I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Lost power for a couple of hours mid Cornwall, back on now.
Rescue cat is really anxious and has wet himself twice when particularly big gusts have hit the building side on (I think he's frightened he will be put back out on the street - I'm having to work round him, poor little soul, he wants cuddles all the time. The other three are like "meh?" and have been pottering in and out for a pee quite happily.)

Met Office thinks we're past the peak now although still gales for the rest of the day, not just "what the chuff???" level of gales. Bin's gone over twice.

Teamill · 18/02/2022 10:57

Unless it changes it's just a breezy day here in SE London.

cjcjcjcj · 18/02/2022 10:57

does anyone have a link to a live weather map showing the storm movement in real time?

Piggywaspushed · 18/02/2022 10:57

OK, hands up, who actually still owns torches that are making people rush out to buy batteries??

I don't think I have owned a torch for 15 years...

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 10:58

@LilyGlobe

South coast, Hampshire. Wind has picked up dramatically in last 5 minutes. I’m very much hoping it doesn’t get any worse than this.
I think you may be near me.

I'm south coast Hampshire too and the gusts are getting much stronger as the hour passes.

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 18/02/2022 10:58

Just had to help neighbour remove her fence panel from my car Shock no damage to car luckily

Also on South Coast (Near the Solent) and it's all picked up majorly, making me edgy now.

Devon & Cornwall border - awful here. Local pool's roof blown off, huge ancient tree in the local square has fallen, taking out the stone wall surrounds - very sad as it seems to have been there forever. Hiding in my room as too scared to keep watching our fence swaying like a snake ......

LadyFlumpalot · 18/02/2022 10:58

The whole roof has just peeled off from Sennen Lifeboat Station. I follow "SennenCove" on Instagram and they've just made a post.

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 10:59

Ugh you're also very close then! I can see the Solent from my house but I'm about 3 miles inland!

baroqueandblue · 18/02/2022 10:59

SE London here, high up with a view over Greenwich and the Thames and Canary Wharf. In the last 15 to 20 minutes the wind has definitely become pretty ferocious, can hear lots of emergency vehicle sirens and the windows are creaking in my building. Jesus, as I type it's looking and sounding scarier by the minute. Feel like I should stay in the hallway, which is in the middle of the flat. Shrubs flattening to. the ground, trees bending, it seems to come in these increasingly ramped up gusts that strike terror into me to be honest! It goes relatively calm and then suddenly roars into action.

Is that Bude? I've just seen video of the tree going on twitter. So sad, she looked like a venerable old lady!
LadyEloise1 · 18/02/2022 11:00

Wet and windy here in Dublin.
But so was Wednesday. Smile

actiongirl1978 · 18/02/2022 11:00

@Piggywaspushed we have a whole basket of torches!

We have been big campers plus live rurally so needed for dog walking in the dark/walk back from pub. Mobile ph torches are useless.

However I always have a massive stash of batteries too.

Vargas · 18/02/2022 11:00

Getting v windy in S London now! Bit worried about overhead wires in back of garden. They go through a tree that is waving around quite a bit now.

ShinyS1 · 18/02/2022 11:00

We're in East Mids, a few strong gusts, that's it (for now).

Wowwellokthen · 18/02/2022 11:01

Kent/Sussex border here...sunny and a bit blustery but that's it so far.

Vargas · 18/02/2022 11:01

Feeling sorry for the poor buggers who flew Bordeaux to Gatwick, had two aborted landings and flew back to Bordeaux!

MedusasBadHairDay · 18/02/2022 11:01

Really picked up here now, can feel the gusts making the floor of my office vibrate

VioletCharlotte · 18/02/2022 11:02

My fence has just come down on both sides. Wheelie bins gone over, 2 pots broken and a roof tile off Shock

baroqueandblue · 18/02/2022 11:03

@Teamill are you for real?! Hmm

EvilPea · 18/02/2022 11:04

@Mybestyear

We are West Scotland - a bit of light snow but now turning to rain. Work emailed late last night to tell people to WFH if they could so I am - but I could easily have gone in - and now wish I had as I prefer being in the office (it's now too late as I let my DS take the car and it is my only means of getting to the office).

Was watching SKY news at 9am whilst having breakfast - they seem to be doing their whole bulletin live from areas in the amber/red zones. There was one section where the reporter was getting blown to pieces and somebody was constantly wiping rain away from the camera lens. Hard to hear the presenters at times due to wind etc.

I'm a bit Confused with SKY giving out warnings to "stay home, cancel travel and don't go to coastal areas" when they are doing just that. Seems a bit irresponsible as it could encourage people to go down to where they are to see the filming or to think it can't be that bad.

I wouldn't want to be the person that signed off on that risk assessment!

I wouldn’t moan if they sent burley out in this.

Never the main presenters is it

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 11:04
@OhYouBadBadKitten I'm in South Wales near Cardiff
You've still got the potential for some very strong gusts I'm afraid.

It was Bude, just in the Triangle. Really sad :/

ShockShockShock

Makes it more real somehow when it's a building you know and can picture
