Sorry, been a bit predisposed today and I'm unlikely to be able to keep the thread as updated as I'd like over the next few days.

Amber thunderstorm warnings for northern Ireland, flash flooding likely. And three days of thunderstorm warnings in a row.

Looks like a pretty lively day for many in the south today!

Current (groan!) lightning strikes.

Was woken up about 3.30am with bright lightening & very loud thunder. Lasted about half an hour, gradually passing away - Somerset/Devon border.

Todays storms could see hail, flash flooding and strong squally winds.

My weather forecast can’t make up it’s mind on my phone. One saying we are outside the area and will just get heavy rain and the other that we are due to get thundery showers at 3pm, in West Yorks.

Please don't rely on apps for forecasting storms - they cannot pick up small scale fast developing features.

The sound of the rain on the windows is quite therapeutic!

There is some pretty severe weather heading over the channel - very active incoming storms.

I think people may be in for a bit of a shock - not literally!
Could be some damage from this system.

We had one big rumble of thunder and that was it.

Just checked lightningmaps.org. Looks like the south east is about to get it. Very long line of lightning coming.

We have thunder rumbling away and now getting louder accompanied by lightening, as well as rain, we have just had a hail storm too ! Am in Dorset.

East Hampshire another storm has blown in from the SE. Huge crashes.

Driving into the New Forest just now- almost turned to night as we came through Lyndhurst! Lots of flashes but thankfully not too close. Saw a few cyclists stuck out in the torrential rain, unlucky for them…

SW London squally wind and a few lightning flashes and some thunder. It's so dark I reckon the Ringwraiths are flying over. Rather strange weather today.

Fabulous storm in the Chilterns which as they normally skirt round us was a treat. Front and back gardens completely flooded and it seems to be dying down now. Lost the Tottenham game for a while but back now 😀

They were quite fast moving very dark clouds which is what made me think of that. 😀

At 4:49 it was 16.1 degrees C, then the rain band came through and temperature quickly dropped to 12.7 degrees C. We have had 18.29mm of rain so far today, where as it has been 7mm or less the last few days. Surrey/Berkshire border.

River levels are going up but the data lags quite a bit, so will be interesting to see what is shown tomorrow once data is in for this afternoon/evening.

Spectacular thunder and forked lightening here in Northampton.

rosegoldwatcher - I've been watching the storm move northwards and noticed that Northampton got a good show. I've just seen a flash of lightning here (Leicester) so think it's just about to reach us and it's just started raining.

Huge storm here. My poor cat got caught out in it. Loads of rain, thunder and lightning but it past very quickly.
