Sorry, been a bit predisposed today and I'm unlikely to be able to keep the thread as updated as I'd like over the next few days.

Amber thunderstorm warnings for northern Ireland, flash flooding likely. And three days of thunderstorm warnings in a row.

Thanks just been out and shut the car windows 👌

BiddyPop · 19/10/2022 08:02

Carlow weatherman had a very cool video on his site (it was possibly instagram - DH showed me on his phone) of the lightening in Clonakilty last night - which was very intense.

Very heavy rain in Dublin this morning, with flooding on roads, but haven't heard any thunder myself.

BiddyPop · 19/10/2022 13:09

I stand corrected, thunder booming around Dublin now....the rainfall radar is a sea of lightening strike crosses...

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/10/2022 22:04

A good few flashes and rumbles of thunder about 6.30pm in South Wales. It didn’t come to anything though and no rain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2022 22:24

Sorry, I got a bit distracted! While the low to the west keeps causing hassle, there will be out breaks of storms, some tonight, tomorrow and friday.

Crazy thunder an lightning in north wales tonight. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life!
constant lightning every few seconds for well over an hour!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/10/2022 23:13

I'm rather jealous!

It’s been very epic!! Still going.
i need to go to bed, but can’t stop watching ⚡️

PeloFondo · 20/10/2022 08:13

I woke up to thunder last night, must have been 3-4am ish. So loud, it was crazy! Lancashire

EdithWeston · 20/10/2022 09:55

There was both thunder and lightning this morning from around 0800 onwards.

Still steady rain, and just had a Met Office pop up saying yellow warning in place until 13:00

East Midlands

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2022 10:11

Here is that warning for those who haven't seen it. www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2022-10-20
and here's a map of where lightning strikes are at present. I nearly said currently. Grin

I'm not too far from you Edith and our thunderstorm was loud and long this morning.

I actually drove through your namesake on Tuesday. A very marked contrast to today's weather.

GloriaSmud · 20/10/2022 20:10

Signing in from the SW coast, between Sidmouth and Exmouth where we're on holiday in a static caravan at the moment. Think we're in for a stormy night and probably by the end of it, I'll be wishing I was back in Leicester!

Jellykat · 20/10/2022 20:27

We had the worse thunder and flash lightening storm i've ever experienced last night (West Wales).. I was really spooked!
It was a good 30 minutes of repetitive natural strobe lighting and huge booms, it was freaky!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2022 21:15

It sounds amazing Jellykat

We continue to have a complex area of low pressure throwing fronts our way, more storms are possible into tomorrow.

OP posts:
MissCrowley · 20/10/2022 21:22

@Jellykat we had it for 5 hours.. yep 5 hours!!! Northern Wales. I was told by our neighbour that it's a very rare weather pattern, she'd only ever seen it once before.
It was absolutely fucking bonkers and I ended up with a migraine 🤦🏻‍♀️

justasking111 · 20/10/2022 21:38

I'm n Wales it was astonishing,.

I couldnt have handled 5 hours of that intensity, Id've been a gibbering wreck!!..
We did have thunder 'booms' for 24 hours before it kicked off, which was also weird.

I'm in Lancashire and the thunder woke me up - and I sleep like a log! Weirdly my dad said he woke up too but wasn't sure why, I did point out it was probably the booming thunder Grin
Was lying in bed thinking it's the loudest I had ever heard

Are you still there? You must be getting quite a show tonight.

ChocAuVin · 23/10/2022 03:34

Huge electrical storm here in Devon tonight… Woken up by an almighty crack of thunder and a downpour. Lightning is so bright!

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/10/2022 03:36

I think it was the lightning that woke me up not the thunder.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/10/2022 04:29

Woke my dogs up, then the rain came.

GloriaSmud · 23/10/2022 06:41

@RafaistheKingofClay No we're not - we came back yesterday - it looks like I've missed quite a show!
There's a weather warning issued by the metoffice for today into early tomorrow morning, so might get to see something of a stormy nature!
And the netweather radar shows heavy rain moving up from the south.

EerilyDevilled · 23/10/2022 07:26

Flashes and rumbles in the distance for the last hour in Hampshire
