I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Morning everyone. Very surprised to be in a red zone (north London/Herts). Garden all secure to the best of my ability. DD is autistic and is very anxious. I have plenty of special snacks to distract her and DS!

Vargas · 18/02/2022 08:32

Have just seen that London/SE is red from 10-3. DH has gone to work on the Tube, hopefully his homeward commute will be uneventful!

CaveMum · 18/02/2022 08:33

Hi @Furrow fingers crossed it’s not too bad around here. The wind can certainly pick up some speed as it whips across the Fens!

Igneococcus · 18/02/2022 08:34

@liveforsummer my dd just got a message from a friend that she isn't coming to school because of "all that snow" she lives about 20 miles south of us, other side of where the school is. My children just left for the bus because there is nothing on the ground here. It's crazy how much difference a few miles make.

Probably has a better chance than on the Rail network where the debris on the lines (often trampolines) will no doubt be chaos. Good luck.
MrsTrumpton · 18/02/2022 08:38

TheVanguardSix Hopefully their builder will have made sure the site is secured. There's a house near us having the roof done and the tarp is held down by bricks. That's going to end well. Hmm

CovidCorvid · 18/02/2022 08:39

East coast. rain has stopped, sunny and blue skies. Breezy but not terrible. When the wind gets up my house hums and vibrates so I'm not looking forward to later on.

Thorilicious · 18/02/2022 08:41

We've been upgraded to Red over night in Essex. I've just taken Ddog out for a quick walk. Wasn't too bad when I left, but the rain and wind was definitely picking up by the time we got back.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 08:42

So looking at how the development compares to models - so far it seems to be matching UKV closest I think. So widespread gusts across the south of 70-80mph expected.

very approx timings of the very peak winds which will last around 3 hours or so, but still with very strong and unsafe winds afterwards:

SW - already started but due to get somewhat worse.

Hampshire eastwards- around 10am - coinciding with the start of the red warning.
By 11am London will see gusts 70-80mph.

None of this takes into account any potential developing sting jet.

It's gone calm on the fylde coast after blowing a gale for a few hours.
I can see a bit of blue sky and hear the birds.

Pebbledashery · 18/02/2022 08:44

Checking in

Furrow · 18/02/2022 08:44

@cavemum we are lucky to have a tree shelter belt as long as they don't fall on the house!

ifonly4 · 18/02/2022 08:46

Very windy but blue skies in Gloucesteshire. DH got to work and two nearest schools are open (five others in three mile radius closed).

Dimensions3 · 18/02/2022 08:46

Thanks for the info @OhYouBadBadKitten

TheRealHousewife · 18/02/2022 08:46

The webcam links are interesting to view; be great if people who are aware of any more public webcams share the links please 🙏

Stay safe!

Junibug · 18/02/2022 08:46

Lincolnshire here - bit breezy but lovely blue sky and sunny at the moment 😬

Fl0w3ry · 18/02/2022 08:46

Im in the red zone. No wind or rain here and bright sunshine. So far just a normal day. It might be the calm before the storm.
I hope that the predictions for what’s to come later are wrong.

Lubeyboobyalt · 18/02/2022 08:47

my entire house is rocking - barely perceptible but it's definitely there, the water in the loo is rocking! south shrops, very exposed and very high on a hill

day off today, would go hibernate back to bed and read but our room is where the wind noise is worst and cops the worst of it

GloriaSmud · 18/02/2022 08:47

Leicester - it's bright sunshine and calm out at the moment.

Live blog things from the BBC and Guardian
(I've found the Guardian one to be the most reliable in the past.)

whojamaflip · 18/02/2022 08:48

Breezy here in the Cotswolds but nothing really out of the ordinary. Did have torrential rain about 6am but the sun is shining at the moment. Local weather station reporting wind of 31mph with gusts of 46mph.

Just heading out to check sheep and cattle and hopefully get all the feeding done before anything hits.

RuralDwelling · 18/02/2022 08:48

@DoctorSnortles

Getting fairly lively in my bit of Lincolnshire. Fully anticipate that the roof will be in the back garden by 2pm.
I'm on the Lincs/Norfolk border and it's raining heavily here but no high winds yet.

Stay safe everyone

Justanotherobserver · 18/02/2022 08:49

Bright and windy here in west Oxfordshire. My weather station is showing air pressure of 973 hPa which is pretty low. Wind is making roaring sounds.

Astonishingly, next door's builders have turned up and are busy working, though they've done a good job of securing whatever it is they're building. Wondering how long they'll stay.

MrsMigginsCat · 18/02/2022 08:49

North Cornwall checking in. We're about 3 miles from the coast as the crow flies. It's windy and seems to be gathering speed here now.

Fuckitydoodah · 18/02/2022 08:49

In Wiltshire. Was fairly calm until about 10mins ago and now the wind is starting to pick up and getting fairly gusty (is that a word?) out there.

MedusasBadHairDay · 18/02/2022 08:49

Kids school is closed today, quite glad not to have to do the school run today tbh. Currently not too blowy here in Bucks, not at Wednesday's levels yet. Hoping the huge tree a few garden along remains standing.
