I wondered if anyone was on 12.5mg who can help me with symptoms I’ve been having since I took it yesterday.
Ive been on MJ since April and am now into a healthy BMI but I want to lose another half a stone before I stop (hopefully at the end of this pen)

I took my first dose of 12.5mg into the thigh as usual but today I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus! Literally my leg muscles feel sore when they even touch the fabric of the duvet, my ribs hurt and I feel washed out beyond words.

I wonder if this is because I am now at a high dose relative to my BMI? Just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced these muscle pains on MJ or if it’s just me - could be covid I guess if it’s not a usual side effect. I’ve not had it prior to this on any dose

Sometimes reactions happens when you go up a dose.

How did you feel on 10mg? Maybe you weren't ready to go up to 12.5 yet?

Did you inject into fat or muscle? Maybe there is less fat now that your BMI is normal and could you possibly have injected into muscle? Hopefully you'll feel better soon. Maybe go back down to 10mg?

Vamozz · 01/09/2024 18:54

Does anyone know where is the cheapest place for a 5mg pen please? I've just ordered one from MedExpress but would like them to price match if there's a better deal somewhere

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 01/09/2024 19:11

@Vamozz the family chemist at £135 maybe?

diian · 01/09/2024 19:17

These were the prices from mid August.

Solidarity to those who have left the FB groups. I joined the Oushk one because she does seem to be very good on supplying more info and support but, OMG, it is like a cult! The lead pharmacist, Hira, must work every hour that God sends and seems to be lovely but the worship is unbounded!

@Tireduk Getting back to the subject of how long the pen will last, the answer is nobody really knows. Lilly tested it to ensure safety, stability, etc with the seal being punctured 4 times over max 30 days so that is the most they recommend and why it is prescribed with those directions. It may well be safe and stable after that point but it has not been tested so there may be some risk, we just don't know.

I find the Oushk group really nauseating, all the special posts especially to thank Hira/Oushk for their AMAZING service 🤢😂 it is really good but the worship is something else!

@Secretslimmer I am on 3.75 at the moment. Down from 10 at the highest. I only had one pen of 10 though. I’m really eeking out a pen.

I am eating more and reintroducing. Last night I had chip shop chips for example. All part of the I can’t eat super healthy forever. I wouldn’t have done that not long ago.

The mindset shift in my head is the biggest part though. Before MJ and getting slimmer and healthier having takeaway chips would have been a fuck it moment. The “I have screwed my diet up yet again so I may as well now have bacon and a fry up Sunday and then etc etc.” The shame I had caved.

Now? I had chips. Shrug. I wanted them. I had them. I will go back to swimming and eating no chips tomorrow. It’s one day out of 365 a year.

That was the hardest mental part and I suspect I’m not alone in that. Now I totally get it’s easier to not think fuck it at 9.9. I’ve done the work to get down to this weight. But I have done it physically and mentally. And the mental/psychological part was always the hardest.

I’ve always felt exhausted and washed out the day after the injection, on every dose but 10mg seemed to be no different than other doses.

Youre right, maybe it’s just the tip over to that dose that is too much for me, I may lower the dose next week by counting clicks as I honestly feel awful!

Ineffable23 · 01/09/2024 19:46

katinthehattt · 01/09/2024 17:44

I hear you! I did this today, drew 0.7 (ish) from my old 2.5mg pen, then added 10 clicks from my new 5mg pen. I have no idea what that adds up to. At one point, it made sense to me, but alas I've lost the maths again Confused

I think that that's 3.75 - 2.5mg, plus 0.41mg from the extra 0.1ml, plus 0.83mg from the 10 clicks. So bang on half way! Nicely estimated.

SnacklessWonder · 01/09/2024 19:49

I don't know who mentioned gravy and Yorkshire pudding the other day but just demolished a low cal M&S sausage and mash ready meal, with two Auntie Bessie's and some Bisto onion gravy, was great!

Thanks v much- yeah I quite agree, I think that shift is quite fundamental.

While on the jabs I’ve had quite a few meals out and holidays but it feels very different when you just enjoy it and get back to something a bit healthier the next day

FlappyFish · 01/09/2024 20:16

@Secretslimmer Absolutely. I’ve not used food as fuel for many years. There was always another element to it. A treat. A healthy choice. A celebration. Granting myself permission to have a pudding because it’s a birthday. It was never just food. I had to have justification to eat.

If I want something now I will have it. 75% of the time I eat really basically. The other 25% of the time I will have the steak. 😂 or the sweets. That 25% invariably coincides with the 5 days before my period is due and a couple of days into it.

All the tracking weight and appetite as part of this has really reinforced for me how much my cravings were and still are hormonally driven. It was always the time I used to go overboard with pizza and cheese and chocolate and feel like I’d undone the other 3 weeks work. To some extent it still is. But now I know what it is and I’m mindful about it.

Doing exercise and making healthier choices is also a lot easier when thinner. It just is. I’ve spent a small fortune on MJ and new clothes. I reached the goal and now I’m damned if I’m going to let small unhealthy habits creep in and let my weight creep up in turn. I will continue weight daily. I did before. I will continue to now. It’s just before I maintained at 14 and now I have a line in my head that says if I reach 10 again I cut down.

This will be a lifelong challenge. It has been a lifelong challenge until now anyway, so nothing changes in that respect.

SnacklessWonder · 01/09/2024 20:23

Thanks @IReallyNeedThisToWork for all that advice. I've ordered the syringes and they should be here by Thursday ready for next dose on Sunday. So hopefully I can work out the top-up from the 5mg pen. I'll probably no doubt be calling for back up 😂

I am struggling with a bit of anxiety every now and again but my mood is SHOCKING at times. I am really intolerant and irritable.

I’m exactly the same. I feel like a lit fuse and my rage goes from 0 to 60. I’ve never been like this in my life!

Started a thread a while ago about mood changes on Mounjaro but it didn’t get much traction, so I thought it must just be me..

Definitely not just you! I was like this earlier this year and I started HRT which I think calmed it but it's raging again now and it's only started being like that since I started MJ.

You have my sympathy, it’s a horrible side effect. I feel like I can’t even really enjoy the weight loss as I’m so busy being angry all the time 😅

I’m approaching the end of the journey (BMI 25.2) now and as much as I’m nervous to come off without any sort of maintenance dose, I think I’ll have to as I can’t live with this mood issue indefinitely.

katinthehattt · 01/09/2024 22:54

@Ineffable23 phew! I did work it out at one point, but then it escaped me again 😅

Anyone had any progress with MedExpress orders? I’ve been stuck on medicine dispensed since Thursday. I’ve just messaged them but got a warning about delays to responding to messages 🙄

Not a sausage, I’m still stuck waiting for my order to be prescribed. It’s SO annoying. At least I have my bonus dose left but I’m not impressed with them. I really hope you get yours soon @BellaCriesAndThatsAlright . Unless you have a Royal Mail email with a tracking number they shouldn’t have boxed it up yet 🤞

Pinkbendyman · 02/09/2024 07:39

Eyf · 01/09/2024 16:55

I’d love a round bum! Sometimes it takes the scales a few days to catch up I think!

I also emailed ZAVA to enquire about the maintenance stance and what BMI they would prescribe to and they never got back to me.

Does anyone know what BMI they prescribe to?

As a regular customer, I emailed Zava over 2 weeks ago enquiring about their maintenance plans - they’ve failed to reply.

Their current stance is they will continue to prescribe until you reach a healthy BMI.

Weigh day today.

SW: 240.8lbs
CW: 201.2lbs

39.6lbs total loss... I'm so close to being under 200lbs for the first time in years. Hopefully, I should be there this time next week.

I've had a horrendous stomach bug all weekend that's definitely contributed to the 5lbs loss this week.

Additionally, been v-lucky up until now that I've never experienced sulphur burps, not anymore. I remember reading other people post about them and wondering if I'd be able to tell if I had them... they're really hard to miss. 😅🤢

Hope everyone has a good week!

InspectorGidget · 02/09/2024 08:36

We got back from holiday on Friday and a cheeky weigh on Saturday to confirm the damage and I'd lost 1/2 lb! This morning is official weigh day and I'm another 1b down so I am over the moon.

Usually I go on holiday and put on 1/2 stone - i enjoyed the food, the wine and the odd ice cream but was totally in control.
When I didn't fancy pizza or pasta I had some amazing salads!

I'm 18 weeks into this journey and my total loss is 24.5lbs. I'm still on 5mg and will stay at this I think while I am seeing losses and now need to get back to doing exercise now I'm lighter.

I did a quick update while away about how I would not have been able to do the Pisa / Florence towers, or indeed the general hills in Italy if I hadn't lost the weight I did before I went away and this momentum should see me to feeling amazing at Christmas!

I'm not losing fast and in the early days I was disappointed when seeing some other results but as I've a lot to lose, theres no point in stepping up doses until I need to!

SW - 236.8lb
CW - 212lb
Loss - 24.5lb
GW - Healthy BMI!

SnacklessWonder · 02/09/2024 08:58

My weigh-in today. 2.4lb off so that's 10lb in 3 weeks.

InspectorGidget · 02/09/2024 08:59

Well done @Paperwhite13 - seems like we started at similar weights too!

I'm hoping to do the same between now and Christmas and I'll be nearly 4st lighter!
