The whole OP is a thinly disguised attempt at disparaging weight loss injections. Not worth reading.

Thank you and also @NeedSomeAnswersPlease. I think it's my anxiety that makes me read it, even though I know it's not in my best interests!

ItsAlrightDarling · 02/09/2024 19:46

I actually think the OP isn’t being truthful either. All the ‘I know loads of people who are taking it for vanity reasons and have never been overweight’ and ‘one friend is dangerously thin and has muscle wastage’ just smacks of goady bollocks to me.

SilenceInside · 02/09/2024 19:49

I find I want to post on those threads to correct blatant misinformation and to challenge what seems like untrue descriptions. If I find it's making me cross I sometimes hide the threads!

Hi, I've just stumbled upon this thread. Never been on MN before but found it while searching for support with my Mounjaro journey. Is it ok to join in?

I have missed this thread. Quite frankly grateful about it too.

There's no method of losing weight where there isn't a risk of regain. That fact alone should not put someone off the medical route if it's the best thing for them.

Total weight regain is not guaranteed, and imo to get to this stage you've got to have become really mindful and also knowledgeable about your own body and its needs and that's part of the success of managing your weight and your needs.

There are so many other benefits like the visceral fat reduction around the liver for one. Visceral fat is hard to move alone, but assisting the liver in recovery is a huge benefit.

Only people who are ignorant about the medications would discourage their use either through fear of the unknown, a genuine thrill of fear mongering or a lack of knowledge and unwillingness to learn.

I'm happy to risk regaining some weight once I have passed maintenance because the health benefits I have now make it worthwhile.

Thank you. Is there any etiquette I should know? I've just moved over from fb groups cause everyone seems to fight all the time. I read some of this thread & it seems lovely and supportive.

Snozzlemaid · 02/09/2024 20:02

It's so much better here than the Facebook groups.
Nothing but great support and help if you need it. And lots of celebrating our weight losses with each other.
And none of the batshit crazy stuff that goes on, on FB.

Snozzlemaid · 02/09/2024 20:04

@MamaBearH Would you like to share where you are on your MJ journey?

Welcome! As long as your posts are within mumsnets talk guidelines that's the only etiquette we all follow really.

There are no daft questions either. These threads are full of experienced and new mounjaro users so there's a tonne of experience to draw from. Every one is so lovely too.

If you want to look at the other 19 threads they were hosted by @ObsidianTree and you can find them either by searching continuing mounjaro... part X, or another user WallyWaffles also made a website with a link tree that you can find loads of really useful information on, as well as links to previous threads. You can find the link to that on the first post of this thread.

We celebrate all wins, and we don't let any gains or stalls discourage us, sometimes we just need to ask other people questions to work out our next best steps.

You don't have to post ever, or often if you're the quieter type, but sometimes it's useful to just pop a comment on so you can find the post in the "posts I'm on" section. If you do want to join in the discussion though we're a bubbly bunch.

The only other thing I would ask you to be mindful of is not to post any promotional or discount codes or links as mumsnet will move the threads from the weightloss board to the promo codes board and it won't be as easy for any more newcomers to find.

I will either make the next thread tonight if we break into page 38 or tomorrow if not as we head closer to page 40.

Welcome again!

Welcome @MamaBearH we don't fight. Much. There is a bit of a 'discussion' going on on another thread about whether or not someone should have been prescribed Mounjaro but compared to Facebook it's probably quite tame.

Snozzlemaid · 02/09/2024 20:04

@MamaBearH Would you like to share where you are on your MJ journey?

I've just had my 4th dose of 2.5mg yesterday and I'm 15lbs down. At least 62 more to go but I'm not thinking of that right now. One day at a time.
I've done everything from WW, SW, Atkins, Keto, vlcd shakes etc and my weight has always stalled. I've health issues that seem to make it harder and I can't exercise (yet). So far MJ has helped me to stop thinking of my stomach constantly and allowed me to just live life without tracking every morsel I consume. I'm naturally choosing better options too.

Exactly @Jimmyneutronsforehead I lost the same two stone I am losing now 🙄really slowly over about 18 months for my wedding. Carefully, calorie counting, maybe 1lb a week.

Did I gain it all back? Yep.

Because I didn't change my habits. I drank wine every day, easily a bottle at a time at the weekend. I'd eat pizza one night, have McDonalds the next and then a curry...I'd eat huge amounts and do no exercise. Probably averaged about 3000 steps a day.

This time I am using MJ as a reset because I was so fed up of my weight and quite honestly didn't want it to take 18 months again because without the incentive of a wedding I would struggle with motivation but once I get nearer to goal I shall be carrying on with a calorie deficit most days, minimal alcohol (I REALLY needed to break that habit and this has helped so much) and keep up the same exercise levels. Sure, there will be weight fluctuations but I am going to continue to weigh daily so I keep an eye on it and take action. Where it went wrong last time - on top of everything else - is I didn't weight myself for over a year, easy to live in denial.

Snozzlemaid · 02/09/2024 20:16

That's a brilliant start. Well done.
I felt so much better when I lost my first stone and so excited and happy this was working.
I've got a similar amount still to lose but am steadily losing roughly 2lb a week now so it's all good and going in the right direction.

As long as it keeps coming off it's great.
I've a rotten cold at the moment and it's been playing havoc with me. Thank goodness I'm on MJ though or it would be whatever quick snack or takeaway to feed the family. Instead I've made sure they've all eaten right and avoided anything heavy\bad myself.

MamaBearH · 02/09/2024 20:20

Oh just to check, is there an app or just the main website? I only use a phone so I'm having to open my browser to check for messages in between doing other stuff. Bit of a technophobe here lol.

I haven't fact checked this but someone sent me a link to glp agonists having the unintended side effect of reducing cravings for other addictions.

If this has been recognised I really do hope more research goes into it. I used to have a really bad nightly wine habit and I only realised when I got send that podcast link that I've not had any wine for months. I've thought about it at about 5 o'clock and thought I might have half a glass tonight and then I just forget to have it so it made sense to me when they sent it.

For me though I used to love having a couple of glasses and then someone influencing me to have a takeaway or indulge in something like a slice of cake or bowl of ice cream. It would always be let's stick a film on and have some treats, and that has all stopped so perhaps for me the food noise disappearing means I've not really been as influenced by the post-drink snacks and the drink itself by extension.

Does anybody happen to know how long the sulphur burps and diarrhoea might last after moving up to 7.5mg? I’ve got on well with 2.5mg and 5mg. injected 7.5mg on Friday, felt fine but went out for brunch yesterday at a place we usually like but my usual French toast was soooo greasy could only eat a few mouthfuls and stopped but since then have had terrible sulphur burps and diarrhoea. Supposed to be travelling and speaking at a work conference on Thursday and nervous about sitting on train for hours am and pm and then all the mingling and chatting.

supadupapupascupa · 02/09/2024 20:45

I'm grumpy today. Weight hasn't budged all week. I feel bloated. But I KNOW I stuck to a good calorie deficit.
I had two nights of pasta so I'm hoping it's sluggish digestion and water.
But to say I'm not a bit down about it would be a lie.

Back at the gym this week, going to up the water too.
Every diet I ever tried started with no weight loss initially, and by the time it got going I'd given up the willpower. I think it's triggered me. The doubts are creeping in.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 02/09/2024 20:45

I don't envy you having to travel and work and mingle.

Maybe until after you should stick to plain, basic, non-greasy or spicy foods or heavy foods that are hard to digest? Hppefully as the week goes on and you get over the peak of the dose things will calm down.

I don't know how long they'll last for you or if there's anything you can take to counteract but maybe someone else will.

Perhaps it's time we made hand fans do a come back so we can hide behind them, act aloof and nobody will be any wiser to our sulfur burps.

I'm in basically the same boat as you just four pounds lighter than you. It's saying I've gained 0.7lbs over the last few days. Just trying to not let it bother w
