Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

@U53rName i think she has colitis or crohns,
her cancer was found during planned surgery, for an existing condition, so I’d guess one of those. I have cousins with both. Floors them.

I haven’t been able to work with my condition for 30 years, whereas others have been. And this year, it’s been back with a vengeance. Everyone is different.

I agree. She only made the announcement about her illness because the awful SM campaign orchestrated by Sussex supporters, “Where’s Kate?”, forced her hand when she must have wanted to tell her young children in her own time. It was a shocking episode, with all the trans-Atlantic celebrity mockery and absolute silence from HAM, despite their hypocritical speeches about SM bullying. They just sat back and let it run. Horrible. I don’t see William ever forgiving that - on top of the rest!

I think it’s likely there is an underlying condition, as you say, which is debilitating in itself without the worry of cancer. My BIL has colitis and is checked all the time for cancer. It’s a horrible condition.

i don’t like commenting on appearances but yes, C has looked drawn in the recent past and this reminds me of my BIL and my colleague who had Crohn’s.

My point is - none of us know what the state of her health is. She’s looking so much better just recently, thank goodness. I cannot get my head round pps who tell us “she’s in remission- no more excuses!” How stupid of them to think they know the full picture.

Recklessismymiddlename · 05/10/2026 07:27

It’s like people who tell me you look well. Well yes, because they are the days I manage to drag myself out. For the one day I do that, I know, I have to rest two days before and at least 2/3 days after. It’s not that easy.

That’s so tough. Every person’s experience of illness is different and only foolish people tell others how they should be feeling, or chivvy unwell people to pull their socks up.

C was forced to tell the world something of her health problems but I’m sure she didn’t tell the whole story - that’s her business. No-one knows the state of her health and past speculation about an eating disorder is just ignorant - some conditions make it very hard to put on or even maintain weight.

Also just to add Markle cashed in on the royal family while still married to Hazbeen.

Chelsy walked away from the Royal Family & never once slated them or said anything derogatory to the press about Harry or his family. She was too good for him & I am so happy she got away & is enjoying her gorgeous life.

As an African woman the Royal Family would have been a massive culture shock to Chelsea but she never batted an eyelid.

Like Catherine Chelsy came from a very supportive loving family. Harry mentions in Spare how much he loved going to Zimbabwe & catching up with Chelsea's parents..

Funny that he has never even met his father in law Mr Markle...

strange that you insist on calling Meghan just Markle.
yet Chelsy gets her first names used.
even Meghans "poor" dad gets a Mr.
shows that thread was just a wind up.

Not strange at all - Markle doesn't deserve respect after the appalling way she's behaved

Yes I refer to Thomas Markle as Mr Markle to differentiate him from Markle.
Chelsy Davy didn't do anything to offend the British public & when her relationship with Hazbeen ended she moved on with her life & never felt the need to tell her "truth" or sell stories!
Also as an African woman the Royal Family was a completely different concept for Chelsy & she handled it perfectly, no problem. Chelsy was great!

I agree. And some people have absolutely no fucking shame. I am embarrassed for them, even if they have long ago forgiven themselves.

I remember it was almost - but not quite- funny when the stupid celebrities who had jumped on the bullying bandwagon with their “Where’s Kate?” posts had to backtrack and express sympathy and concern. They showed us who they were, didn’t they?

I suspect they were the #Be Kind sort of people.

fuschiaproudparrot · 05/10/2026 12:08

U53rName · 05/10/2026 06:16

If you’ll read the quote, Nono said that she’s the least working royal. Fenella replied that it’s because Catherine had cancer. I said that she’s been in remission for over 2 years, which is apparently out of order—how dare I? And I responded that people up and down the country get back to work after cancer.

Is cancer the same for everyone then? Are the end results the same for everyone ? I didn't realise that.

Ladyymuck · 05/10/2026 12:10

Tabbytiger122 · 18/09/2026 06:24

If they are not serving & working for the taxpayers we are under no obligation to fund them. They left the rf to become private citizens. They have made millions in commercial deals with Spotify, Netflix etc so are more than able to fund their own security, not our problem.

Harry and Meghan do fund their own security but can’t fund armed security in the UK because strict gun control laws here prohibit private citizens and private bodyguards from carrying guns.

As others have said a thread about Kate but in reality yet another thread bashing Meghan.

Poor Catherine, though - being put through that ordeal in public…and internationally, AND being the subject of such a nasty campaign when she had a life-threatening illness. No wonder she looked stressed.

Blake Lively let her mask slip. It was before the Baldoni lawsuit. Always liked her before that.

Yes, she was one and Stephen Colbert was another…and some whose names I didn’t know!

I mean, why on earth did they even get involved? What had it got to do with them where the UK Princess of Wales was? Pure pile-on bullying. Let’s hope for their sake they felt some shame.

Will in that case they should have stayed in California where they can get it rather than come back to the U.K & expect the British taxpayers fork out for it. Not our problem

Many of them were repped by WME, as was Meghan and it’s not out of the realm of possibility that it was coordinated to raise her profile.

I don’t care for the comparison of these two women. They are wholly different and comparing them gives credence to the idea that their roles and personages are relevant to each other. They are not.

No more than one should compare Bridget Bardot and Queen Elizabeth.

She’s gotten that and plenty. But this was a thread about Catherine and if it was just created to bash Meghan then it’s not a nice way to use Catherine.

Edited

It's just an observation as to both women's suitability for the roles they married into.
Catherine can get on with the job in hand, never complain, never be controversial, say anything derogatory about her in-laws & has never sold out the Royal Family.

Markle is not suitable for the role. Anyone who sells out their in laws while still married into the family is a liability.

Chelsy also left the Royal Family folds without the need to sell her story .. as I mentioned above the Royal Family must have felt completely strange to African Chelsy but she managed just fine.

OP posts:
TheOvertGardener · 05/10/2026 13:39

No, I don’t agree that comparing women is acceptable in any way. This is not a pagent. One woman’s worth is not measured based on her behaviour compared to another. Their roles are not remotely similar, either.
