so far which I'm very pleased with! I'm currently about 11st and need to get to about 8st to be healthy for me (I'm very short!)

My only side effect is feeling very cold! And I have to keep reminding myself to eat. Focusing on nutrition and protein.

Febnewbie · 13/02/2025 12:21

I amazed by how quickly this has kicked in for me. Usually I would have eaten my lunch by now.

Today I am totally unbothered

MaddyM8 · 13/02/2025 12:35

Ive also told my DH. I ordered without telling him and then when it arrived he said what's that and I said look you might not understand this but.... he was actually really great but been told not to mention it to anyone else until I feel like I'm ready to. Mainly told him incase of any nasty side effects and incase he needs to keep an eye on me. I feel better since I told him to be honest so I don't feel so alone and worried. I've took it out the fridge and I'm going to inject first dose soon.

Height: 5,1
CW: 13.8 (lost couple lbs)
GW: 11 stone to start possibly 10 if possible

Good luck all can't wait to see your losses/experiences

Justtryingthis · 13/02/2025 12:39

Ohhh. I fear my journey may be coming to an end 😞

I have a history of ectopic heartbeat and SVT. The prescriber knew all this but was happy for me to start MJ.
Since I started last week I’ve noticed these symptoms getting worse.. and last night I had a big episode which was very scary.
I’m concerned as I go up the weeks and doses this is going to get worse so reluctantly I think I’m out. Waiting for a prescriber to get back to me to chat it through. 😞

obsessedlex · 13/02/2025 13:03

@Justtryingthis hope you hear back from the prescriber soon, that sounds v scary x

Ke11 · 13/02/2025 13:07

All good the morning after dose 2, no side effects to speak of really other than feeling a bit cold. I did wake up in the night with what felt like bad indigestion and nausea but all gone by the morning

Choux · 13/02/2025 14:03

@Justtryingthis I think your prescriber will tell you to see your GP which would be my advice from what you have said. Your GP knows more about your overall health than your prescriber and, if needed could also refer you to a cardiologist for advice.

I know nothing about ectopic heartbeat but looking online it says that maintaining a healthy weight is important in preventing it. It also says "If an ectopic heartbeat happens often and it’s impacting your daily life, your healthcare provider may recommend a beta-blockerr_. These medications slow your heart rate and make it more regular."

Depending on your weight and the severity of the condition they could say it's important to lose weight and authorize staying on a low dose for a steady loss. Or they may say you should use a beta blocker temporarily. Or they may advise you to come off the Mounjaro. But you need a GP / specialist to advise you not an online prescriber.

I read about it here.

my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/23000-ectopic-heartbeat

Justtryingthis · 13/02/2025 14:18

@Choux Im already on quite a hefty dose of two beta blockers for it. I asked my heart consultant if it was safe for me to go on MJ and he said it was… so I’ve got in touch with him too.
So disheartening. 😞

Choux · 13/02/2025 14:41

It's right that you are taking it seriously and getting advice but you may be able to continue. If losing weight js more beneficial to your health than the increased risk of being on Mounjaro then they may say it's ok to continue. They may suggest staying on the lowest dose that gives you weightloss rather than moving up to 15mg but that's ok - you will still get the MJ benefit and support. Good luck.

Feb2025start · 13/02/2025 14:43

Oh no @Justtryingthis that's crappy for you! Disclaimer - this is coming from a place of complete ignorance, but would trying Wegovy be an option? As it has a similar effect on appetite to MJ but via a different active ingredient? Or maybe reducing the dose - I read a thread earlier on microdosing (here - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5258064-has-anyone-started-on-a-micro-dose-of-mounjaro-how-many-clicks) which was quite interesting! Seems that some people respond well to smaller doses and experience fewer side effects generally...

Obviously your heart health is the most important thing but just some things you could discuss with the prescriber/your consultant? Good luck 🤞

Has anyone started on a micro dose of mounjaro? How many clicks? | Mumsnet

I can’t seem to find out how many clicks to microdose my pen to avoid side effects. 😓

Started Saturday, so 5 days in. Felt nausous all week but not too bad, I feel like that's worn off a bit now. Suppression still in full swing. I have to remember to eat. So strange not to have the normal urges but I like it!

SW: 16st 9
GW: 12st 11

FunnyCrabDance · 13/02/2025 15:51

Due 2nd jab tomorrow and bizarrely looking forward to it! Official weigh in tomorrow but sneaky peak looks like 3 or 4 lbs.
I'm definitely am not getting the absolutely no appetite effect yet as im managing 3 decent meals, focusing on protein and fibre goals but i dont feel hungry until i start to eat, which is really odd! Not craving any junk or treats and not thinking constantly about what i could have is so nice 😊
Out for an early valentines dinner this evening, with a dh who still doesnt know. This might be the first meal out ever that i dont get pudding, he's going to wonder whats up...

RowNine · 13/02/2025 16:02

A week and a half in here. Lost 5kg which I'm pretty pleased about though now stressing about getting my next pen prescribed as my BMI is now about 27 (previously 28ish + high blood pressure).

Has anyone experience of this?

I asked this before (can't remember which thread) and was told that provided you have a prescription already and aren't borderline underweight etc most pharmacies will happily prescribe the next dose up. I'm still a bit anxious though as I'm nearly out of the 'obese' category too! For me personally, I'm going to switch for the next dose as other pharmacies have better long term prices and then stick with that pharmacy. I'm hoping it'll make things simpler to just progress up the doses with the same pharmacy rather than switching every month for discounts etc as some on here do!

MaddyM8 · 13/02/2025 17:28

Few hours in after jabbing, I went for the arm after reading around. Slight nausea and burping but it's like sick burps but manageable and suddenly feel cold but not sure if it's the jab or just because it's actually cold (despite my heating being on all day haha)
