As we're a few weeks away from the start of meteorological autumn (1st September), some early thoughts here.

Although, looking at what we've had over the 'summer' and the prospects for autumn, we might not notice much difference!

Is it not Autumn now??? Feels like it.

However, we didn't start last years storm names until August.

I think I’m ready for autumn now. If we could then just skip winter and go straight to spring that would be grand.

23 degrees indoors at 9pm at night... but it is dropping.
Looking forward to the cooler days and nights. Not looking forward to it being wet.

There's a definite coolness to the air since yesterday - still very muggy but much cooler than it had been. And I've noticed the darker evenings really kick in this week.

Somewhere in Scotland has its first frost overnight last night. I wasn't very awake when the radio told me this, but I think it was Dalwhinnie.

The season of mellow fruits, spiders, mists and maybe some windy storms. Though no signs of those yet.

I think you will find all the spiders have migrated to my house... I'm willing to post some to you for free

Cumbria here. We've had some early morning mists. There's a nip in the air this morning. Windows have condensation on them this morning for the first time in months. And the spiders are taking over!

One of the times I wish MN had a like button! This did make me smile on a rubbish Wednesday morning...........4 degrees here this morning (East Lancs) when it was 21 a week ago, somewhere in between would be nice but at least it's dry and sunny!!!!

ah, that made me smile. I will miss mists, I was in a high rise before and got some amazing views but no longer! Though I might find some walking spots for those, I guess.

Ok, back to the summer thread for the southerners. A brief blast of heat, perhaps approaching 30c this weekend. Thunderstorms once again a risk.

26-27c seems more likely, but UKV reached 28c in the south east. Which is approaching 30.
