It seems to me that the UK is the most uninteresting country when it comes to travel.

I’ve lived abroad for a long time and whenever people talk about visiting Europe, they always mention countries such as France, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Germany ECT. But I never hear people enthusiastically talking about wanting to visit the UK. I’ve even heard people refer to the UK as the backroom of Europe. Would you agree that the UK is kinda boring ? Even many British people themselves want to leave the UK.

You need to watch Grand Day Out with Susan Calman to see some truly amazing parts of the UK that aren't the usual tourist attractions. Oh, but they don't exist as no-one visits them..

The 43.4 million tourists who came to the UK from other countries in 2025 would probably disagree with you

Yeah, they liked it so much, many of them never went back!

Nevergotdivorced · 28/06/2026 13:17

Never heard a foreign accent in York, Lincoln,London,Windsor.

Jeez, I am 60+ and have lived and travelled all over the UK, even in my native Yorkshire I still find hidden gems.

I will never tire of this beautiful country.

You are fishing with dynamite

Oh God not this poster again with their weird travel threads 🥱

Mumof1andacat · 28/06/2026 13:22

Currently sat on a beach in the south of England. Not in a huge tourist area. It beautiful today. Stunning. We've had a picnic lunch, a walk and will enjoy an ice cream soon.

I worked with an American who absolutely loved the UK, every weekend he was visiting Castles, Stonehenge, Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District, Offas Dyke, the Forest of Dean, St Michael's Mount etc etc. He came from Idaho which is very similiar in size to the Uk. He said he could drive from one side of Idaho to another without seeing the history or landscape that the UK had in buckets.

GoodLife26 · 28/06/2026 14:02

What a load of rubbish! There are so many beautiful places to visit in the Britain. A few suggestions:
Lake District
Yorkshire Dales
York
Whitby
Peak District
Cotswolds
Stratford-upon-Avon
Bath
Norfolk coast
London
Dorset
Edinburgh
Anglesey
Cornwall

PestoPastaLife · 28/06/2026 14:03

As someone who has lived in London, Oxford and Windsor, I’d take a few less tourists thanks very much.

Natsku · 28/06/2026 14:12

I've just come home from a holiday in the UK, was nearly a month there and it still wasn't long enough for all I wanted to see and do. There are so many interesting places to visit in the UK, and historical sites, and fun amusement parks, and lovely seasides - I could come over every summer and never get bored! This trip we went to the West country for a week and did not go to even half the places I wanted to, day in Oxford, another in Cambridge, and plenty of time by the seaside and felt like we had to leave far too soon.

southerngirl10 · 28/06/2026 14:22

We live in a rather odd country. The beautiful places are in the south west, middle and north, yet most people live in the south east which is the boring bit. I had family come to see us and couldn't think of much to do here unless we spent a shedload of money on an overpriced day out, or went on the crowded roads with all the other traffic. Tourists flood to this area, as well. I suppose money attracts money

PintofFizz · 28/06/2026 14:44

Vlad never came back.

Ohhh really? It's DS2's firm choice. I love the Abbey (used to live in a tiny village outside Bath).

I mean ewww, gross, tourists wouldn't want to go there, it's vile and boring and whatnot. 😉

Yes it is soooo lovely, at the start all of the students are in the Abbey then they open to doors to allow the procession of professors etc who walk down the aisle can't say there was many dry eyes. The Abbey is just an awesome place I am sure your DS will have the most wonderful years there like DD did.

I've been all over Europe and London is still my favourite capital city. We have some beautiful cities full of history like York, Winchester, Bath etc. And we have the Lake District/Peak District/Yorkshire Moors/Snowdonia/Scottish Highlands/Cotswolds/Chilterns/Cornwall....and much more! So no, I don't think the UK is boring! I also don't agree people coming from abroad think it's boring either. Where I live it is close to London and also has great links to all the above mentioned places. I work with people who deliberately moved here so they could explore the UK. So there! 😄

I seriously doubt that this post is genuine. There have been so many similar ones recently. Boiling vegetables comes to mind but there are others.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/06/2026 15:54

York was a massive CGI illusion yesterday then.

ButterPiesAreGreat · 28/06/2026 16:22

Come. On! I don’t know who you are talking to but honestly I am on several Facebook groups related to travel and tons of people have questions about coming to the UK, travelling around the UK, places to visit and they just love it.
Italy seems very popular and so is Switzerland (until people work out how expensive that is!) but I’d say there’s as much talk about the UK as there is about France.

You are goading.
Dont be so ignorant. The UK is full of history, charm and amazing places to visit.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 27/06/2026 16:46

Agreed. The one benefit of living in such a shithole is that when I go to London it's nice and empty because nobody ever visits.

Agreed. Indeed, please tell all your friends so that we can keep London to ourselves to wallow in the general awfulness. And Bath, York, Edinburgh, all the National Trust sites, the Jurassic Coast, most of Wales and Scotland (goodness all those stunning tediously boring castles). Yes, please, stay away!

BauhausOfEliott · 28/06/2026 16:42

Oh, do grow up.

ChicLeFreak · 28/06/2026 17:06

Sick and tired of fake people spouting nonsense about the UK. It's rage bait, and a pathetic attempt. 'Joseline' can't even respond to anyone to back up 'her' claims.

bluewhitebluewhite · 28/06/2026 17:41

Yeah no OP. The UK is consistently in the top ten most visited countries in the world. I notice you haven’t returned to defend your afternoon in the sun with a bottle of Prosecco inspired post.

hahabahbag · 28/06/2026 17:44

I was in Germany 2 days ago, they were surprised we were visiting there when our country (uk) is so much nicer, grass is greener perhaps…
