Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

Methe - nah shouldnt have thought so. If you are rural central England then you could manage a local -8C over night thursday I think with temps making it back up to just around freezing.

For extra info on Glorias link netweather tv uses the output from the GFS model (with no human interpretation) so it does give an idea of what one model says but always worth bearing in mind that other models may be saying something vastly different.

few flurries earlier today - missed em tho

SuePurblybilt · 30/01/2012 14:24

Bother. I so wanted a snow day Grin

Hulababy · 30/01/2012 14:26

No snow here in Sheffield today, although we did have a few flurries and a couple of bigger snow showers yesterday evening. Today it is cold but the sun is shining and the sky is blue.

fatsatsuma · 30/01/2012 14:32

Thanks resident weather experts Grin

Just checking - are you talking about this week or next ie. Feb 6th onwards? It's next week that I'm worried about.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 30/01/2012 14:36

this week, next week the models are too split I'm afraid.

no snow here, but omg, it's sooooooooooo cooooooooooold

lostinwales · 30/01/2012 16:35

Poor DS1, his school is on the way into the mountains and quite often closes for snow but today they decided it would be ok so they all had to go to school but weren't allowed out to play. He's been sitting inside staring at pristine snow all day and now he's home there isn't any here!

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 30/01/2012 16:59

Hi all :)

Lots of sun here today, but no snow... and yes, AF, it was fecking freezing! I should have gone out and made the most of the sunshine though - I need all the sunlight, vit D I can get really, but I had loads I wanted to do inside today.

OYBBK - what's tomorrow going to bring me sunshine or snow? Nothing inbetween thanks!! Grin

How are you feeling now?

LostInWales - sorry you weren't offered the job, but it does sound like you are better off without it!

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 30/01/2012 17:00

Lost - that's rubbish!!! Poor kids. Why can't they just take a change of clothes?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 30/01/2012 17:26

that's not fair Lost :( what a waste!

You might see some sun chipping but I don't think it's going to be wall to wall.

OYBBK, the weather thing on my iPhone says snow for tonight. I'm in North Yorkshire. Just on the edge of the north York moors. Not far from Scarborough.

Met office doesn't say snow but does say wintery showers. Do you think we might see a bit? Please Grin

beachyhead · 30/01/2012 18:02

It's bound to snow in Hampshire at the weekend because there's a mumsnet meet up at Gunwharf Grin why aren't you all coming?

TheSkiingGardener · 30/01/2012 18:45

I wanted to Beachy but I'm in London this weekend. Will be travelling between here and London on Friday so I'm retracting my previous snow excitement. I've driven through enough snow on the M25 this decade.

Whatevertheweather · 30/01/2012 18:51

Ah didn't know there was a meet up Beachy didn't realise there were so many Hampshire folk about on here Smile Shame as I'm only across the water from Gunwharf can see the Spinnaker Tower from the landing window!

Anyway back to this snow....pleeeease?? My iPhone weather app seems to be showing snow flurries for Sunday. Its not the most reliable tool though it often has helpful things like Highs: 4 Lows: 0 Current temp: 8 Confused

youarekidding · 30/01/2012 19:03

It did snow in Hampshire.

A few flakes but snow none the less Grin

Bloody cold enough though!

Hassled · 30/01/2012 19:05

I'm on the Eastern Coast! Huzzah! Looking forward to a spot of nice snow - not too much, not too little.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 30/01/2012 19:25

Kayzr - looks like perhaps a little light snow your way :)

WETW - it is quite possible that you may have even more than that, but the models are really split on what will happen. Watch this space!

Chipping, getting there very slowly. Made it into work today (just mornings thank goodness) so spent most of the rest of the day resting. Thanks for asking.

Anything clarifying for Sussex/Surrey borders? Like six foot of white stuff? [hopeful]

OhyouBadBadkitten · 30/01/2012 21:31

lol PPP, some hints on gfs for this weekend :)

OP posts:
OhyouBadBadkitten · 31/01/2012 07:08

morning all. brrrr. -4.6C here. Off to look at the models.

OP posts:
OhyouBadBadkitten · 31/01/2012 07:26

Blimey, GFS shows a widespread snow fest for Sunday (but then the cold slowly retreats). Until then, light snow showers here and there, primarily down the east coast. Lovely (hopefully) sunny crisp winters day tomorrow. getting very, very cold over night.

UKMO brings snow over Scotland on Friday.

ECMWF shows a trough on Sunday which would broadly agrees with GFS I think but shows the cold retreating after the weekend.

Just a quick reminder to people - I am an amateur!!!!

Whatevertheweather · 31/01/2012 07:53

Brrr -4 here too. Not looking forward to the walk to school! Fx for Sunday then Smile

mankyscotslass · 31/01/2012 09:46

Cold here but not frosty - very grey and dull. DH was pleased he didn't need to scrape the car this morning. Smile
