Just placemarking. We're in between gusts at the moment

Lopril · 18/02/2022 16:05

Thanks OYBBK

WingBingo · 18/02/2022 16:05

We’ve taken a battering near Haldon Hill in Devon.

Roof tiles, power out for most of the day and lots of damage to plants and trees.

Hopefully the worst is over now but there are still gusty spells.

Well done Kitten!

What a day, still very windy in North Bucks but does feel a tiny bit less intense - she says as something else crashes and bounces past Confused

GloriaSmud · 18/02/2022 16:09

Calmed right down here (Leicester.) My mini greenhouse has totally disintegrated. Garden will need a bit of a clear up tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 16:11

The last of the 70mph+ gusts should depart East Anglia and northern hills by 6pm
Gusting currently still to 50-60mph in central areas and across the SE, 60-70mph across some spots in northern England but this will die down.

Although it will be less windy as we go into the late afternoon/ early evening for many of us, these strong gusts will continue to bring down trees and weakened structures, so take good care. Remember the amber warning doesn't finish until 9pm.

Take care tomorrow too and across the weekend as further strong winds gusting 50-60mph will continue to plop down weakened trees.

Am on a train heading north from LKX. Left at 11.30. Just passing Retford now, after sheds, builders materials, & Knebworth Station roof blocking the track so far. Hoping to get to Berwick (from whence i have an hours drive across the Scottish Borders, snow showers permitting. Some poor buggers are aiming for Aberdeen. Not fun.

I would love a good cup of tea! I am shattered and seem to be developing RSI from too much typing and mouse clicking. Grin but we are nearly through it now.

Gone fairly calm where we are in Cornwall for a minute. Didn’t realise we’ve got strong winds all the way into Monday though!

We were supposed to be on the 14.00 from kings cross to Berwick but left yesterday instead. Weather in the borders is better than down south, flutters of snow but not much lying. Hope you get home okay!
BestIsWest · 18/02/2022 16:16

I think the worst is over for us now though we had some mad hail and snow.

Crossing Welwyn Viaduct must have been quite hairy.
purplesequins · 18/02/2022 16:22

neighbours chimney (steel pipe thingy) snapped of the roof and another neighbours cat litter box blew off the third floor balcony.

hopefully not too much damage though.

stay safe

HarreePotter · 18/02/2022 16:23

Next doors fence didn't survive

52andblue · 18/02/2022 16:24

@december212 9h, thanks for info on Borders - much appreciated. Both my Mother & my LDR partner have cancer, 1 in Kent, 1 in London (hence short notice trip & horrible journey today). I'm wrung out & just want to get home to my kids. Trying not to embarrass myself by crying on the train. Fortunately I have chocolate & a coat to hide under! (Plus others have it worse, I realise)

drybird · 18/02/2022 16:28

Place marking .. still now power 🤦‍♀️

Opal8 · 18/02/2022 16:30

Thewiseoneincognito · 18/02/2022 16:31

Still very wild on the Atlantic coast side of Cornwall.

Rowgtfc72 · 18/02/2022 16:36

Ridiculously windy now on the east coast. Forecasts reckon we've got at least another hour of this.
Not sure my nerves can take another hour of this!

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 16:36

Still windy south coast Hampshire but calmer than it was this morning.

Sat in my lounge.

One window is sunshine - the other is very black clouds.

Which will win out?!

Grumpsy · 18/02/2022 16:39

My garden wall is the latest victim of Eunice - abs the neighbours tree if the neighbour maintained his trees I feel it wouldn’t have been a problem 😡

Feministwoman · 18/02/2022 16:40

Things calmed down here about 3.30 pm, and the sun came out so I got the livestock in and fed.

Now have strong winds again and heavy sleet. Sky v dark.
Corrugated sheet gone from tractor barn, no idea where it is on the farm!
