I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Really picked up here in West Wales, watching the movement of the trees by my house with trepidation, debris hitting my windows.
As to be expected lower reaches of Fishguard and Cardigan are flooded.. Hopefully not much longer to go.

IFinallyJoinedNowWhat · 18/02/2022 11:15

@Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters Ah bless! I was working but our dog was getting very antsy so I have given up for now and come to snuggle on the sofa with her. Winds hitting the back of the house so I’m glad I’m now in the front room tbh

AndrewPreview · 18/02/2022 11:15

Humber Bridge is closing to all traffic at 1.30pm.

It's definitely breezy here (lincs, edge of the wolds) but the bright sunshine is very disconcerting.

RainCloude · 18/02/2022 11:15

Would someone kindly post a link to watch the planes land? I've googled but just get sites with loads of pop ups etc!

SW Herts here - if I hadn't been following the weather I would just be thinking Ooh quite blowy today! Presume the wind will grow in strength - or defy the forecast.

TFL still running double deckers which seems strange

TheSmallAssassin · 18/02/2022 11:18

Don't forget that the moving arrows on both Windfinder and Earth Nullschool are not live wind, they are from the US GFS forecast model - the Windfinder app says it only updates 4 times a day.

You can get observed wind speeds on Windfinder, but they aren't that easy to see. XC Weather isn't as sexy, but does show actual wind speed and updates pretty regularly.

oakleaffy · 18/02/2022 11:18

Gusts in Bristol area very strong and sudden. Noisy outdoors.

lightisnotwhite · 18/02/2022 11:19

Hampshire. Just been into town and it was calm and sunny.
However 10 mins later and it’s very gusty and all the felt is off my shed roof. I’ve taken the arbour door ( and half my clematis ).
Sure they’ll be trees down soon.

scooterbear · 18/02/2022 11:19

Herts/Essex border. It's really picked up the last hour or so. Wind roaring down the chimney and debris flying everywhere when I walked to the shops just now. Dd1 still wants me to drive her an hour to billericay later for prom dress shopping this afternoon. No chance.

Fens here, but can see the Wolds rising in the distance from my uptairs windows. Currently have some blustery moments, rain and yet bright blue sky!

I don't like going over the Humber Bridge when is isn't windy!!

RedToothBrush · 18/02/2022 11:19

@PartyAtSueGrays

Both Severn bridges now closed. Apparently the first time this has happened?
It looks like the worst of the weather tracked up the north of cornwall, missing most of the worst of it, but has hit the north devon coast pretty hard and is hitting south wales pretty hard. And its hitting the south dorset and hampshire coasts hard.
theDudesmummy · 18/02/2022 11:20

Big Jet TV's feed is on the BBC's live page on the storm. Just watched a BA 777 land, glad I wasn't on it, it looked very scary!

vixeyann · 18/02/2022 11:20

@EvilPea

Really is :( Everyone loves that tree and people opposite even put their Christmas tree decs on it. Wondering how The Storm Tower on the cliff edge is faring :/

viques · 18/02/2022 11:21

The metal top of my garden side table has just launched itself off its base. It is getting very windy here, east London.

theDudesmummy · 18/02/2022 11:21

As he says on the feed "very brave pilots"! My DH used to be a pilot (not of such big planes though) and I could never ever do that job!

WalkingOnSonshine · 18/02/2022 11:22

Any idea if it’s passed Somerset West now, we’re just outside of Taunton

caranations · 18/02/2022 11:23

They are now cancelling departures from Luton.

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 11:24

@LilyGlobe

I can also see the Solent from my house Grin I’m roughly 3.5 miles inland. I’ll be really surprised if there aren’t trees down near us. It’s such weird weather too - raining one minute, not the next, grey skies out of one window, glaring sunshine out of another Confused
I'm waiting to hear if day swim training is happening later.

Cancelled this morning - but I'm not sure they'll be encouraging swimmers to travel in and into Portsmouth for 4/5pm!

nordica · 18/02/2022 11:25

What's the best live radar map to see the progress? I'd like to be able to understand if the worst is still to come? Met Office forecast for my area shows the highest gusts around now until 1pm ish and then the speeds drop a bit from there.

Calennig · 18/02/2022 11:26

Thank you useful information -we're south wales but further east than Cardiff so still waiting for worst I think.
WinterCarlisle · 18/02/2022 11:26

SE London here and really ramping up in the last 15 minutes

TheSmallAssassin · 18/02/2022 11:27

You can see the last 24 hours of wind gust measurements at the Met Office too.

Vargas · 18/02/2022 11:28

Quite a few bins gathering in a little clump beside some poor bugger's car. Many (sarcastic) thanks to the neighbour with the steel bins which are now empty and rolling back and forth across their paved front garden.

Just saw a woman go past in running gear, headed for the park...
