No sign in Essex

got that annoying heavy atmosphere- been like it all day - but looks like no storm
so will be very heavy air till Saturday I guess.

Pixiedust1234 · 01/08/2024 19:28

@nannynick that picture definitely looks a little soggy!

Woke up to wet pavement and grey skies but it's turned into another scorcher. You can send your rain for another overnighter but you can have them back midmorning 😉

GloriaSmud · 01/08/2024 19:46

Hearing distant rumbles now.

You lot shut up with your storms! Still bright sunshine and sticky hot here in the East Midlands. Would love a good storm, not has one so far this year. Sigh.

EmeraldRoulette · 01/08/2024 20:33

I really wanted a storm.

We need it badly.

But looking at the map there is absolutely no chance. The weird headache is really taking over 😔

GloriaSmud · 01/08/2024 20:33

Almost continuous rumbling going on now. For all the dark skies, not had much in the way of rain though.

We’ve had scorching weather for a few days now. I love it!!… I’m fortunate to live just 10 mins from Lake Windermere, but we’ve been in rivers everyday this week with the kids. I don’t want it to end

Delatron · 01/08/2024 22:26

We had a very brief bit of thunder and rain here in S.Bucks but passed though very quickly and it’s still warm.

Felt a bit more bearable today. I’m either getting used to it or it was a degree or 2 cooler. In this country I’m ok up to about 28 degrees. 30 plus is when it’s uncomfortable. I generally love it though. The dog will be happier when it cools down a bit next week though.

As long as we don’t drop below 20/21 I’ll be happy. Prefer mid 20s in general.

nannynick · 02/08/2024 05:42

Fog/mist this morning. 95% humidity, 17.6 degrees C.

GloriaSmud · 02/08/2024 07:32

Quite a warm 18C here with 98% humidity already.
I was looking at the data from my weather station for yesterday and noticed that just as the storm moved in, the temperature went down 5C in the space of 30 minutes.

Another hot day for some ~ slightly cooler, more 'normal' summer temperatures to come over the next few days.

Lovely sunny morning here. For a change, the north looks like the place to be weather wise 😀

Delatron · 02/08/2024 08:47

Yes cloudy in the south - for once I don’t mind as I don’t need to rush to get the dog out so early!

EmeraldRoulette · 02/08/2024 12:18

I’m in that territory where the forecast is completely wrong. It is so humid here you could cut it with a knife. It’s really disgusting but the forecasts are saying it’s around 60%. There is no rain forecast but I’m hoping it will turn up.

It is lovely breeze, warm and sunny. But we've got unsettled weather later

EmeraldRoulette · 02/08/2024 22:21

Just been chatting to neighbours

I think all modern flats trap heat pretty badly?

one said its forecast to be 30 tomorrow. I hope she’s wrong. Sadly it looks like this flat will be the same as my old one - once the heat is in, it won’t leave. Still incredibly humid out though in spite of all forecast saying it’s not?

Yes it seems like probably Sunday and Monday.

socks1107 · 07/08/2024 17:21

No thanks! Last week was lovely but I was off work and I don't want any more 30+ heat.
But for those that have been desperate for it it's great news and will certainly lift a lot of people's moods

nannynick · 07/08/2024 17:49

My thoughts too @socks1107 as it gets so hot in my flat. 30+ degrees will not be fun.

justasking111 · 07/08/2024 23:56

I shall be asking if the grandkids paddling pool is out. You'll find me in it on Sunday 😂

GloriaSmud · 08/08/2024 11:30

justasking111 ~ 😆
I'm going on a narrowboat for a few days from Sunday and I'm beginning to think being in the water might be preferable to travelling on it!

Monday could be the hottest day of the year so far.

Wet today but hot weather likely to return

So random that it’s just one day - and a Monday.

I’m cross as we are going away Tuesday to the coast for 4 days and obviously the weather immediately changes..

I like warmth but not one searingly hot day or two then back to 19/and cloud/rain/wind. Why can’t we get a few weeks of say 25 degrees?!

So it won’t cheer me up, it will only annoy me due to the huge temperature swings.

In my part of Wales we're promised tomorrow so son and grandsons are getting up early and taking grandads prawn net over to Anglesey to fish in rock pools. I hope they're lucky
