I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

@AchillesLastStand

Wind is picking up here in North Staffs and I can hear it battering the side of the house. I’m worried about picking up DS from school up 3 which is likely to be peak storm here. I wish they would decide to close early at lunchtime.

I'm in Staffordshire and I kept my dd home from school today, it's too far to walk and really didn't fancy doing school runs in peak winds. They break up today anyway so an extra day won't hurt. I'm assuming schools here are all open because it was still lovely and calm this morning, wondering if some will regret that decision as it ramps up throughout the day.

Checking in from Derbyshire! It’s a bit grey and drizzly with a breeze but pretty sure that’s the usual gloom of Derbyshire and not the storm Grin

Peppapigforlife · 18/02/2022 10:48

Getting a bit more ferocious gusts here in Kent. It's been windy since I woke up at 9am. It's supposed to peak in a couple of hours.

Doghairismyglitter · 18/02/2022 10:48

It’s bright sunshine one minute the dark skies and rain the next (Cornwall) The wind seems to stop for a few minutes and it goes almost calm, then comes back with a vengeance.
Managed to get the dog out on his lead at 6am for a wee & another at 9.30am (he’s old, bless him) but hoping he’ll hold for a bit now! He’s whining and shaking, not a happy chap today.

Whydidimarryhim · 18/02/2022 10:48

Bit of wind here!!! 😁 must be the prunes.

CatBook · 18/02/2022 10:48

We lost power in Cornwall for an hour or so but it's back on now. Huge waves out there but the tide is going out so less risk of flooding. It's still gusty though but nothing that we haven't gone through before. It's also been raining heavily which has sent the idiot wave dodgers back home.

arianasky · 18/02/2022 10:49

@OhYouBadBadKitten what is it you know? If it's passed or hasn't hit yet?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 10:49

Lots of power cuts emerging.

Getting much windier in NW6, allegedly we should be hitting the highest strength now but thankfully it doesn't seem too bad (famous last words). Noisy and strong for sure, but no large crashing sounds. Yet...

If it keeps up like this for the next few hours and doesnt get worse I think we'll get away with it. I keep checking out my window to make sure the bins and the BBQ are where I left them.

Sprig1 · 18/02/2022 10:50

In Wiltshire we have sustained wind speeds of 38mph and gusts to 54mph. It feels really windy already and it's getting worse fast. A few small trees down on our land already.

@IFinallyJoinedNowWhat

Wowza... it's frighteningly gusty here in Kent now. Feels very odd as the wind sometimes drops to almost nothing... then you get a terrifying gust. The dog is looking worried and I'm trying to be casual so she's not bothered! It's not working... Shock Is it too early for Wine?
My Goldie is now refusing to go out IFinally. She has been to the toilet a couple of times this morning so I won't be bothering with letting her out again until much later now. If she does go in the kitchen, so be it, the floor can washed. Not sure about the Wine mine's in the shed but I've got some pineapple rum in the house, can be one of my 5 a day, surely?

It's starting to get gusty now in south Warks.

Just had an email from the Secondary assuring us that the children will not be allowed out at break/lunch, all pe is now in the hall & that they won't be using the turning circle but instead have permission from the council & highways to use the road by the school at collection time.

Mooserp · 18/02/2022 10:50
@Mooserp I couldn't watch it any more it was making me anxious 😂
Yeah, just had my heart in my mouth! Must be very scary for the passengers

Lightning020 · 18/02/2022 10:50

Although we are in an Amber zone the next door neighbours have all sorts of crap in their garden so I really hope it doesnt fly upwards and create damage.

MedusasBadHairDay · 18/02/2022 10:51

@cabrillolighthouse

Oh fuckety fuck!!!! Thank god we moved the cars but porch has taken a direct hit Sad
Hope you are all OK and the damage isn't too bad Flowers

Just heard from my brother, he's been forced to go to work and has already driven past a handful of cars that have been crushed by trees

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 10:51

I can't tell you though arianasky unless I know your location.

Power and phone signal/Wifi cut here in E Sussex. Back now but for how long?!!!

Vintagevixen · 18/02/2022 10:52

At least next doors roofers have left for the day!

LaPufalina · 18/02/2022 10:52

Lots of us have horses! Peak mumsnet Grin Ours live out 10 miles away, I'm on rota to feed ours this evening. We're Manchester so hopefully worst will have passed by then.

crumblecrimble · 18/02/2022 10:53
@crumblecrimble the bit that is north of Bristol but south of Swindon sort of parallel to the M4. It's the tall trees and the ones up on the hill behind the house which seem to be really catching the wind if that makes sense, everything at ground level looks relatively normal at the moment (normal for a blustery February day anyway)
Interesting. I'm near Chippenham, and it's not been so bad here at all!

arianasky · 18/02/2022 10:53

@OhYouBadBadKitten I'm in South Wales near Cardiff

LilyGlobe · 18/02/2022 10:53

South coast, Hampshire. Wind has picked up dramatically in last 5 minutes. I’m very much hoping it doesn’t get any worse than this.

Calennig · 18/02/2022 10:55

@rainbowenfysdream

It's brightening in S Wales in red zone, hardly any wind just a bit of rain, has the storm hit yet? Im confused some sites show still at sea some show Ireland? But if this is all it will be then it's definitely something of nothing here very strange it was worse Wednesday and there wasn't either a weather warning in place? I'm guessing it hasn't hit yet and that's why?
It keeps picking up then dropping but it's stronger every hour - it's very gusty now thorugh rain has stopped- looking at wind map does seem like worst winds haven't hit us yet.
alloalloallo · 18/02/2022 10:56

We’ve lost power at work. Still have power at home though

I can’t do anything without a computer or WiFi, even out phones are internet based, no heating and it’s freezing, can’t even make a cup of tea

rainbowenfysdream · 18/02/2022 10:57

@Calennig yes it's strange isn't it, hoping it doesn't get worse
