Just "blowing in" from north Cornwall.
Can't see out of my windows for the salt spray that has landed on them. From 5 miles away.

Notonthestairs · 18/02/2022 16:43

@52andblue I hope you have a peaceful journey home after what must have been a very difficult trip.

We've got off lightly- lost a few fence panels (should have bought shares!) and a third of a tree.

PickAChew · 18/02/2022 16:44

Glad the winds are calming for most people.

Went out and taped down a neighbour’s bin lid, earlier. The house is empty, at the moment and the lid was already cracked half way across from storm Malik. Plus, I was sick of seeing it hanging over our fence! Turns out it’s quite difficult to cut parcel tape when it’s windy!

DoctorSnortles · 18/02/2022 16:45

Wild in Lincolnshire. Have developed a migraine from worrying about it! Sitting with a bag of peas on my forehead hoping against hope the roof doesn’t come off.

Piggywaspushed · 18/02/2022 16:48

DS in Lincoln seems surprised golf courses are shut. Students really are oblivious to weather...

TokyoSushi · 18/02/2022 16:48

Thanks @OhYouBadBadKitten Super info as always!

Mummapenguin20 · 18/02/2022 16:50

Place marrking

hoochyhag · 18/02/2022 16:52

@52andblue, in my thoughts Thanks

Worst it's been here in W Yorkshire. I don't think my fence will last much longer Hmm

Thanks so much Kitten 💖

It's only stuff, as long as people (and pets) are safe.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 18/02/2022 16:52

Calming down here in kent although still some strong gusts every so often.

The trampoline is in next doors garden and we have lost a trellis which snapped in half taken a wooden seat with it and attached flower pots. We had taken the willow screening panels down so they didnt get damaged but we have a lot of tidying to do when the wind finally dies down

queenrollo · 18/02/2022 16:52

@DoctorSnortles we have one room in the house which seems to be sheltered from the noise of it al so my DS and DH are hiding out in there as they are both really quite unsettled by it all. I'm not exactly happy but feeling more able to cope with it so am on duty listening out for any omnious sounds. Are you Fens or Wolds? I'm in the Fen, nothing down here to stop the wind in it's tracks.

justasking111 · 18/02/2022 16:55

Sun our now NW Wales. Wind eased off considerably

timetochangeusername · 18/02/2022 16:56

Checking in thanks for thread 3

InflagranteDelicto · 18/02/2022 16:56

It's calmed down in mid bucks. Bus ride in to work was zigzagging- no wfh option for me. Now leaving the bus station again and will be in the open soon. We have a heavy front door at work and the wind was blowing it open with ease.

Eunice is hitting the Netherlands now too… mobile.twitter.com/DANNYonPC/status/1494688816057266184

rattlemehearties · 18/02/2022 16:58

Due to drive to the East Midlands for the weekend but not sure whether it's safe, even tomorrow morning, would you drive this weekend @OhYouBadBadKitten ?

CaveMum · 18/02/2022 16:58

It seems to calm for a bit here in East Cambs before suddenly picking up again. Rain has at least cleared away.

Been watching the flights trying to land at Stansted on flightrader24 and there have been a lot of aborted attempts and diversions in the last few hours.

ofwarren · 18/02/2022 16:58

It's really slowed down on the fylde coast. We lost nothing thankfully

Pebbledashery · 18/02/2022 17:00

Settling in x

mrshoho · 18/02/2022 17:01

Blue sky's over North West London right now and the wind has quietened although intermittent gusts continue. We got off with little damage personally but there's been a load of trees down, roofs fallen and road closures across the Borough. Thankfully no casualties.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2022 17:01

The cats have (briefly) risked going out now. They're having to dodge the hail!

MeanMrMustardSeed · 18/02/2022 17:06

Been following these threads today. Thank you so much OYBBK.

Wiltshire was very windy but luckily our immediate area seems intact.

I should be driving from Wilts to Scotland tmrw. Am I mad to be doing it? I’ve done a lot of googling but can’t really work out what to do. It motorways all the way. I live 5 mins from motorway and going to central Glasgow. Would love any intel!

Hope everyone stays safe.

I'm in Lincolnshire too. Driven home from Louth over the wolds, which was 'interesting'
ponkydonkey · 18/02/2022 17:09

Lots of damage in a west of London market town 😱

Didn't go out today our house is intact phew
Wind has died down now, blue skies.... there's a large grey cloud about to descend

newnameforthehousehunt · 18/02/2022 17:10

@OhYouBadBadKitten thank you for the update, glad to hear the worst of the winds should leave East Anglia where I am, by 6pm. 50 minutes and counting Grin

Gladioli23 · 18/02/2022 17:10

In Suffolk here, winds had calmed down a bit but they are making a horrible noise now, not sure if the direction has changed or something but it's feeling worse again at the moment.
