It seems to me that the UK is the most uninteresting country when it comes to travel.

I’ve lived abroad for a long time and whenever people talk about visiting Europe, they always mention countries such as France, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Germany ECT. But I never hear people enthusiastically talking about wanting to visit the UK. I’ve even heard people refer to the UK as the backroom of Europe. Would you agree that the UK is kinda boring ? Even many British people themselves want to leave the UK.

Yawn.

Brokedownpalace · 27/06/2026 16:44

Hard disagree

Stegosaur · 27/06/2026 16:45

Hi Vlad.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 27/06/2026 16:46

Agreed. The one benefit of living in such a shithole is that when I go to London it's nice and empty because nobody ever visits.

feellikeanalien · 27/06/2026 16:47

Well obviously the Dutch, French, Italian and German cars and camper vans I am seeing driving past our house haven't had that memo.

vodkaredbullgirl · 27/06/2026 16:48

🙄

TemperanceWest · 27/06/2026 16:48

"Germany ECT"? What has Electroconvulsive Therapy in Germany got to do with your question @joseline ?

Other than that YANBU.* No tourists come to the UK. Not ever.

*Apols, thought this was in AIBU, which is where this sort of goady nonsense thing is usually posted.

mummypigoink · 27/06/2026 16:49

Absolutely. No excited tourists to be found anywhere in the UK.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 27/06/2026 16:49

You obviously know extraordinarily jaded or poorly informed people! It’s fantastic here! Are you really saying there’s nothing here? Would you like a list of what’s great here?

Minasama · 27/06/2026 16:50

Depends what you like. If you enjoy history, architecture, hiking, interesting topography we have all that. Food is not reliably good though and sun also unreliable.
The older I get the more I love a U.K. holiday.

Idlewilder · 27/06/2026 16:50

I've done a lot of distance walking and cycling in the UK, particularly since COVID, and have been stunned by the variation and beauty of the different areas of our country. I've met Americans and Australians who've come over specially to walk our long distance paths, for example the Coast to Coast and Hadrian's Wall, because of the varied and stunning scenery. London is full of international tourists. I guess it depends what you are looking for in a holiday but I think we should be proud of our historic country and its different areas of natural beauty.

FookFookFook · 27/06/2026 16:50

Are you kidding? This country has amazing history, culture, beaches, countryside, museums, historical landmarks …. We have SO much!

Borka · 27/06/2026 16:50

The 43.4 million tourists who came to the UK from other countries in 2025 would probably disagree with you

Shodan · 27/06/2026 16:51

I suppose if you're completely uninterested in wonderful historical buildings, ancient monuments, stunning beaches, quaint villages, the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands, the birthplaces of many famous musicians, artists, inventors and writers, world class museums and so on you would be pretty bored.

My mother used to say that only boring people get bored, so perhaps it's that.

Meadowfinch · 27/06/2026 16:53

Gosh, what an ignorant view OP.

Perhaps you should get off your bum in London (or Moscow), and walk the ridgeway at harvest time. Or visit the 100 best churches in London, or paddle the Norfolk broads, or visit the waterfalls of South Wales at dawn. Or walk to holy island on the first low tide of the day, or hike round Lochnagar while snow falls.

Then come back and tell us about it !!

EggSugarButterLemon · 27/06/2026 16:54

Yep no one wants to visit Edinburgh, York, Bath, Manchester, Liverpool, London, etc.

No international tourist industry at all….🙄

WonderWeeksArentReal · 27/06/2026 16:55

I live near a famous UK landmark. It's heaving with international tourists all year round.

HeddaGarbled · 27/06/2026 16:55

You made that up.

Onceuponatimethen · 27/06/2026 16:55

Recently having been to Scotland and having had an amazing time YABU OP. Edinburgh was full of enthusiastic international tourists who seemed to agree with me. Where have you actually been in the UK?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/06/2026 16:59

I love travelling abroad but I disagree with this statement, love visiting different places in the uk as well. Recently visited NI which was fantastic.

backformoreofthesame · 27/06/2026 17:00

the Dutch and Germans in particular seem to love coming over here so I guess it’s just the people you have met

FFSItsTooHot · 27/06/2026 17:02

Definitely not. I never go abroad on holiday as I there are so many fantastic places in the UK to visit.

Yep - Oxford and Bath are so peaceful and it’s lovely having days out in the Cotswolds where you can walk for ages without seeing another person.

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 27/06/2026 17:35

Lol noone ever visits the Lakes, the Highlands, London, the Cotswolds etc
