Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

Fajitas is a ten minute (ish) favourite in our house. I just fry up chicken/meat alternative, peppers and red onion with paprika and cumin, grated cheese, yoghurt, fresh tomato salsa with coriander, and protein wraps.

Also batch cook things like chilli and spag bol to have on hand as lots of nights I can’t be arsed.

MountainMama85 · 12/02/2025 20:58

@SpiralSister it’s definitely rubbish but I know I need to focus on the long term journey. Just disappointed when seeing others numbers/results!
I was so desperate to get that second jab in me today after being so nervous last week 😂

j00ls106 · 12/02/2025 21:00

Hello All,

I have taken the plunge and ordered MJ which arrived today. I took my first dose at lunchtime. I have had slight soreness from the injection site (thigh), a very slight headache, and have felt cold this evening - which is unusual for me. However, these are minimal, so may or may not be related to the injection.

SW 17st 9.4lbs
GW 11 st

I have managed to eat a lot of protein today and drank 2 litres of water, plus 2 x coffees. I will be at work for the next 3 days so hopefully that will help me not think about food while this kicks in and I will get my steps in. I normally get between 8,000-14, 000 steps per shift.

What I’m really looking forward to, apart from the weight loss and becoming more healthy, is having more energy and being able to go and buy clothes that I look nice in rather than clothes that will fit me.

There have been some inspirational posts on the site and I look forward to starting my MJ journey with you all. Xx

Ugh I had a work event - not mandatory but I'm quite new so felt I had to go along really. Ended up having a slice of one of the pizzas our boss ordered for the table (we were at somewhere that only did pizza/burgers/fries etc) plus a sickly cocktail, again ordered by the boss 🤢. Feel gross but also still hungry! Staying in a hotel too so limited options - reckon I'll grab some sushi or something similarly plain to mop up the fat/carbs/sugar/alcohol. Fingers crossed I'm not ill tomorrow... 😬

MountainMama85 · 12/02/2025 21:05

@imdesperatedan been there, always a sucker punch 😔 sorry that happened. Hope you’re feeling ok now

MountainMama85 · 12/02/2025 21:09

@j00ls106 welcome! Headache and cold were my first symptoms. The cold has persisted all week, and is a known side effect as they affect thermogenesis. I’ve been really wrapping up each day which is unusual for me!

other than that, minimal side effects, less food noise and getting full really easily which is refreshing.

good luck! X

Just wanted to second this (I’m so sorry I missed your post @imdesperatedan), been there too. That really sucks. People can be so bloody rude!

Took my 2nd jab this morning, by midday I was bloody freezing. Same happened with my 1st jab but it went after about 3 days, that’s probably my only side affect. I’m usually always hot so having to layer up which is new! I’ve got a really sore throat, but I think that’s courtesy of my kids 🤧 not the jab.

Everyones doing so well, this is such a good place to read other peoples experiences with MJ x

MountainMama85 · 12/02/2025 22:27

@Roxymama also did my 2nd jab this morning - the cold has been my biggest nemesis this week. I’ve been wearing gloves during the day at my desk 😂

@Littlebitpsycho done my second dose at about half 6 tonight and same, was a pretty small amount though so I'm not concerned.

QuitChewingMyPlectrum · 12/02/2025 23:56

Hi, not too late to join am I?
SW: 110kg
Hoping to lose a few stone but don't have a specific goal weight in mind.

Just jabbed for the first time. Doing this with DH so expecting to be jealous when he drops more quickly than I do 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also have a walking pad to try and get less sedentary while at work.

Anyone else have a really sedentary job?

Mounjaroday · 13/02/2025 00:22

Welcome!

Yes I am super sedentary. Work from home sitting on my plump behind all day!

Have started a morning walk. Earphones in. Podcast on. 2 miles. Treat myself to a coffee half way.

coffeeismyvice · 13/02/2025 06:39

Hi, I hope I’m not too late to join. I started 2 weeks ago and I’m feeling quite alone with it all. DH is being super supportive, I’ve only told a couple of friends but the judgement is loud. Thankful to find the advice here and some really great tips.

Four stone has piled on slowly but steadily in the past 5/6 years. I’ve always exercised and eaten well, but I have a very angry snack monster who makes constant noise in my head. And I sink into a glass or 2 of wine most evenings -- but really want to kick this habit.

2.5 weeks in (Mounjarno with Numad) I’m a few kilos down, food noise has quietened considerably… I need to work on the wine witch but I’m feeling more positive than I have done in years.

I’m quite fatigued and my legs and arms/hands are achy and I feel quite cold. It almost feels like flu symptoms so I am wondering if I’m just fighting something off. And I’m having the weirdest dreams... some days, I wake up feeling like I’ve had about five minutes sleep!

I’m 5’1”, 51 and BMI is 34.6.
SW 82.7 kg
CW 78.4 kg
GW 58 kg

I’m not counting calories and haven’t set a daily limit. Should I be doing this?

Thanks x

Feb2025start · 13/02/2025 07:00

@QuitChewingMyPlectrum yep, my job is a fatal combination of extremely sedentary plus high stress, longish hours and really lends itself to convenience foods/snacks etc (I'm a lawyer).

I'm pretty sure this is a big part of the reason I've piled on weight, especially since COVID meant mostly working from home... I have to really push myself to go to the gym or for a walk after work/at lunch. I used to use a step counter (must download the app again!) and my personal best (well, worst!) was 53 steps in 24 hours 🤣 basically bed to desk to sofa and back to bed with the odd bathroom/kitchen visit!

One of my unexpected (and very welcome!) MJ side effects seems to be increased energy which has made it far easier to get to the gym etc!

Good luck 😊

Thank you Flowers I should be used to it as I work in a mental health unit so regularly told to fuck off, etc, but it’s the one thing that I can’t do is when it involves my weight. I’m trying to think that at least he’s being factual - I am very overweight - and I’m doing something about it, but it’s hard.

Another 1/4 of a pound off overnight, according to Numan I’ve lost 7lb in total now. Apparently that’s normal for your first week. I’ve got slimming world on Saturday morning, I’m not sure if I should tell them 😂 I’m vaguely following their diet at the same time, but more to make sure I’m getting a decent amount of nutrition in.

Is anyone else taking extra vitamins etc? I’m taking a multivitamin with iron (Tesco cheap one), extra one for hair health and then some form of extra protein as well (eg protein shake or yoghurt, etc). Not sure if all that’s even needed!

I'd love to do that. Unfortunately, my kiddo is not in school at the moment and in burnout so getting outside is a tricky one.
The walking pad will help I hope until I can get them back in

Similar field for me so I get you!
Thanks for the good luck. Feeling full of beans myself this morning. If that's a side effect ill take it

Febnewbie · 13/02/2025 08:16

Similar story re COVID for me as well

I went from getting 10-15k steps every day, taking in a packed lunch and only eating that, to WFH and access to the full fridge..

I am now back on a decent routine, I WFH two days and I do strength training those days and at the weekend sometimes

But while I think this routine would work fine for maintenance, it isn't enough to get the weight off in the first place

Day 2 for me and I already feel less puffy somehow and appetite suppression definitely kicked in. I also didn't really fancy coffee first thing

FatBottomGirlz · 13/02/2025 08:50

This short yoga video worked for me for constipation. The end section of massage is really useful

Not too late at all. Welcome!

My wine habit was similar to yours, maybe more 😬 Easily a glass or two every night during the week plus more at weekends. Last week I was still over 14 units but had 4 dry days, so do feel i’m going in the right direction here.

I’’m loosely calorie counting - it’s not an exact science for me but I am keeping a very strict eye over my intake. I hear that taking body measurements is also very beneficial but I haven’t done this.

Best of luck x

It was really, really tasty. The whole family loved it. So easy. Not much washing up and some leftovers for lunch too. My kind of meal!

OP posts:
Febnewbie · 13/02/2025 09:49

I wasn't planning to calorie count as I find that a bit of a pain - I was going to go with two meals a day, no snacks, no sweets, moderate portions.
