I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Herefordshire/Monmouthshire here
Was sunny and "just" a bit windy until 9 am.
Now v dark and v windy here. I'm watching the trees in our wood really thrashing about.

Wind really strong.

Sweetpea84 · 18/02/2022 09:22

I’m in sw London and the wind is definitely picking up

Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters · 18/02/2022 09:22

Oh ok. My DD has said that link you posted is "sick" Grin. Looking at our newly built greenhouse is making me slightly worried I must say. Looks like it's going to take off. Fingers crossed x

Celendine · 18/02/2022 09:23

Thanks, you too Flowers Dimensions3

Motorina · 18/02/2022 09:23

Suffolk is windy but not exceptionally so, but I'm aware there's a lot more to come. Power keeps flickering on and off though. I've invested a lot of time, thought, and money in makign this house as power-cut resilient as I can, and this is the first live test of that planning. Quite excited!

XingMing · 18/02/2022 09:24

Inland in SE Cornwall, and the wind is rising. Bit of a squally shower.

toomuchlaundry · 18/02/2022 09:24

Some places near us now have power cuts

Webbedlife · 18/02/2022 09:25

BBC for me (S London hilltop location) has the worst around 12 with it starting to ramp up around 10. I made sure DH didn't park in his usual spot under a large tree, although it's certainly withstood other gusty winds before.

WeatherWatcher1 · 18/02/2022 09:26

Blowing a lot in East Devon. Trees and branches are starting to come down too. I have just reported it to Met Ofice via an impact report on wow.metoffice.gov.uk

spacehardware · 18/02/2022 09:26

Morning everyone - I'm in Somerset, woke up to blue skies but it's getting very windy indeed now!

daisypond · 18/02/2022 09:27

Sw London. Getting very grey, with sudden blustery squalls, but relatively calm at the moment.

CaveMum · 18/02/2022 09:27

Well I was just on www.weatherhq.co.uk looking at the reports out of my local weather station and the website crashed, so I guess everyone else is having a look too!

Dontlickthetrolley · 18/02/2022 09:28

It's sunny, the birds are singing and the odd gust of wind but nothing to write home about here in Northamptonshire.

Am tracking on my new favourite site earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-4.20,51.33,4254/loc=-5.835,50.280 I think the current calmness will pull people into a false sense of security.

On the above it seems to be slow moving, does anyone know of the red areas are likely to die out once it hits land or speed up?

XingMing · 18/02/2022 09:28

But the tide is on the ebb, so the risk of overtopping is falling.

VioletCharlotte · 18/02/2022 09:28

I'm in north Hampshire, I went out at 8 with the dog and it was blowy but nothing to write home about. The wind's getting up now, but we have blue sky and sunshine.

We're in a red warning from 10am. I'm hoping we don't get a power cut, I'm charging all my devices and have plenty of candles ready just in case!

Bedsheets4knickers · 18/02/2022 09:28

Essex again the house is starting to creek

Mama1980 · 18/02/2022 09:28

Essex here very calm but coming over dark now.

Bedsheets4knickers · 18/02/2022 09:28

@Mama1980

Essex here very calm but coming over dark now.
Which part are you in . It's noisy in Epping
OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 09:29

@itrytomakemyway

The BBC forecast is totally different from the Met Office. The BBC says we are having the worst of it right now - we are not - it is starting to pick up, but nothing unusual for here. The Met has it at it's worse from 11.
The BBC use a different weather provider - sadly they don't use the met office any more. It was a huge mistake for them to switch over.

South Warks checking in. Quite windy but nothing out of the ordinary, I think it's lunchtime- mid after it'll get bad. Both schools open as usual, although honorary Grandma is ready to have dc1 if needed, as she lives where the school is. Dc3 is off poorly but my ndn has said she can have her when I get the 3 from primary later if needed. Her Dh is expecting a busy day, he's a retainer FF & is on call. Dc3 is currently making sure all devices have 100%, including the toothbrushes Grin, bless her. We'll have a power cut at some point because, frankly, a chicken fart is capable of causing one in my village, it's just up for debate whether it'll be a short (anything up to 12 hrs) or long one. We have 'the power cut puzzle' ready to go though, we should be able to finish it.

After the last 2 years I'm not keen on stay safe seems to have lost some meaning but it's appropriate in weather like this, so I hope you all do.

BerylStrip · 18/02/2022 09:29

Reporting in again from South Cornwall, very close to the coast (closest town Redruth). It's terrible now - just watched with some alarm as the top of a neighbours tree bent and then snapped and was whisked off into the distance. I made the foolish mistake of ignoring advice and walked to get the paper, and almost got blown over by one particular gust. Looking at various live weather tracking maps we still haven't had the peak winds and I'm getting quite anxious.

Still have power and the interwebs though, so must be grateful for small mercies.

If you're further along in the UK, and think "oh, it's just a bit breezy" that's exactly what it was like here about three hours ago, so take this as a last chance to batten down your hatches.

Neither and/or both (unless a sting jet forms) It depends on your location.

East London here and no different to any other February day here at the moment.

I'm glued to Big Jet TV on YouTube who are live at Heathrow. It's my storm day guilty pleasure.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 09:31

Thank you Beryl its very good advice.

Morning from the Essex coast. First big gust 15 mins ago took one of the fence panels between us and the neighbours.

Neighbours are having a lot of building work done and the entire back wall of the house has been demolished ready for a double height extension. The builders are trying to make the site safe, I asked the builder in charge if he thought the house would be ok and he laughed nervously and said well I'm fully insured!
