Sorry, been a bit predisposed today and I'm unlikely to be able to keep the thread as updated as I'd like over the next few days.

Amber thunderstorm warnings for northern Ireland, flash flooding likely. And three days of thunderstorm warnings in a row.

Nothing is West Essex , it's disappeared of my weather app too .
😡

colouringindoors · 15/08/2022 17:41

Few showers tonight have now disappeared 😪
60% chance of a shower and thunder tomorrow eve. We shall see...

SizzlestheSausageDog · 15/08/2022 18:18

I'm in Hampshire and the 70% likelihood of thunderstorms on my weather app this morning has evaporated 😭. Maybe there will be rain tomorrow?

BiddyPop · 15/08/2022 18:28

Through the power of WFH and lots of meetings, I can report that in Dublin, we've had rain move from Glasnevin (pouring down at about 4:30pm) through the city centre (started around O'Connell St roughly 5:10pm) and has now started in Dun Laoghaire (roughly 6:15pm). So it's definitely the opposite to normal moving southwards.

SizzlestheSausageDog · 15/08/2022 18:35

I take it back, it has just started raining and the AccuWeather minutecast has gone from no rain to 45 whole minutes of rain! Wahey!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/08/2022 18:39

Ignore the weather apps. Honestly! They cannot predict thunderstorms in any sort of useful way.

Looks like parts of the SW have had some really torrential rainfall.

So far we have lovely constant drizzle, hopefully it will soften up the ground a bit so it absorbs water more effectively.

knickersniff · 15/08/2022 19:06

Just had about 12 minutes of rain . 🙌🙌

The minimal showers forecast here over the next few days keep evaporating. I'm really not holding my breath.

Any waterbut system recommendations?!

We have a water butt connected to our garage & one to the back roof of the house - slim line ones from Aldi. Going to get another to put on the front of the house down pipe.

gnilliwdog · 15/08/2022 19:14

Still no rain. Very weird because it's supposed to be one of the wettest parts of England, normally. Constantly pouring buckets of wastewater on 3 trees outside my house. They are like my friends - home to lots of birds, first thing I see from my bedroom window in the morning, keep hoping it will rain for them soon.

itsgettingweird · 15/08/2022 19:40

No storm here and doesn't look like any coming our way.

But it's incredibly humid.

Hampshire - south coast

PriamFarrl · 15/08/2022 23:30

We had the tiniest amount of rain here in Suffolk. I was sat outside at the time. I could hear it on the trees and felt about two drops.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2022 07:44

Channel imports Grin let's see how far they move inland.

Yay for imported storms - no documents or passport required!

We've had some rain overnight here (Leicester) - just enough to make the ground damp.

GloriaSmud · 16/08/2022 08:13

Netweather's thoughts on today's storms.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2022 08:17

Looks like a very real flooding risk in the SE today.

SquirmOfEels · 16/08/2022 08:27

We keep having rain in the forecast here, and it’s within the thunderstorm warning (isn’t everywhere?) but each time it’s not materialised.

I’m feeling rather hot and sticky right now, and hoping for rain - not in amounts that cause flash flooding, but as everywhere’s so hard and dry right now I suppose that’s going to be inevitable if there are areas where storms hit hard

CantStandMeow · 16/08/2022 08:32

We (Hampshire) have rain! Barely more than a drizzle but I'm standing by the back door enjoying the smell. No storm as yet though

ClaraLane · 16/08/2022 08:36

I’m just outside Norwich and we’ve got overcast skies and rain should be arriving from 2pm onwards apparently. Really hope it does, we’ve had so many field fires here recently.

TenoringBehind · 16/08/2022 10:29

@GloriaSmud We’re about 10 miles from Leicester and had about 3 spots of rain yesterday afternoon and nothing since. I find it absolutely fascinating how things can be so different in such a small area.

GloriaSmud · 16/08/2022 10:42

@TenoringBehind Weather can be proper strange at times! I'm hoping we get some decent rain later but looking at the Netweather radar, there's some drizzly stuff coming towards Leicester at the moment.

APurpleSquirrel · 16/08/2022 10:49

In my bit of Somerset we've had steady rain all morning. Certainly a lot cooler & fresher & last night was much better. Plants are all looking a lot happier too.

Menomadness · 16/08/2022 13:35

We have just travelled to Norfolk coast for our holiday. Humid all the way. Just got inside the caravan and we have a very loud storm and lots of rain! Can't even unpack the car it is that bad

Coastal Hampshire we had a few huge downpours! It's cleared the humidity - phew!

Notonthestairs · 16/08/2022 13:57

Smattering of rain in my part of Hertfordshire but not enough to bother bringing inside my washing.

I could see on Netweather that there was heavy rain either side of my town - it just avoided us!
