Kate & The Middletons

I am currently reading Russsll Myers Catherine & William. Enjoying it but one thing that stands out is how the Middletons have never put a foot wrong.
Carole was not from an aristocratic background nor was Michael but they raised their kids not to put a step wrong. Kate also had embarrassing family members (Uncle Gary) but she still invited him to the wedding which was the right thing to do & it nipped the media scandal in the bud & took the wind out of any sails.. Meghan invited none of her extended family or her dad & it caused massive media speculation.
Kate was born for royal life & is a natural. Very proud of our future queen. Her parents did an amazing job.

How do you know that Doria is not close to the dc? Or are you just assuming she isn’t? I am sure they can afford aeroplane tickets!

I would really hope Doria is still in those poor kids lives as it's so sad that they have never met their grandfather (the one who isn't king & who has begged to meet them), no relationship with their aunt & uncle William & Catherine, no contact with their first cousins Charlotte, George & Louis.. KC has met them but will Camilla have any interest in a relationship especially after Ham's awful attacks on the royal family .
All the lovely events the Hamlets can't go to because of their parents awful chaotic & dysfunctional behaviour.

I’m sure H regrets that he has effectively shut his children out of the kind of experiences which their cousins have. At the time of Megxit he claimed to despise it as a trap, but I think it’s dawned on him that his actions then have consequences now for his children.

I have never seen her referred to as a Saint.
Perhaps you can provide some links to these articles with positive press, which is "more than she deserves"?
Just to add; you are incorrect with your comparison to the Royals "in their 80s".
You have also possibly forgotten that she was off with treatment for cancer.

Edited

The cancer treatment ended in mid-2024. She’s been in remission since September 2024, which is 2+ years ago.

Ok. I can't believe you've actually posted that.
I think that ends the thread for me.
Do have a good evening.

Yes as well as the three Wales children it's also the wider family like Peter & Zara, Beatrice & Eugenie, Freddie Windsor & all the closest aristos who will not want to piss off the future king.
The penny must have dropped that they have alienated their poor children from high society. Whatever about Markle she has cut off all her family but for Hazbeen it must sting now.

Sorry but I always think it a little arrogant to assume you know better what dc need than their own parents.

The children won’t miss what they have ever had.

I can certainly understand them wanting to keep the dc away from the Markles, Thomas included, especially after what he said at the end of that documentary about it being his turn to cash in or words to that effect? I mean, who says that about their own dd? And who tries to make money out of their DD’s own wedding fhs?

And although others on here may disagree, I can understand Harry wanting his dc to give some members of the RF a wide berth too!

Please don’t let gross comments like that run you off. It’s awful but don’t want voices like that to become the main ones here.

Meghan didn’t understand the role at all. I blame her arrogant dismissal of offered help but also Harry’s sheer hopelessness as a mentor to her. She never seems to think she has anything to learn from anyone and possibly thought “I’ll show them how it’s done!”. But she didn’t get it at all.

Classic narcissist

Maybe H & M don’t want their dc to be in high society exclusively? Maybe they want them to mix with a wider group of people? Who knows?

Are you sure that Harry doesn’t still see Zara and her family?

Do any of us know for sure?

Sorry but I really dislike it when people start making judgements about how children are raised when they don’t know the family concerned from Adam!

CoffeeCantata · 04/10/2026 20:19

@Pipedreams607
None of us knows for sure - we are speculating about some things - but I have to say, I find the Sussex’s return very hard to comprehend unless there was some regret there about cutting the children off from the royal experience. I get the impression that H is impulsive and doesn’t think things through. I don’t think he thought very far ahead when trumpeting the Freedom Flight to the world.

My guess is that, from his pov, the American plan hasn’t worked out and he’s looking back to his old royal life. He probably wishes his children could ride in carriages and wave from the balcony - I’m sure that was why he set up the meeting with KC at Highgrove - hoping that his father would spontaneously say “The children must join us for something!” But the letter the king sent put paid to that.

This is pure speculation, but to me it fits the events and explains their otherwise bizarre return to the despised UK.

Why can’t you believe it? Remission means the cancer is gone. Cancer survivors (including my sister BTW) have to get straight back to work. That’s the way it is for survivors up and down the country.

It was widely reported that he was not invited to Peter Phillips wedding so I would imagine the royals have closed ranks out of loyalty to William & Catherine.
I also imagine they would close ranks out of pure self preservation, Ham have proved time & time again they are not to be trusted God knows what stories they could sell about their cousins if they were given access.

I'd imagine Markle is absolutely desperate to get the Hamlets mixing in the upper echleons remember this is the same person that invited none of her family to her wedding but invited the Clooneys who had never even met her!

The RF will never trust them again, especially since it was suspected that M and probably H were wearing concealed mics to the Platinum Jubilee service. They also seated Major Johnnie, the handsome equerry, right behind them.

No way, William & Catherine will do everything they can to protect their children & their privacy so there is no way Ham will be allowed back in the fold under any circumstances.
They have proved time & time again they are not to be trusted. Discretion is one of the traits the royal family values more than anything, thankfully Catherine & the Middletons have it in spades..

Yes the royal family are very good at closing ranks. It’s one of their most practiced manoeuvres.

Well I'm thoroughly enjoying watching them close ranks to keep Ham well & truly on the outside where they belong!
Long may the ranks stay shut to the "private citizens"!

I remember it by analogy with advise and advice: S for the verb and C for the noun.
