I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

I am looking out the window to see a family with a little kid about 6 a little toddler and a baby in a pram heading down to see the waves crash against the beach. Hmm

We have trees down opposite us and the wind has started to howl.

Alrightqueenie · 18/02/2022 10:34

@cheninblanc* can you not work from home? Or has your work place not issued any guidance about coming in today. Kent is on red alert today.

You can't fix stupid.

I seriously wonder what is wrong with some people - and a small child into the bargain.

Insane.

Wowza... it's frighteningly gusty here in Kent now. Feels very odd as the wind sometimes drops to almost nothing... then you get a terrifying gust. The dog is looking worried and I'm trying to be casual so she's not bothered! It's not working... Shock Is it too early for Wine?

And then they'll expect people to risk their lives to help them. Angry

It's brightening in S Wales in red zone, hardly any wind just a bit of rain, has the storm hit yet? Im confused some sites show still at sea some show Ireland? But if this is all it will be then it's definitely something of nothing here very strange it was worse Wednesday and there wasn't either a weather warning in place? I'm guessing it hasn't hit yet and that's why?

PinkPlantCase · 18/02/2022 10:35

Anyone getting worried about outdoor pets? We’ve got some hens with a fairly large run under some trees. They have some shelter though I’m getting tempted to shut them in their coop but they won’t like it.

I imagine it must be a big worry for those with horses!

nannynick · 18/02/2022 10:36

West Surrey/North Hampshire border... lost power at 10:13. Powertrack indicating 400+ postcodes affected.

The wind is picking up, this storm is just getting started.

Mobile mast still has power clearly, wonder how long it will last though.

ClaudineClare · 18/02/2022 10:37

Blue sky in South London, if I didn't ever watch a weather report I would be tempted to go out for a walk!

It was like that here a little while ago. Now raining and wind very, very strong. I would not want to be out in it.

MinglingFlamingo · 18/02/2022 10:37

@Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters that's good. Yes it's the same here it's like it can't quite make up its mind what to do

@cabrillolighthouse oh no! Hope everyone is ok and not too much damage has been caused

If I'd had hens here I think they might well have been blown clean away by now unless they'd been put inside somewhere (which I absolutely would have done).

Our neighbour has 3 chickens and they've been put into the garage for the duration. They didn't seem very happy about it judging by the sounds but absolutely the best thing for them.

They might not like being shut in their coop, but it is probably best. Assuming the coop is secure of course !

The live coverage from Heathrow is addictive! I'm meant to be working...

Peppapigforlife · 18/02/2022 10:40

@Mooserp I couldn't watch it any more it was making me anxious 😂

Peppapigforlife · 18/02/2022 10:40

Can anyone link the storm tracker again for me? I can't find it in the comments.

Jedsnewstar · 18/02/2022 10:41

@rainbowenfysdream I was wondering the same. It got darker and windy but now it’s like it is passed. I have seen it MUCH worse with yellow warnings and we are in the red. Seems insane to close schools if that was it

crackofdoom · 18/02/2022 10:42

Lots of reports of trees down and power cuts in Cornwall, but we still have leccy, and bread baking in the oven 😊

Wind still mega strong (I think KWT reported a gust of 94.8 on their weather station in Ilogan) and now rain lashing against my bedroom window. Since my room faces N, I can now confidently report that the wind has swung round to the NW.

serialgrannie · 18/02/2022 10:42

South Gloucestershire calling. After an eerie calm and DH saying "usual media hype", it really started up 10 minutes ago and now is blowing, literally, a hurricane. Very gusty and rain started now as well. Batten down everyone.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 18/02/2022 10:42

My garden in London now! Looks positively calm and spring like!

Although 1 minute later a gust 💨 came through and something fell over on next door garden!

@Jedsnewstar I know it's very strange! I'm not sure if it's passed or if it hasn't actually hit yet? I'm not sure if anyone knows at all?

Wheresthebeach · 18/02/2022 10:44

Very windy in SW London now. Dog going bonkers.

Off to check out the live coverage from Heathrow!

allthesharks · 18/02/2022 10:44

It's getting VERY windy here now in North Kent. We're close to the Thames so very open.

obsessedlex · 18/02/2022 10:45

Morning all - pretty gusty here in Hastings but with weird totally between the huuuuuuuuge gusts. WFH in the very creaky conservatory! Someone up thread asked about insurance and fences...... we had a fence down and trees down and they asked specifically if the trees had fallen on the fence.... they had, I asked them why and they said that they would cover fences damaged by falling debris but not just blown over by the wind. I had to send picutures as proof.
Our power and mobile phone coverage keeps coming and going.
