I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

@theDudesmummy the worst of it will be over by tomorrow morning .

Also it’s amazing how they are still able to land in this weather! Depending partly on the alignment of the runway vs direction of wind. Eg Heathrow is struggling more than Stansted today partly due to this.

ancientgran · 18/02/2022 13:13

Giant Jewson bag just flown past, one of those big bags they deliver sand or gravel in. Don't know where it's come from, no work being done on houses near me.

The wind seems to be calming down, I can't hear it inside now but I can see the trees still being blown about. I had to go and rescue the bin as it was lying like a dead thing on the garden, bin day here but I don't think they are coming so bin has gone back behind the gate.

Delatron · 18/02/2022 13:14

Calming down in Bucks. (Tree fell on to DS1 school though!).

Do we think that’s the worst of it for us or will it pick up again?

AndrewPreview · 18/02/2022 13:14

That small tear at the O2 is getting bigger as time goes on. Makes my broken fence look like nothing.

Indoctro · 18/02/2022 13:15

Complete carnage in NE Scotland , 6" snow has fell in last two hours where I live. The roads have grinder to a standstill wit loads getting stuck and stranded

MrsTrumpton · 18/02/2022 13:16

Thought it was calming down where we are in north London but it's suddenly whipped up again. Watching a tree on the pavement across the street from our house being almost bent double.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/02/2022 13:16

Just braved a trip into the front garden with the dogs. It doesn't seem quite as gusty but there is a lot of flying debris out on the road.

Porcupineintherough · 18/02/2022 13:16

Things are just getting going in Sheffield. I manage a lot of woodland so am expecting to spend the first part of next week clearing fallen trees from paths.

TraceyLacey · 18/02/2022 13:17

I'm in Cambs, my house is shaking, lamp posts wobbling. It was sunny earlier but now grey and starting to rain. I'm quite worried. DC are watching TV oblivious so as long as the power stays on they'll be okay at least.

thunderonlyhappenswhenits · 18/02/2022 13:18

Can't really say we've had much happening in south staffs, the occasional big gust but seems the same as it was Wednesday to be honest. I appreciate other parts of the country have been hit hard though

ofwarren · 18/02/2022 13:18

It's picked up here on the fylde coast. Wind is roaring down the street and I keep hearing the bang of things falling down.

Lockheart · 18/02/2022 13:20

In NW London, not much has happened beyond strong wind on my street that I can see. My skylights are going mad though and I'll have to check the roof for lost tiles tomorrow morning.

Other than my office VPN dropping out every now and then all seems OK touch wood.

Think we're about halfway through now.

SnotMikeUpPuffedHe · 18/02/2022 13:20

West Wales Coast - it's similar to what you described, OYBBK. A lot of the time it seems like just normal breezes so it's easy to look out of the window and think 'is that it?' but when the gusts come they are ferocious.

TokyoSushi · 18/02/2022 13:21

Picking up here in Cheshire, the sky is black and it's the windiest it's been all day

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 13:21

Seemed to lull here in Hampshire for a bit.

Getting long prolonged gusts again now. But still doesn't feel as bad as it was at 10.30/11am ish?

TheVanguardSix · 18/02/2022 13:22

It seems to go from calm to crazy here in West London. All quiet at this very moment, but it's been wild out there... I'm just amazed I haven't been the recipient of the neighbour's scaffolding or skip contents (yet!).
At this very moment, it's still hell on wheels windy.

SuperSocks · 18/02/2022 13:23

It seems just 'ordinary crazy winter wind' here today (coastal Cornwall) but must have been bad during the night because we have quite a bit of roof down!

NandorTheRelentlessCleaner · 18/02/2022 13:24

I'm Hampshire too,

All 3 roads into our village now blocked by fallen trees, so no way in or out Grin Glad I stayed home

The roof tiles on my house rattling like mad (high pitch, slate tiles ShockSad). Worried

queenrollo · 18/02/2022 13:25

@KatieKryptonite just starting to get quite blustery here again. My house is making all it's customary banging noises so am on alert for anything unusual.
Am just a few miles north of the Stump. We lost lots of mature trees in surrounding villages due to high winds over the last couple of months.
Expecting to see more of that after today!

Sowhatifiam · 18/02/2022 13:26

It's picked up here on the fylde coast. Wind is roaring down the street and I keep hearing the bang of things falling down

It really has! I have just moved fro. The front to the back of the house. Looks like a war zone at the front and like nothing is happening at all at the back. M

ISmellBurnings · 18/02/2022 13:28

We’re watching the Heathrow live feed of the planes landing. The DC think it’s great but I would not want to be flying right now!

roseberrycherry · 18/02/2022 13:29

Bucks...we lost a fence and dog is terrified. School closing early.

overthethamesfromyou · 18/02/2022 13:30

How can you tell if the worst has passed? We are West Sussex coast and it feels as if it has calmed down, but it's hard to tell.

GloriaSmud · 18/02/2022 13:30

I'm running Flightradar24 as well as BigJetTV, as flights abandon their landings at Heathrow and have to circle round again.

Peridot1 · 18/02/2022 13:31

Power went here just after 11. According to someone n the village WhatsApp group it’s estimated to be back on by 23.00. Tomorrow. Could be interesting!

We are having some stock fencing replaced next week and the guy rang DH to say he’s not working next week as the weather will be bad. He also said he normally gets about two calls a day. So far today he’s had around 300. Which I don’t actually believe but I do believe it’s a lot more than normal!
