This thread covers the expected severe weather on Friday - named Storm Eunice by the met office. At the moment there is great uncertainty, so the met office have put out a very wide yellow weather warning. It looks likely that some regions within the warning area will see gusts of 60-70mph inland, with a small chances of inland gusts above 80mph. The storm also carries the potential for some blizzards, but again there is currently considerable uncertainty.

A separate thread exists for Storm Dudley which is expected Wednesday/Thursday.

@Louisianagumbo. Am on the front so we are always massively impacted. Cannot sleep.

ofwarren · 18/02/2022 03:54

@RamblingFar

South East England including London just upgraded to red weather warning.

@ramblingfar where did you read that?

Westfacing · 18/02/2022 03:56

Inner London - very quiet so far.

JustJam4Tea · 18/02/2022 03:58

Southerly winds uncommon here. North west. Took dog out last night, v calm. House faces north and bedroom at front. All quiet at moment.

Furries · 18/02/2022 03:59

@ofwarren - was hoping it wasn’t right! But just googled weather for my village in Essex, clicked on met office site, and red warning is definitely there. Try the same for your area.

RamblingFar · 18/02/2022 03:59

My phone notified me - www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2022-02-18

@sowhatifiam
We aren't on the front but our street has a narrow entrance which is a wind tunnel. The neighbours next to the entrance to our close already lost 3 fence panels in storm Dudley the other day.
Raining a lot now and I can hear the wind howling down the street.
Fingers crossed for you being where you live. It's bad enough there in a normal storm Flowers

ofwarren · 18/02/2022 04:04

I've just checked the met office and there IS a huge red warning over London right down to the coast.
Frightening

ofwarren · 18/02/2022 04:11

It's in the news now

TokyoSushi · 18/02/2022 04:13

Just starting to get a bit breezy here in Cheshire. I can't sleep though.

Wagsandclaws · 18/02/2022 04:23

Oh wow just woke up to the massive red warning for the SE.

As I said upthread I think they are worried about a sting jet. Showing up on a couple of models by all accounts.

Please everyone stay home and take care. Can't sleep as in Somerset and it's quite gusty outside already. Rain forecast for another hour and I think I'm probably up for the day now.

Sowhatifiam · 18/02/2022 04:25

I am ready to crawl into bed with my eldest. I think I would but I know he’d think I’d gone mad. Hoping the power stays on - I intend to binge watch ER from the minute I get up!

Back2Black · 18/02/2022 04:25

Dorset - wind, rain, nothing too wild & the cat hasn't freaked out yet.

Sowhatifiam · 18/02/2022 04:26

What is a sting jet?

Francescaisstressed · 18/02/2022 04:27

I've had about 3 hours of sleep. Slept in the living room with my pets and our emergency bags just in case, killer headache.
I'm in Cardiff and it's raining quite a bit now, few creaks in the wind but nothing big.
Does anyone know of a tracker for the storm? Someone said its changing path but I'm not sure if that's better or worse for me...

Rowgtfc72 · 18/02/2022 04:28

Cleethorpes. East coast. Sheet rain but nothing else. Off to work with dh at 530am( so I don't have to bike) leaving 14 yr old dd home alone.

snowstorm2012 · 18/02/2022 04:30

Just woke up and saw the red warning, can hear the wind here too now (South Bucks). Stay home if you can and be safe 👍🏼

Wagsandclaws · 18/02/2022 04:58

My grown up kids are in it too @OhYouBadBadKitten - they live in Hampshire and London.

I've messaged them as one of them thinks she's going out this morning as she knows best ... I've made it quite clear what a red warning means.

Just outside of the red warning for the SW and the winds are quite loud already. I'm up for the day now I think!

Be safe everyone!

Rowgtfc72 · 18/02/2022 05:00

Just seen the red warning . My brother and sil are in it.

LilyGlobe · 18/02/2022 05:01

Also now in a red area. I’m very much hoping this convinces DH to close the business today.
We were given a flood warning last night and whilst the defences are up, it’ll be the highest tide we’ve seen so we went in last night to secure stock as best we could, just incase we couldn’t get in today.

Francescaisstressed · 18/02/2022 05:02

Yep, winds have started getting louder and louder here. Only a couple of hours until we're firmly in the red. Stay safe everyone. Think if we survive this unscathed will be having a wine tonight Wine
