I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

@HemanOrSheRa

A tent has landed on our driveway and wedged itself against the wall Confused. There's no one in it. I made DP go and check!
Did he check underneath? Especially for some ruby slippers!
Alexandra2001 · 18/02/2022 12:34

Easy very slightly here in SE Cornwall, still very gusty though.

Met Office say 122mph gust recorded on Isle of Wight... highest ever, so any one say "Get over yourselves" is being rather silly.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 18/02/2022 12:34

@sassbott

Also glued to the airplanes landing. It’s his cheering of the BA flights that has me 😂😂.

Some of those pilots though. Especially the one who just landed the Qatar airbus.

The Qatar one didn't land, he's had 2 tries but still up there! The one you saw was Emirates, and was beautiful.😻

In Sussex near the beach, Spring high tide due in next few minutes and wind is viscous.

Doghairismyglitter · 18/02/2022 12:34

Thought worst would be over in Cornwall by now, just had one tree snap, one is now leaning very much over and the biggest is creaking and cracking.
Plus I’ve got bits of ceiling plaster coming down from underneath the attic hatch which is worrying me.

HesterShaw1 · 18/02/2022 12:35

Apparently crew were in the building when Sennen's roof came off. It's come down on a live cable

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 18/02/2022 12:35

@sassbott (assuming you meant the big A380s there.)

tapdancingmum · 18/02/2022 12:36

In Bucks and it's very wet and wild here. Just had a gust go round the house and can hear some rattling so need to go and look what it was.

Titsywoo · 18/02/2022 12:36

Has anyone seen what has happened to the O2 in London?!

Oh no! Are the Crew and other staff all OK??

There seem to be longer gaps between noisy bits!

I'm down the seafront now checking on property and have been for several hours. I'm so glad this is a NW wind now, though sympathise with the poor sods in St Ives and Portreath etc!

OrinoccoFlew · 18/02/2022 12:37

Gathering pace in East Anglia

HesterShaw1 · 18/02/2022 12:37

Yes no reports of any injuries.

MrsWombat · 18/02/2022 12:37

Schools are now able to virtually teach instead of having a "snow day". Not a bad thing when so much learning has been lost already due to Covid.

Here in SE London, my neighbours tree and half their fence has come down. The other half of the fence won't last long. Our shed roof has blown off too. Confused

WinterIcelandicPony22 · 18/02/2022 12:38

Our chimney pots have just landed and smashed all over our patio. I think they were the original Victorian pots.

Rather stupidly a little earlier I was wondering why on earth I could hear planes taking off overhead- it was the wind obviously!

oakleaffy · 18/02/2022 12:38

O2 in London says ''Torn in half''...but looks like a small hole in the tarp to me??

itwasntaparty · 18/02/2022 12:39
@ponkydonkey you can watch them all attempting to land here!
This is compelling - I'm supposed to be working!!
viques · 18/02/2022 12:40

@mummy3uk

fecking hell... lost my fence :( £1900 is the best quote for feather edge and taking all old fencing plus labour so thats me buggered money wise. Ah well needs must for a secure garden and fence to withstand any further gusts! Its still blowing like mad here in wiltshire :(
Won’t it be covered by insurance?
ZittiEBuoni · 18/02/2022 12:41

So weird here on the Dorset coast - BRIGHT sunshine now and almost calm. Five minutes ago it was dark and super-gusty Confused.

Justanotherobserver · 18/02/2022 12:41

What @EvilPea said upthread about the downed and re-righted trees at Kew, if I remember correctly, one the reasons the trees thrived was because the ground beneath them had become very compacted and by being downed and then put upright again, the looser soil helped them regenerate. Can't remember the term for it at the moment but there is a device that blasts air into compacted soil which does the same, but without the tree falling over.

alloalloallo · 18/02/2022 12:43

@Laska2Meryls Yup and that's just up the road from us !.....Its quite hairy hare atm but looks like the worst will have blown through soon though

Me too. Although I’m at work so it’s not as bad where I am. A random canoe has just blown down the road though. DD is at home and she says it’s pretty hairy

Have you seen the video of Red Funnel going into Southampton? Glad I wasn’t on that this morning!

mummy3uk · 18/02/2022 12:43

@viques sadly not. Not covered by the extreme weather it seems. Ah well, once its done its done and sturdy

Justanotherobserver · 18/02/2022 12:43

In other news, a black bin bag has attached itself to my car aerial and is waving madly. Very wet and blustery out so it can stay there for the moment.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/02/2022 12:44

itsgettingweird It's a bit late for that. He's reversed the car onto it! Oops!
