I’ve noticed that early mornings are often the best part of the day weather wise. Bright sunshine, clear blue skies and light winds. It’s often warmer than later on in the day when the clouds come and the winds pick up. I try to have a “summer hour” every morning when I go for a walk or have coffee in the garden.
Evenings are often sunnier and calmer too. 10 am to 6pm seems to be the worst part of the day.

You're not wrong I'm in again now. Brought in the cushions etc. went cloudy and cold.

Yes I have been trying to make the most of the sunny mornings - sat outside with a coffee.

Apparently we are pulling cold air down from Iceland. That is why it’s so cold. Great!

Windy but sunny, I'm back in my cat loving spot for now rain forecast later

What a lovely spot and lovely view!

MotherOfCatBoy · 08/06/2024 21:06

I did enjoy a glass of wine in a deckchair in the sunshine this evening. Only an hour but it was bliss.
Hope tomorrow will be sunny.

socks1107 · 10/06/2024 08:15

London is wet this morning, and chilly. My daughter and I commute in together and she's in a winter jumper

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/06/2024 08:17

Yep, back to the usual in SW London. Cloud and a brisk breeze, occasional peeks of sun.

icelolly12 · 10/06/2024 08:45

It feels like the coldest, windiest, greyest June I can remember!

justasking111 · 10/06/2024 09:59

Sunny this morning but raining later. Tomorrow sees better weather then it all goes tits up for the week.

EmeraldRoulette · 10/06/2024 14:57

Hello all

couple of other threads have mentioned the gaslighting

it’s 10th June and I just realised there’s been no need for summer duvet. This flat is very warm. Not as overheated as my previous one. But I think I switched to summer duvet in May last year.

EmeraldRoulette · 10/06/2024 20:05

Does anyone else get hyper at this time of year, around the longest day?
I also get bad SAD and really struggle around the shortest day.

What I'm finding is this is a very bad combo now -I'm hyper from late light but not wanting to have my evening walk in this weather, which makes my insomnia worse.

I would usually be at least six weeks into spring/summer walks by now. I cannot believe the outside temp on 10th June.

MotherOfCatBoy · 10/06/2024 20:41

Not hyper exactly but I am waking earlier because of the light, and that makes me feel simultaneously that I should be up and eager to do things, and a bit knackered because I haven’t had a full night’s sleep. It feels a bit like being tired but wired when you’ve had too much coffee.

I switched to ours a few weeks back, woke up cold a few nights and switched it back! I've usually switched it early May

EmeraldRoulette · 10/06/2024 20:50

@MotherOfCatBoy "It feels a bit like being tired but wired when you’ve had too much coffee."

exactly that. Sleeping even worse than usual. I have blackout curtains but I'm very light sensitive. I miss a nice evening summer walk!

@socks1107 yes, I can imagine. I nearly switched on the one warm day we had in May, glad I didn't!

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2024 07:14

Month ahead forecast from Netweather. It says getting warmer/drier later in the month but we'll see.......

But as for the rest of this week, showers at times, wet and windy later in the week.

Well it's wet again here and they said today was going to be the only good day 🤬

EmeraldRoulette · 11/06/2024 10:02

@justasking111 Same here. We had a sunny day forecast, but I have learned not to believe it now.

Late last night, there was a very heavy rain which wasn't forecast, very heavy inded. And now the forecast has changed so it's grey clouds and showers on and off today.

This popped up on my FB memories so thought I'd share

DH was amazed that the heating was on this morning when he got up ~ we never have the heating on this late in the year! Other than that, it's been dark, chilly and the lights in the lounge have been on most of the day. It's been more like an autumn day than a summer one.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 11/06/2024 16:36

When I got to work today it was 8C and pouring with rain. Not like June at all.

EmeraldRoulette · 11/06/2024 19:32

I think forecasters should start saying where is best in the uk

i don’t watch tv weather but mum does

I’ve noticed a few posts saying they have nice weather but it looks like everywhere will have rain later this week

It’s so flipping cold. Today I’m as tired as a winter day but maybe I’ll get some sleep tonight. Was wired till about 3am last night- or today I should say!

Stowickthevast · 12/06/2024 07:16

I'm so over it. June is normally the best month. We're 10 days away from summer solstice and the heating came on this morning.

I've got loads of parties this year, significant birth year, and they all look like being washouts. Am keeping everything crossed that it picks up by mine which is at the end of June.

AtomicBlondeRose · 12/06/2024 12:54

I saw from a few days ago people saying the weather makes them tired but wired - I’m the same. Usually at this point in the year I have a lighter workload so I can go out for longish walks at lunchtime. I can get to a park and like walking through the dappled sunlight, seeing the sea glint in the distance etc. except it’s so fucking cold I don’t want to go outside, so I’m all antsy, freezing in three layers indoors and frankly getting a bit down about it all. I just like a walk and a little bit of sun on my face. That’s all. It’s not much.

EmeraldRoulette · 12/06/2024 14:23

@AtomicBlondeRose yes I didn’t sleep much last night again

it isn’t 17 outside. My very warm flat might need the heating put on

I just wish they’d stop giving us wrong info. How on earth are they collating it?!
