Sorry, been a bit predisposed today and I'm unlikely to be able to keep the thread as updated as I'd like over the next few days.

Amber thunderstorm warnings for northern Ireland, flash flooding likely. And three days of thunderstorm warnings in a row.

We have had some massive thunderstorms during the night and torrential rain. It is still rumbling away now. I am on the Fife coast in the east of Scotland.

Me too!

Can't say I'm looking forward to the drive to work

RoseDog · 15/08/2022 06:33

We are being battered with it here in Dundee, been on and off all night, wonder how long the dog can hold her pee in 😂

aliceinshackles · 15/08/2022 06:53

Windy app radar showed storms on the coast but nout up north.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/08/2022 09:40

A word of warning about apps - they can never be used to predict when and where a storm will pop up in a particular area. They are pretty good when weather is predictable - for example when a cold front brings widespread rain. But thunderstorms are too unpredictable still. We know when there is a high likelihood of them, but not the precise locations of when and where they will pop up.

I hope the weather forecast of thunderstorms here midweek stay - last time the rain face gave us a swerve.
Fed up with carting eleventy billion watering cans around every evening!

Loud thunder and lots of lightning last night. Heavy rain this morning. Central Fife

I'll pay you all a tenner if we have a thunderstorm in Manchester! We're still waiting for the one that was promised after the last heatwave. Hmm

Same here in the south coast near Portsmouth!

And I don't think we'll be having one this time either!

Not a drop of rain in Dublin. The radar showed a lot of rain heading our way but it never turned up.

What part of Dublin are you in American? I'm on the coast on southside and our rainbutt went from empty to having about a foot in it overnight, and DDog had a pretty damp walk this morning with DH. Although it's dry now again for the past 2 hours and sun is just peeking it's way out of the clouds in the past 10 minutes.

There seemed to be a lot of lightening going on in Galway/Mayo yesterday afternoon, and just off the coast in Clare (south of Aran Islands) and also in Kerry later yesterday evening. But I didn't hear or see anything here, it just got significantly cooler about 6pm (from 26 or so down to 20 or so - kitchen stayed at 25 so there was a noticable refreshment by walking outside!).

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/08/2022 12:55

I'm SouthEast inland BiddyPop and we did have rain overnight, which is good, although not the huge amount that I was expecting. Hopefully there will be a bit more.

APurpleSquirrel · 15/08/2022 13:01

I'm on the Devon/Somerset border; we had a bit of rain earlier this morning for an hour or so; not heavy but more rain than drizzle. Due to have thunderstorms this afternoon around 4pm. Can see Cornwall has some atm so hoping they are heading this way.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 15/08/2022 14:15

SE here and what small prediction of rain and storms we had for today and tomorrow has now gone so looking like theres no reprieve until wed when the next lot is predicted

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/08/2022 14:44

My app tells me it has been raining over my house today.

Reader, it has not! Wink

It's supposed to be raining where I am too!

BarrelOfOtters2 · 15/08/2022 15:25

North west, woken up by massive loud thunder and lightning at 4 am. Houses damaged in surrounding area by lightning, internet and electricity affected. And it filled the 160 litre rain butt.

ListenLinda · 15/08/2022 15:38

A little bit of drizzle in West Yorkshire. Thunderstorms have gone from the app and the proper rain seems to be passing us by 😩

ChickenBeginner · 15/08/2022 16:09

North Devon, just had a massive thunder and lightning storm, heavy rain and loads of hail. Really big hailstones, marble sized. Sky was incredibly dark and moody. I had several buckets, washing up bowls etc out to catch potential rain. Just measured and they are all 5 cm deep!

Been outside in bare feet, air still hot, but plunging feet into piles of big hail was a sensory experience I’ve never had before. A mix of lovely and painful. Refreshing at least.

APurpleSquirrel · 15/08/2022 16:11

Ohhh it's getting darker & the wind is picking up a bit!

Tr1skel1on · 15/08/2022 16:17

@BarrelOfOtters2 I think we might live in the same place it was a cracking storm!

APurpleSquirrel · 15/08/2022 16:38

Can hear the thunder but no rain yet - hope it doesn't bypass us as the waterbutts are empty!

APurpleSquirrel · 15/08/2022 16:43

Rain has started, thunder rumbling & lightning too.

CaveMum · 15/08/2022 16:44

We had about a hour of rain here on the Suffolk/Cambs border at about 3pm, mostly steady drizzle but a few really heavy bursts too - I had to go around shutting the upstairs windows and wiping down windowsills where the rain had blown in!

No thunder/lightning though.

colouringindoors · 15/08/2022 16:55

The minimal showers forecast here over the next few days keep evaporating. I'm really not holding my breath.

Any waterbut system recommendations?!
