I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Sennen lifeboat station roof has blown off

nordica · 18/02/2022 11:46

A neighbour a few doors down is getting a loft conversion done with the obvious scaffolding and cover up around their house - it's SO noisy. I'm surprised it still all looks intact, it's like sails catching the wind.

Twopenny · 18/02/2022 11:46

Very hard to focus on work here. Every time there's a big gust I can't help but see how far the tree in our back garden is bending. Current answer: more than I thought possible. It's a big, thorny bastard so if branches come off they'll be pretty nasty.

Also had to jog out and secure two loose cables on the font of our house that were whipping around in the street at face level.

UK now on ventusky

@theDudesmummy

Big Jet TV's feed is on the BBC's live page on the storm. Just watched a BA 777 land, glad I wasn't on it, it looked very scary!
Didn't the pilots do well!

Bet some full ''Comfort bags'' on the planes..and some brown trousers.

KatieKryptonite · 18/02/2022 11:48

I'm on the edge of The Wash in Lincolnshire. Not too bad at the moment but there's the occasional nasty gust. It's unusual to get the wind from this direction, there's nothing much between us and the North Sea and we usually get the weather from that direction.

Timetobuckup · 18/02/2022 11:48

That Big Jet TV is addictive

I really should be doing something more productive

DeathWinsAGolfish · 18/02/2022 11:49

Rural Dorset, a slate off the roof and now a power cut, some very big gusts with constant background wind.

justasking111 · 18/02/2022 11:49

Sorry that was earlier, London bad now

Someone’s canoe has just blown past my window, but power is now back on

Should be working now the power is back but we’re all addicted to BigJet TV

GloriaSmud · 18/02/2022 11:51

Had a big gust of wind here (Leicester) about 1/2 an hour ago. My greenhouse just went over and hit my weather station. I don't think the readings from it are going to be too accurate for the rest of the day! Grin

Well, shit. SE Kent just above the Romney Marsh here. Missed my van by inches.

It is quite scary being surrounded by so many huge trees that I know our neighbours don't maintain. But they seem to be withstanding the wind pretty well at the moment.

Bornin1989 · 18/02/2022 11:53

Our boat is rocking just outside of Bristol and our dogs are getting itchy feet as they've not been out since this morning, but the storm is the worst it's been so far, I don't want to risk it! Does anyone know if it's going to get worse for the south west?

During one of the named gales a couple of Febs ago, a neighbour's tarps were ripped to shreds from one of those conversions. The sounds were intense, and cracking and snapping..
wholeygoley · 18/02/2022 11:54

In South Northamptonshire and it's all pretty still at the moment. Intrigued as to whether we're likely to get much more?

theDudesmummy · 18/02/2022 11:54

I am supposed to be working but now glued to Big Jet TV! I am in the west of Ireland, and it's fine here, but London looks hectoc!

Belle2210 · 18/02/2022 11:55

Heavy snow still going in North Aberdeenshire. Been non stop since 8am.

Oh wow we haven’t had snow all winter
Girlmumdogmumboymum · 18/02/2022 11:56

We're only in an Amber area, but its pretty bad here!
Some neighbours left their bins out- they're acting like bumper cars, smashing into everything!
Sounds like out double doors are going to come into the livingroom!

Absolutely nuts, and still, DH wants to go and visit his parents 30 minutes away in the sticks!

Same 😂 I'm in South London, when you go outside there's this crazy roaring sound! Someone just brought back my recycling box lid which had travelled down the street.

It shouldnt get much worse, but its going to take time to ease.

The gusts here are coming in huge long parcels, with near calm in between.

Feel like we've passed the worst now. The wind has dropped a lot in the last half hour or so. Looks like a clear February which is a bit blustery.

queenrollo · 18/02/2022 11:59

@KatieKryptonite Yellowbelly here too and one of the things unsettling us is the direction of the wind. We kind of know how our house and garden fares with the high winds from the usual direction but we've weatherproofed as much as possible and just sitting fingers crossed now.
I'm about 20 miles inland now, but I lived in Skegness during a big storm in the 90s and could hear the sea from house.

That happened here for a short while but now it’s worse than ever! If you look at the satellite photos the storm isn’t a block, it’s a bit like spokes on a wheel, one will pass, then a gap, then another.
