Ditto! I made it far more complicated in my head than it actually was. Stood holding it a while working out how I was going to stick it in myself 😂
Good luck fellow 18th Aug starter!

Thread 20!

I'm hovering around 14.7 stones and it's frustrating me 😆

NewLifter · 18/08/2024 22:29

Darlinghag · 18/08/2024 17:47

I received my first pen yesterday- bit nervous about the physical act of injecting - mainly messing it up!! I have been looking on youtube - anyone have any tips? really dont want to mess up the pen.

also a bit worried about nausea as a side effect - i think i can tolerate the other potential symptoms, so i am injecting this evening.

Welcome to the most supportive thread on MN!

Ok so first thing is, fold out the leaflet and take your time reading it.

Then look at your pen and needles and familiarise yourself with it all.

Then follow the instructions to prime and then inject. The first time you will think you're doing it wrong as you have to twist loads of times and the pen comes out really far - but that's correct!

It takes a fair bit of effort to fully depress the plunger - again, that's normal.

Good luck!

NewLifter · 18/08/2024 22:32

Welcome to all new people ❤️

Hi all
3rd jab yesterday - TOTM and the dodgy tummy is not pleasant! Couple of close calls when I’ve just made it to the loo in time!

feels like a very expensive laxative at the moment but also have to own up that I’ve eaten more junk food in the last few days which may be why!

some skinny bar chocolates
KFC chicken and chips
2 pizza slices - would normally have had 4 at least tbh

need to be careful and get back on it with better food choices!

Scales were playing up yesterday as they said 184.2 yesterday so have ignored them and
will weigh again in the morning.
I feel heavier than I was few days ago but also had this funny tummy and poor sleep to contend with.

NewLifter · 18/08/2024 22:51

KFC and pizza would definitely be an issue for me too, fatty foods are a big problem for me. At least it will help motivate you to make healthier choices most of the time (nothing wrong with treats on occasion!)

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 18/08/2024 22:56

Thread 19 is full so welcome to thread 20 officially.

Congrats to any one who made losses today. I've not made the cut myself but will weigh myself in the morning to see if my diet of feathers and dulcolax have made a difference.

Feel like I need to offer blood to the Gods to get past this hurdle.

I'm finding 5mg a strange one. I am on my second pen. I feel like I can eat a lot more in volume but certain foods give me the ick. I no longer binge. I feel low level nausea in the mornings but by tea time I can eat whatever I like. My puffy ankles are loads better but my hormonal migraines have returned this week. That one is the real bummer for me because I loved not having the migraines. I usually had these twice a month. I've gone off certain foods which is mostly good and the food noise is low but still there a bit. I do like not being so suppressed that people notice. If i sat picking at my food it would be so obvious!

Jab 2 today! Really tempted to do it before work but I've woken up feeling knackered (period is on its way), so I'm going to leave it till after the gym tonight

I definitely reckon my primary side effect is feeling "wibble" (knackered, a bit "off", sometimes a bit dizzy if I do hard exercise) after I've taken it so definitely sounds sensible to wait til after the gym I reckon.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 19/08/2024 06:59

@Ineffable23 it's hard to tell if I'm so tired because my period is right around the corner or because of the jab! Or just because I slept really badly last night lol

maybe the feathers have dehydrated you a bit 😀

Good morning, happy new week and happy new thread!
Congratulations on the losses and NSVs from the last couple of days and welcome to all newbies, we’re glad you’re here! :)

I had a slightly less active weekend, and a slightly higher calorie one (all healthy foods, just managed to actually eat all my meals), but I’m chuffed this morning to see I’m well and truly in the 80s! 89.1 kg this morning. My first (of many) goal - achieved!
I’m so so close to a 3 stone loss, I can taste it 😄 Unless of course my cycle messes things up, which it definitely will because I always “gain”/“stall” during ovulation.

Callmejudith · 19/08/2024 08:32

Thanks @Jimmyneutronsforehead for setting up!

Paperwhite13 · 19/08/2024 08:46

Hello! Just checking in on the new thread.

Weigh day today:
SW: 240lbs / 17.1st
CW: 209lbs / 14.9st

The next aim is to be under 200lbs.

I found this weekend a bit tougher than I usually do which means I'm probably due to go up to 7.5mg but I ordered my next pen in a 5mg last week.

Happycyclist · 19/08/2024 09:19

I listened to the food program yesterday and I
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0021xv1 and would recommend this episode. It is about food addiction ... not too heavy a listen and mentions diets/drugs etc.

The Food Programme - Addicted to Food - BBC Sounds

Sheila Dillon hears from people who say they are addicted to food.

SnacklessWonder · 19/08/2024 09:47

Jab 2 of 2.5mg last night. First official weigh-in this morning.

SW 11st 7.6lb
CW 11st 2.2lb

Always expect more off in the first week so not expecting as much for week 2 but would be immensely happy to see a 10st on the scales next Monday!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 19/08/2024 10:06

103.25 which is only slightly lower than yesterday and still in my 1kg yoyo.

Gonna have to drink a lot more steam by the looks of things.

Fortunately the only thing in my diet today is paperwork. Lots and lots of paperwork.

I have thought I could shift a couple of lbs if I shave my hair off though...

OP posts:
3wDavid · 19/08/2024 10:23

@Jimmyneutronsforehead not sure where I heard this, but hopefully, you're "one good poo away" from shifting those pesky couple of lbs! 😄

Get that water in; get that fiber in; get that protein in, and maybe ignore the scales for a couple of days. The weather is also getting a bit cooler this week, so hopefully a nice big whoosh is on the horizon!

Re Med Express delays, ordered last Thursday ( switched from Zava) query via email why I was ordering 5mg instead of starter dose, explained already been with Zava and their delivery process left a lot to be desired. All approved but then received an email yesterday stating significant delays and they'll be in touch.

I'm OK for 2 weeks, have the bonus dose to take next Friday or could push it to Monday buy would really like my 3rd pen.

Currently at a stall, nothing lost in 10 days, yoyoing up and down a kilo but can't dip below 76 atm. Annoying as I've upped my walking and keeping cals below 1000.

That’s normal, not really a “stall” (stalls are 6 weeks plus of no change on weight).
Make sure you’re drinking enough water, eating enough protein and tbh, below 1000 cals sounds too low. The lack of change in weight could be hormonal (time of month), related to the warmer weather we’ve had, etc. hopefully you’ll see a difference this week.

Most of my diet is protein and veg, definitely getting enough protein in. No Need to worry about time of the month, I'm 58, had a surgical menopause 18 years ago.

If I eat more than 1000 cals I gain, that's what's got me to this weight. If nothing else I've begun to understand how my body functions, I can't now tolerate pasta, white bread, anything high fat. Have reduced my sugar intake to bare minimum and anything sweet now tastes awful, even yoghurt I'm finding too sweet.

Could be the weather, definitely feel a bit 'puffy'.

Saw a news story from CNN channel this morning about trials on an oral GLP 1 in the form of drops. There has been 3 trials so far and it's looking like it is going well. Just wanted to share that nuggets of info as I think it's amazing how this is happening in our lifetime. I watched my grandmother and my mother struggle all their adult lives with food noise and obesity, the guilt that went with another failed diet, the sneaking of treats when others weren't looking, missing out on things because they felt too fat to join, wearing awful frumpy clothes or having to make their own because shops didn't sell bigger sizes back then. I feel very lucky to be around when something can finally help myself and others.
