Cross posting if ok to you more experienced mj folks!

My life long weigh day has always been a Monday but because I was impatient to start mj I did my first jab 3 weeks ago on a Wednesday and now having two different weigh days is really bugging me!

I am now thinking, if I bring my 4th and final 2.5mg forward to tomorrow and my slightly higher bonus dose next week forward by one day again, to Monday, I will have my lifelong Monday weigh in and my mj jab and weigh day all neatly together which is great, however...

My brain is now pondering... if by bringing those 2 doses forward over the next two weeks, it would increase the levels in my body a little more and therefore possibly help to reduce any side effects when I start on 5mg even more?

I have been very lucky on 2.5mg and not really had any side effects.

I would be interested if anyone has done this or has any thoughts on it.

Oh just to check, is there an app or just the main website? I only use a phone so I'm having to open my browser to check for messages in between doing other stuff. Bit of a technophobe here lol.

There is a Mumsnet talk app.
Some don't like it as there is less functionality on it than on website.
But I prefer it. I find it looks better and cleaner, if you know what I mean. It's less cluttered.

I'm grumpy today. Weight hasn't budged all week. I feel bloated. But I KNOW I stuck to a good calorie deficit.
I had two nights of pasta so I'm hoping it's sluggish digestion and water.
But to say I'm not a bit down about it would be a lie.
Wk1 -4lb
Wk2 -2lb
Wk3 0

Sw 19 st 12

Back at the gym this week, going to up the water too.
Every diet I ever tried started with no weight loss initially, and by the time it got going I'd given up the willpower. I think it's triggered me. The doubts are creeping in.

What dose are you on? If you're only on week 3 are you still on 2.5mg? If so please don't panic. It's not a therapeutic dose at that dosage. Most weight you'll have lost so far will likely be water weight but it's important to start somewhere.

You also might not lose every week. You might also lose slower than others, I'm a slow loser too. I've just had at least 4 weeks of a 1kg yo-yo. I've only slightly broken my barrier today but it's a loss.

If you haven't already I'd read a few pages back, there was some really good advice that was shared by others who have had bariatrics surgery like the 20-20-20 rule, not drinking before during or for half an hour after a meal. I personally am eating half a meal, waiting 20 minutes and then eating half of the remains if I am still hungry but generally I will feel full after 20 minutes.

It's important to work out your maintenance calorie intake at your current weight too so you can aim for lower than that, but remember as you lose weight your maintaining calories will also decrease so its something that might need to be revisited.

Also in 3 weeks a 6lb loss total is fantastic. That's almost half a stone. That's nothing to be scoffed at. You haven't put it all back on. There are babies that weigh 6lb. You have basically lost the weight of an entire human infant in 3 weeks.

I used my fb account to sign up here & now I don't know how to sign in to the app cause it's asking for an email amd password. I'm so bad at this.

supadupapupascupa · 02/09/2024 20:59

@Jimmyneutronsforehead thank you
I think that's why I'm deflated.
I know my TDEE and I'm 1000 to 500 calories under that.
My meals like you have been half, great supression. Little food noise.
I have IBS and I feel clogged even though I've been going every day.
I'm sure it's fine. I will keep going.
I've ordered the 5mg pen and will start that after the bonus dose (if I succeed in getting it out)

MountKilimounjaro · 02/09/2024 21:01

I have a stupid trouser dilemma.

I have a favourite pair of work trousers that I love...they got wayyyyy too tight pre MJ. Could barely do them up at times.

But now they're super loose, almost falling down. But I don't want to go down a size because every time I put them on I can feel just how much weight I've lost.

If I get new trousers a size smaller then it will feel like I've not made any progress (I know! Ridiculous).

I'm normally very sensible I promise.

I just ordered wee butterfly pins from a well known online retailer (She) -not sure if I can say it here. The pins help to reduce waistband to pinch it in a bit. That might help you.

MountKilimounjaro · 02/09/2024 21:07

@MamaBearH ohhh good idea.

Although I fear I'm getting close to them being ridiculously oversized. A nice problem to have I guess!

I think this is OK to do.

As for side effects it's hard to know how you'll react and what your body's threshold is for side effects but for a lot of us the side effects have been minimal and manageable even with the bonus doses.

I can't remember who it was but they asked their clinician if they could bring their dose forward a day as they were getting hunger pangs quite intensely and the clinician said that the risk of side effects would be minimal compared to the risks otherwise so by that I would assume if it's not a regular instance then taking your dose a day early would be fine and as you say the cumulative effects from the build up would hopefully help with future side effects.

Please remember though we're not doctors or clinicians so although we share our experiences it's between you and your prescriber what you do with your dose to bring it in line with weigh day.

Well this weight loss thing is just baffling. I’m a teacher, so haven’t seen many of my colleagues for 5.5 weeks. Went in for INSET today just dressed in leggings and t shirt (had to unpack classrooms after major building works) and five people separately commented that I’d lost a lot of weight.

Lovely NSV you might think….but I’m a very slow loser and over the summer I’ve only lost four pounds. How do people notice that and not the 2 stone that I lost prior to the summer holidays? I can’t even argue that I’ve lost around the waist etc, as my measurements have barely changed!

Weird. Lovely, but weird.

Ifyounevergiveup · 02/09/2024 21:20

@MountKilimounjaro well, you could get them altered. But if I were you I’d keep them. Just put them in the back of your wardrobe. As you keep losing weight it’ll be difficult for you to judge progress; somehow you just don’t see it yourself. I have a pair of trousers I kept from when I was 3.5 stone heavier and every now and again I get them out just to remind myself how far I’ve come. It’s cool when they fall off!

@MamaBearH ooh, what are butterfly pins? Will they help keep my favourite cargos going a bit longer before I have them altered?

MamaBearH · 02/09/2024 21:23

I moved my injection day from a Tuesday to a Monday then 2 weeks later moved it to the Sunday so only 1 day at a time. It suits me better now and I weigh Monday morning.

Can we mention retailers on here?

There are 2 pins that attach to your trousers at a gap. You then fold the excess material to hook the 2 pins together which cinches your waistband. I'm hoping to get longer out of my jeans.
I was able to buy leggings on sale for 4 quid to tie me over.

Brands are fine, so are links to products you've bought. Swearing is also allowed along with many others things are not permitted in other areas of the internet.

Not allowed is being purposefully insulting towards other people and troll hunting.

Ifyounevergiveup · 02/09/2024 21:56

@MamaBearH @Ineffable23 thanks, Ineffable! Mama! Tell me about the butterfly pins!

@Slimstar13 following similar advice you gave me, I’m going for fewer carbs this week. This is the exact opposite of how I usually eat, so let’s see if I lose a gram 🙃

I often struggle to come up with ideas for meals that are high protein

So have purchased this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Good-Bites-High-Protein-Manual-ebook/dp/B0CJ2C6GNR?dplnkId=a434fb2e-bc63-43d2-ac30-7a2fc7e0e99c

All the reviews are good and on initial flick through I like the look of most recipes 😊

Each recipe is for 4 portions with the idea that they should be able to be portioned up and kept in the fridge a couple of days!

I'm going to try a feta/chicken orzo pasta for tomorrows lunch!

I shall report back how it goes !

SW: 19st 10
W7: 17st 10

Down another 3 lbs today.
BMI 36.8 down from 41
That makes a total of 2 stone, and 10% body weight gone.
Lots of clothes too big. (Tops)
Still a long way to go but v chuffed.

I picked up my first prescription of HRT this morning.
Did anyone start HRT during MJ and did it have any effect, positive or negative ?

This is my question too. Did 10 days on MJ with pretty good weight loss then started HRT. Not much movement now. From what I've read it'll sort itself out but might take awhile.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 02/09/2024 22:30

Hi @MabelSpan ,

I also started my MJ journey on a Wednesday, then on week 3 I pushed it back to Tuesday - it was quite clear in all of the literature I got from Voy that it's fine to bring it forward by up to 3 days if necessary.

Last week which was my bonus dose I moved it forward to Monday night - simply because I was starting to feel hungrier and there was a bit of food noise creeping back.

It's not caused me any problems at all. So I'm sure it will be fine for you to do.

Have just injected my first 5mg - praying for no nasty side effects 🤞

@Wallywobbles & @Melty re HRT - I was already on it when I started but lost almost a stone in the first 5 weeks so I don't think the HRT had any negative impact on my MJ.

Well done everyone on the great weight losses!

QueenOfHiraeth · 02/09/2024 23:27

I haven't been brilliant this week so am not looking forward to weighing tomorrow but, on the positive side, I had my first session with a personal trainer today who seems lovely so I am quite hopeful I might be able to get into some better exercise habits

Doobi · 03/09/2024 05:48

Hi,

I'm new here.. 10 days into my Mounjaro journey.

So far I've lost 3.5kg which I'm happy with. I'm due my third injection on Friday.

I have a lot of weight to lose but would love to be 3 stone lighter by Christmas. I'm not sure if that's realistic or not but one can hope!

diian · 03/09/2024 07:12

@Timeturnerplease I am a teacher too.I have an Inset day today after 8 weeks off (private school). Since the end of June I have lost nearly 2 stone, only 3 of these weeks were in school term time. It will be interesting to see if anyone notices. I popped in yesterday and no one commented/noticed. I have lost 13% of my initial body weight. Maybe I don’t look any different, but I certainly feel the difference.

Look forward to seeing you over there.

I'm feeling a bit rough today, possibly because of the dose increase I did this week, so as soon as I've dropped my little one off at school I think I might be having a nap so may miss the end of this thread if it moves fast.
