I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

@OrangeSamphire

Thank you *@NotQuiteNormalMe*.

Yes that’s our trampoline. Storm strapped on each corner to concrete stanchions in the ground. It’s the only way to have one (and keep it!) living here.

That;s a brilliant idea. If we ever get a trampoline again I will do that. (Unlikely though as ours had the netting chewed through by foxes who then sunbathed on the mat. It was too cute to get angry about. )

@TomAllenWife

Flights are still leaving Bristol, I literally have no idea what to do Flights is at 2pm, we need to leave home about 10am
4 flights have been cancelled from Bristol in the past hour just to make you aware!
BestIsWest · 18/02/2022 07:54

Swansea way here. Windy but not too bad so far.

Delatron · 18/02/2022 07:54

Bucks have advised all schools to close so DS2 home but DS1 goes to school in Oxfordshire and that is still open despite the red warning. With zero communication. He went early on the bus so should be ok it’s just the journey home. Very frustrated with the lack of communication from his school!

OrangeSamphire · 18/02/2022 07:54

Kernow Weather Team has got their weather station (from Illogan) live on FB again. I find it a bit fascinatingly addictive!

Wind is blowing all the doors on our eaves cupboards open and shut and there’s some shuddering coming from somewhere. The cats are not impressed.

My son (who is non verbal) is squealing and flapping like mad.

It is going to be a noisy morning 😂

mummy3uk · 18/02/2022 07:57

not too bad in wiltshire apart from wind blowing down inside the chimney so the dogs on edge! Shes a little baby when it comes to wind, the kids are oblivious while im on edge waiting for the big gusts! Phone and laptop charged and think the boys tablets are charged just in case. Food wise im abit screwed in a power cut but hey ho!

ILookAtTheFloor · 18/02/2022 07:57

Not much happening here in Essex although I think the red warning is from 10am.

Its half term here so schools are already shut! But all the local country parks and the RHS place is also closed, as is a local petting zoo. We had a power cut the other night during Dudley so let's see what happens this time!

PuzzledObserver · 18/02/2022 07:57

Mid Devon here, amber warning in force. It’s been pretty calm so far, though starting to gust a bit more. Last night I put the car in the garage and we brought the bird feeders in.

Peak here is forecast for 10am. I have a hair appointment at 10am…. I think I will get charged anyway if I cancel so late. Or maybe they’ll be sensible.

Will reassess at 9am. I’m retired, don’t need to go out for anything else.

Snozzlemaid · 18/02/2022 07:58

Just woken up in Bath. All quiet here with blue skies at the moment.

CurryLover55 · 18/02/2022 07:58

littlese definitely don’t drive to The Cotswolds!

DeathWinsAGolfish · 18/02/2022 07:58

V rural Dorset here, some big gusts, but nothing out of the ordinary yet, it has got very dark again though.

CaveMum · 18/02/2022 07:59

Cambs/Suffolk border here, just north of red alert. Bit blustery here but nothing out of the ordinary. Finally got DH to help me tether the trampoline down last night, couldn’t for the life of me follow the instructions on my own but DH is ex-RAF and used to strapping down pallets in the back of C17s so we just about managed it between us!

lololololollll · 18/02/2022 07:59

@OrangeSamphire

Coast cam from my bedroom window 😂

Doesn’t look like much but the gusts are pretty big now.

Not much that can happen to us here I don’t think. House is 300 years old. No trees. High enough above sea level and a whacking great hill behind us.

Power cut maybe but otherwise not too worried.

Hope others in more vulnerable spots stay safe.

Love your view
toomuchlaundry · 18/02/2022 08:00

Getting very gusty here in SW

LadyFlumpalot · 18/02/2022 08:00

Not too bad on the Somerset/Dorset border (near Yeovil) - but I woke up about 5am with an awful headache and feeling my ears were going to pop. Despite ALL the painkillers the headache is still there. Wondering if this is a pressure headache from the weather or coincidence!

lochmaree · 18/02/2022 08:01

getting pretty windy now here in Sedgemoor, Somerset.

OrangeSamphire · 18/02/2022 08:02

Anyone else use the Barometer Plus app?

When I was young we used to have an old fashioned barograph, it was a beautiful thing. This isn’t the same thing of beauty but the charts are interesting.

Gusty and wet here in south yorks. Cancelled going into uni, I travel through 2 hotspots for local flooding so really don't want to get stuck anywhere. With the strikes and an occupation in 4 uni buildings by protestors I suspect everything will move online that is happening today anyway.

Polkadotties · 18/02/2022 08:03

Well it’s picked up here a bit in Essex

Snozzlemaid · 18/02/2022 08:05

As we're away from home I've just checked the webcam at Charlestown near where we live to see how things are going and doesn't look too bad at the moment https://pierhousehotel.com

Just realised when they said the date that it's my 50th birthday! Completely forgot. My mind was purely on the weather when I awoke a shirt while ago.
Think it's going to be a birthday to remember for all the wrong reasons.

Stokey · 18/02/2022 08:05

East London here. Bit windy but not bad yet. Cats have just been out but didn't linger long. One's gone back to curl up under the radiator which I think is the right move for today.

We're meant to be going to Bath later. I'm wondering if we should try and leave early instead but DH is meant to be working this morning.

Stokey · 18/02/2022 08:06

Happy birthday @Snozzlemaid!

SparkleWhale · 18/02/2022 08:06

It's gusty here in South Wales but around the same as Dudley was and our red warning doesn't kick in until later in the day Blush

liveforsummer · 18/02/2022 08:06

Our forecast here in Scotland was for 100% heavy snow from around 6am. Just grey and wet. No wind

DetailMouse · 18/02/2022 08:06

All trains after 5am today cancelled here, but so far it's really a very ordinary blustery day. DS2 has gone to work on his bike.
