Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

I was going to look for your thread on the snow but knew you'd been unwell. Hope things are picking up for you?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 28/01/2012 17:29

not as fast as I'd like Belledame but I'm pretty sure its just my new medication is being a bit tricky and its very annoying. I'm sure that once it gets sorted I'll be back to my usual self :)

ok, realised that this thread might be more obvious for those looking for thoughts on the up coming snow. So posted earlier:

"GFS is an absolute corker this morning it shows getting colder and colder through the week and then at the start of next week (Tuesday 7th) it shows a cold deep low crossing the country - guess what that would bring..... blizzards across much of the UK! Before we all hop up and down in excitement/panic (delete as you wish) remember that is 9 days away and one model. A long long time in forecasting land.

Back to today and tomorrow. As wet mild air bumps into the colder air snow is very very likely for western parts. Where exactly is always a bit of a guessing game - it depends how far the the precipitation makes it across the country and how heavy the precipitation is.

Best thing to do is to keep an eye on the met office warnings but be aware further east that there is the possibility of the warnings being extended this way a little. I would certainly think twice before using the A30 tomorrow as well as travel in that general area and through Wales/Gloucestershire/Shropshire and perhaps the Cotswolds."

Worth noting that the met office have upgraded to amber for parts of southern Wales.

DSIL is not coming over for DH's birthday dinner at MIL's this evening. She lives in North Wales, 30 min inland from Abergele, and the snow has been coming down for the last 2 hours.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 29/01/2012 16:18

ahhh, it starts :)

Keep it moving East and south a bit Grin

nothing to do with school closures and snow days!

ILoveOnionRings · 29/01/2012 16:20

Can everyone in the Midlands please do a snow dance as we are desperate for a snow / pj day (selfish I know but would like of day to watch Downton Abbey DVD I got for my birthday)

OhyouBadBadkitten · 29/01/2012 16:23

Grin youarekidding. I think we may see a little overnight, dont think it will be enough for a snow day.

BrightnessFalls · 29/01/2012 16:32

It's been such a boring winter!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 29/01/2012 17:28

it has been brightness, not even much rain down here. Tis like the weather has been turned off.
Mind you, the winds in the early winter were quite interesting.....

GloriaSmud · 29/01/2012 17:32

Went for a brisk walk to the postbox earlier and it felt like a proper winters day ~ dull, cold and miserable. When I checked what the car temp. guage was saying, it said it was 5C! It felt more like 2-3C!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 29/01/2012 17:34

well, thats quite amusing - gfs has completely changed its mind now and next weekend looks like quite a rapid warm up.
Just goes to show how fickle models can be.

Your roving Welsh weather reporter checking in. There was snow in the mid Wales mountains lunchtime today, and than from Aberaeron down to Cardigan. My sources facebook tell me that there is snow falling all around in South West Wales but not sticking much in most places. Overnight prediction, it will snow and stick as I have a job interview 45 minutes drive away, first sniff of any decent work in over a year!

mycatsaysach · 29/01/2012 17:55

so nothing for hants then?

snowy skies but a bit milder - no cold wind

OhyouBadBadkitten · 29/01/2012 17:56

aww lost, I hope it doesnt cause you issues tomorrow. Good luck, I hope it goes really well. at least you know to allow lots of extra time.
