I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

@OhYouBadBadKitten

Met office are saying it is starting to ease off in the far SW. That will be a relief to many.
Yes, after a scary couple of hours winds not quite so bad and Bristol/S Glos area is now downgraded to Amber.

Both Severn Bridges still closed and also the Clifton Suspension Bridge due to a tree being brought down.

Eunice is now heading East.

@Underparmummy

Annoyed to be homeschooling whilst working again. Feels like schools have discovered a new trick quite frankly. It is very windy here (coastal) but I don't feel that is scary or a massive threat (unless you were a total tit and decided to get in the sea for some reason).
I believe some years ago in a school local to me a child died after a tree fell on them at school. Maybe that's why.
DustyOwl · 18/02/2022 12:24

In Poole, feels like it's calming right down. We are often sheltered by the purbecks/Old Harry, think we might be ok? Any thoughts?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 12:24

@Mama1980

I'm in Essex anyone know when it's expected to ease - is our red warning still due to lift at 3?
It is, but an amber warning will remain in force.

Also glued to the airplanes landing. It’s his cheering of the BA flights that has me 😂😂.

Some of those pilots though. Especially the one who just landed the Qatar airbus.

minsmum · 18/02/2022 12:24

A tree in my garden has gone and a fence panel has split in half and hanging on by a thread, it's right next to my conservatory. Eek

Sharrowgirl · 18/02/2022 12:24

@drybird

I'm now actually very scared here. I'm in a remote cottage in the depths of a farm on the Kent coast. Power gone, kids and me and the dog sitting in bed 😳 I've tried my best to secure what is in the garden
Hope you’re ok drybird. Dig in, keep warm and the storm will pass
MedusasBadHairDay · 18/02/2022 12:25

It's much worse here now in Bucks, my office roof is making awful creaking noises. I will be devastated is the roof comes off, only finished decorating it last weekend.

Heard a huge "whoomp" noise a few minutes ago, sounded like it was coming from a neighbours garden but can't see over there so no idea what it was.

DustyOwl · 18/02/2022 12:25

And, as an aside, teachers actually hate online learning. It's much easier to have them in school and we actually quite like children, kind of goes with the job.

sassbott · 18/02/2022 12:25

Surrey/ Greater London it’s blowy and gusts. Reports of trees coming down in local area. It’s suddenly gone gray (vs blue skies and sunshine), so it may be about to worsen

I wonder if they enjoy the challenge really. So much of flying must be very routine.

@Underparmummy

Ridiculous that we have all become so fucking precious nowadays.
Says the woman bleating about have to do a day's home learning! Get over yourself.
Mama1980 · 18/02/2022 12:28

Thank you. Our neighbours have just lost their shed its blown into the road.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/02/2022 12:28

A tent has landed on our driveway and wedged itself against the wall Confused. There's no one in it. I made DP go and check!

The wind just blew our fence over. It's now in several pieces on the ground (will move it all of course). VERY strong gusts here, London

TomAllenWife · 18/02/2022 12:29

I've made it to the airport 🙌🏼🙌🏼🤞🏻🤞🏻

mummy3uk · 18/02/2022 12:31

fecking hell... lost my fence :( £1900 is the best quote for feather edge and taking all old fencing plus labour so thats me buggered money wise. Ah well needs must for a secure garden and fence to withstand any further gusts! Its still blowing like mad here in wiltshire :(

Oh god 😂😂
Thelnebriati · 18/02/2022 12:31

@PeeAche

Our 22 year old walnut tree has just come up at the roots and smashed our shed to bits. Feeling both sad and a bit afraid. Kids are crying. Can hear a neighbour outside furiously hammering something. 🤯
IDK if this will help but about your tree, if you can find a tree surgeon for next week, they might be able to hoist it upright and save it.
LakieLady · 18/02/2022 12:31

Sussex. A large-ish piece of greenery, approx a foot long, has just blown past my front window.

I opened the back door just to see how windy it actually was, set foot outside (back door is on the sheltered side) and the noise was absolutely deafening.

Laska2Meryls · 18/02/2022 12:32

@OhYouBadBadKitten

A gust has been provisionally measured at 122mph at the Needles. While this is a very exposed site, well placed for funneling, if it verifies it will be England's highest ever recorded gust.
Yup and that's just up the road from us ! .....Its quite hairy hare atm but looks like the worst will have blown through soon though ...
Treeroo · 18/02/2022 12:32

Very scary here. Been watching a trampoline blowing away homeowners must be out!

Starseeking · 18/02/2022 12:32

I didn't think it was going to be that bad up here (outer West London). I opened the back door this morning to throw out DC's nappy, the force of the wind nearly blew me away, and I'm not small!

Just tried to cancel half term local theatre trip for the DC. Phone lines are closed, can't leave messages so I've sent an email. Hope I get the money back.

liveforsummer · 18/02/2022 12:32

@TomAllenWife yey, just watched 3 successful first time landings there although one was holding for a LONG time. One has diverted without really attempting but another landed sincerely . Everything crossed for you
