Glorious here in the NE (England) today, I had a random flexi day booked off, so have had a lovely day in the garden and lunch with teen DS.

GloriaSmud · 31/07/2024 07:17

Another hot day for some areas of the country but there's the risk of thunderstorms later on in the south (weather warning issued by the metoffice.)

Yesterday was definitely hot and I felt ill with the heat. Today there is a nice gentle breeze and I'm loving it Smile

I was showing the grandchildren the thunderstorms in France today. They were very impressed.

MotherOfCatBoy · 31/07/2024 21:49

Hot hot hot! I love the heat tbh. Even when I get very sweaty, flake out doing the gardening and can’t sleep as well. I STILL love it.

justasking111 · 31/07/2024 22:26

Nope I'm too 🥵 tonight

InMySpareTime · 01/08/2024 05:43

I'm ok with heat, but DH got back from a camping trip (and brought a streaming cold back with him).
What was a nice warm bedroom while he was away, became difficult to sleep in with the addition of extra body heat and snoring.
I got up at 5 and opened all the windows, now enjoying a cool morning breeze and listening to the morning rain. That should get the temperature down a bit, and saves me watering the garden today.

beenrumbled · 01/08/2024 06:41

Heavy rain here for about 5 minutes now grey and humid.

I have covid at the moment and the heat is not helping me at all. Holding out for normal temperatures at the weekend

GloriaSmud · 01/08/2024 07:52

beenrumbled ~ poor you, hope some cooler temperatures will help.

Yes, there are more 'normal, uk-summer' type temperatures coming this weekend. Next week looks ok as well, with half the country having the more 'normal' temperatures but the south, SE and midlands having a range of temperatures, 22-28C at times.

I was hoping for a thunderstorm here but some showery-type rain started about an hour ago, so that'll have to do. It's nice for the plants to get a watering at least.

3.5mm of rain overnight here. I'm pleased about that.

Brilliant sunshine here (London) and stifling (currently 28). Looking forward to cooler but still very warm temps next week. I don't think people can say we haven't had a summer - been lovely and temps mid 20s and dry bar one day (and only 45% chance even then) for the next ten. My garden is suffering despite watering.

nannynick · 01/08/2024 16:16

29 degrees outside, 27 degrees inside. I am wishing for the thunderstorms to come my way.

EmeraldRoulette · 01/08/2024 17:01

Storms look completely stuck over Oxford. I looked an hour ago and just looking again now. No chance of a storm here even if they are going to move east, they will have died out by the time they get here.

justasking111 · 01/08/2024 17:16

Paris is copping it again. Poor Olympics

gingercat02 · 01/08/2024 17:16

Was damp and drizzling this morning but back to sunshine and pleasant temperatures now.

hoteltango · 01/08/2024 17:21

Central Hampshire - frequent lightning, heavy rain, strong winds. A real proper storm. Glad I'm not out in it.

nannynick · 01/08/2024 17:40

The rain has arrived. 25.9 degrees outdoors, should drop now that the rain is here.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 01/08/2024 18:16

I was working in a garden near Chipping Norton earlier and saw the storm making its way up the valley, accompanied by increasingly loud rumblings. Packed up just before the heavens opened.

The humidity is going to be uncomfortable tonight, isn't it.

They really have been unlucky with the rain.

GloriaSmud · 01/08/2024 19:17

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast* ~ yes, I'd say it probably will be.

We've had nothing here yet (Leicester) but looking at the radar, the storms aren't far away and the sky is quite dark looking to the south/SW.
