I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

@itsgettingweird

The M4 bridge (locally known as the new bridge) is high sided for good reason but it spoils the view as a passenger.

Try and travel across the M48 bridge when you make the Swansea trip if you can (known as - you guessed it - the old bridge 🙂) - it only adds a couple of minutes onto the journey but it's a nicer bridge.

We walk/cycle over it which is a bit like milling around in a hard shoulder as traffic thunders past at 70+, hope those barriers are up to the job. Would not fancy walking over it today though!

@Celendine

South coast of Ireland , it's very bad ..house shaking and neighbour's six foot wall just blew over. Trees down and power gone, worst storm since Ophelia and we're used to gales on the coast.
Sounds scary. Stay safe. @Celendine Flowers

It's only just touching into Cornwall now. It seems to be a bit slower than expected?

Madcats · 18/02/2022 09:09

There was a big old full moon this morning when we got up.

A lot of schools round here (Bath) have an Inset day then half term. It's currently sunny and the wind is more gusty than it was. The flags on the Guildhall and Abbey are now flapping about (they were perpendicular to the poles, held in place by the wind).

Traffic seems about the same as usual (though there are very few trains and a lot of buses have been cancelled too).

Keep safe everyone.

NotQuiteNormalMe · 18/02/2022 09:09

Right. About to brave a five mile journey to work, both tree lined but not red until 10 although it's blowing hard. Hope to update!

Nothing going on in inner London, just a bit of breeze every now and then. Strangely silent and not much traffic. Calm before the storm - hope it's not too bad!

Rowgtfc72 · 18/02/2022 09:12

@RengadeMasterx I use the metoffice, willy weather and xc weather among others🙂

MermaidEyes · 18/02/2022 09:12

Staffordshire here, got up at 7 and it was still perfectly calm but wind is definitely getting up now and it's just started raining. There's still an amber warning in place so I think it's either going to hit with a vengeance in a couple of hours, or just pass us by...stay safe everyone!

cabrillolighthouse · 18/02/2022 09:13

Managed to fall back to sleep for a little nap but have just been woken by the eaves doors rattling (my bedroom is in the attic with small doors at either end leading into other storage attics). It still looks bright outside but there is a constant background hum which sounds a bit like an aircraft going over continually, I think it's the wind through the trees on the top of the hill, with occasional stronger gusts that rattle the eaves doors and window

Magicmagician · 18/02/2022 09:13

Morning, delurking to say it’s picking up a bit now in Cardiff after blue skies and calm this morning - can hear the wind whistling down the chimneys and doors are rattling. Skies darkening and trees blowing about more too so maybe due to hit us soon…

Sweetpea84 · 18/02/2022 09:14

Can’t find one of my cats 🐈‍⬛

Olinguito · 18/02/2022 09:14

I dismantled my bird feeder this morning as I didn't fancy parts of it flying off into the house. Now all the small birds have turned up looking for food and I feel really mean! I hope the wildlife finds somewhere safe to hunker down.

sassbott · 18/02/2022 09:14

Greater London/ Surrey. Light rain, birds singing, it’s very calm. If it wasn’t for the warnings it would feel like another winter feb day.

Have secured as much as possible outside. Devices charged, some films downloaded, torches ready. Have cooked a lasagne and some picky bits in case we lose power later. Flasks with hot water for vital coffee supplies.

And now we wait. Hope everyone stays safe x

Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters · 18/02/2022 09:15

@Photosymphysis - where abouts are you coz in my part of Cornwall it's definitely doing more than just "touching it".

Vargas · 18/02/2022 09:15

Phew - bin men have just been, so I've just secured bins in shed and took the bird feeders down. Still normal in S London, just a little wind.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 09:18

I think timings are about on track.

Like many of you I'm in the red warning area. If I vanish I've lost power.

I'm just over in Devon. I was looking at this site: earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-4.24,52.72,2869/loc=-3.954,50.683

Which shows we still have a lot more to come! 😬

FantasticFebruary · 18/02/2022 09:20
@FantasticFebruary 🤣🤣 In Bath thankfully! Haven't blown here from Cornwall
@Snozzlemaid. That's good to know.

🥳 happy birthday!! 🎂

I hope things are ok at your actual house too!

PartyAtSueGrays · 18/02/2022 09:20

South west wales and it's really ramping up now. 1200 houses without power so far but high tide has passed so too hopefully has risk of serious coastal flooding.

itrytomakemyway · 18/02/2022 09:20

The BBC forecast is totally different from the Met Office. The BBC says we are having the worst of it right now - we are not - it is starting to pick up, but nothing unusual for here. The Met has it at it's worse from 11.

Bedsheets4knickers · 18/02/2022 09:20

Getting windier & louder in essex

OrangeSamphire · 18/02/2022 09:20

Lawks. Suddenly a lot worse here in Cornwall coast.

househunters · 18/02/2022 09:21

Blue skies and no wind here- supposedly in a red area. Nursery shut though. Feels very surreal.

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/02/2022 09:21

Red zone on Severn Estuary north of Bristol. Sun and blue sky when I got up has disappeared and wind picking up but not alarming yet.
