I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Thanks @BerylStrip good advice. I’m also worried about gusts in central London and all the things that could blow into us.

Towel yes there will be tears here and huge guilt trips from the rest of my family. I just don’t want to put DD in danger. We’d also need to take public transport so as well as danger, there would be disruption too.

How are you feeling about it?

Gingerninja4 · 18/02/2022 10:01

East herts/West Essex border not to bad here currently and planes still taking flying in and out of Stansted Airport

cabrillolighthouse · 18/02/2022 10:01

Tree photo should be attached now

The sun's just come out in north London, which is really disconcerting because the wind is really picking up! It's not constant – there are lulls and then sudden, violent gusts that are making our fence shake. As someone up the thread said, the gusts are almost worst because you can't predict when one will come and they could lift you off your feet. I just hope the blue skies don't trick people into thinking it's fine to go out.

undercoverhero74 · 18/02/2022 10:01

Blue skies too here in Southampton, a bit blustery but nothing to write home about

Cheekypeach · 18/02/2022 10:01

@Thewiseoneincognito

Currently staying on an Atlantic facing beach in Cornwall and it’s gone utterly mental the last 20 or so minutes.

What’s coming over is horrendous. Do not be fooled by the relatively familiar winds, this is ferocious.

Are you north or south coast?
Alrightqueenie · 18/02/2022 10:01

@LilacPaisley

Happy birthday @Snozzlemaid and @Alrightqueenie 💕

Likewise. Hope you have the right kind of birthday candles!

Thank you @LilacPaisley I fell asleep aroumd 8:30am. It certainly is gusty here and the winds have picked up speed. Hope you all keep safe.
daisypond · 18/02/2022 10:01

Sw London. It’s quite sunny now and not particularly windy. I have to go into central London later on. As it stands, it’s fine.

reallyneedmoresleep · 18/02/2022 10:02

I’m staying in a holiday cottage on the Dorset coast. A tile has just blown off our roof.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 18/02/2022 10:02

All fine in Gloucestershire at the moment - just a bit windy

MinglingFlamingo · 18/02/2022 10:02

@Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters

Lightning020 · 18/02/2022 10:03

We just had our blue bin emptied and Asda are on their way... East mids here. Have now put my recycling bin back behind my gate and used gaffa tape on it again. I carefully removed the tape this morning and sat vigil by the window until they came...

cabrillolighthouse · 18/02/2022 10:03

It's hard to tell from a still photo 🤣 but the top of the tree was bent away in the wind and then suddenly pinged back towards me. You've never seen me run so fast in my life!!!

tapdancingmum · 18/02/2022 10:04

Posted on the last thread but putting it here now.I looked at my barometer last night and it's droped quite a way. Will be keeping an eye on it to see if it drops any further. Sun shining here in Bucks at the moment but can see the trees moving. Think it's time to go and put the bird feeder down

mummy3uk · 18/02/2022 10:05

why are there so many storms lately? It seems worse then usual this past year or 2

crumblecrimble · 18/02/2022 10:05

Where are you in Wiltshire @cabrillolighthouse?

Wilkolampshade · 18/02/2022 10:06

@cabrillolighthouse good grief Cabrillo!?! Is that your garden!?! Ti's lush! (missing point of thread)

Opal8 · 18/02/2022 10:06

East midlands here

Very sunny and not really windy here yet

Sprig1 · 18/02/2022 10:07

Really starting pick up here in mid-Wilts. I have just been out again to check the animals again and there were gusts that took my breath away and made it hard to stand.

Mybestyear · 18/02/2022 10:07

We are West Scotland - a bit of light snow but now turning to rain. Work emailed late last night to tell people to WFH if they could so I am - but I could easily have gone in - and now wish I had as I prefer being in the office (it's now too late as I let my DS take the car and it is my only means of getting to the office).

Was watching SKY news at 9am whilst having breakfast - they seem to be doing their whole bulletin live from areas in the amber/red zones. There was one section where the reporter was getting blown to pieces and somebody was constantly wiping rain away from the camera lens. Hard to hear the presenters at times due to wind etc.

I'm a bit Confused with SKY giving out warnings to "stay home, cancel travel and don't go to coastal areas" when they are doing just that. Seems a bit irresponsible as it could encourage people to go down to where they are to see the filming or to think it can't be that bad.

I wouldn't want to be the person that signed off on that risk assessment!

OrangeSamphire · 18/02/2022 10:08

Pressure rising back up here now on south east Cornwall coast. Wind has dropped. Hopefully that’s it now.

It’s been very windy for an hour or two but non eventful. None of the big storm wave surges that were predicted. Have seen much worse storms here in 2012, 2014 and 2019.

SE London here. Just taken dog for walk and been back for 20 mins. Blue sky and a few gusts but nothing terrible yet. In fact garden absolutely still as I type. I'm sure it's on its way but easy to think there's nothing to worry about!

Newnormal99 · 18/02/2022 10:09

South London / Surrey here and the bins have started going.

Lonelycrab · 18/02/2022 10:09

Really picking up now. N Hampshire. But actually lovely sunshine too although there’s some ugly looking clouds on the horizon.

Doghairismyglitter · 18/02/2022 10:09

Morning all! Cornwall here. Was nothing too bad this morning but really picking up now. My 3 large trees are okay so far 🤞🏼🤞🏼 But saw next doors smaller tree get ripped out the ground by its roots and fly through the air, just missed hitting their conservatory.
My Tesco delivery has been cancelled (quite rightly) hoping they’ll be okay to deliver tomorrow. Hope everyone is okay.
