The royal family

Could someone please explain to me - H&M related

Could someone please explain to me how Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK will work out.
They’re very unpopular with the British public.
Unless Doria moves over to the UK, Meghan has no family support.
Harry has burned so many bridges with his family.
His friends, those that are remaining, will have to choose between supporting Harry or supporting William and apparently they have had quite a aristocratic friends in common.
William will be the King so I presume he will be supported by many of those mutual friends.
Will the first cousins, George, Charlotte, Louis, Archie and Lilibet ever meet up ?
Apart from probably funerals.
Not my monkey not my circus I know, but it is a mess.

Are they unpopular? Frankly I know why they left, the press/paparazzi making snide comments about Meghan all the time, comparing her unfavourably to Kate, they felt they had no choice but to go.

Now they want to to come back, Charles is not well and getting on in years and they want to build bridges and bring their children back. Families should not be estranged if it can be avoided and I hope the press gets off their backs this time.

I don't care one way or the other tbh, I don't like them, I don't hate them ... I don't know them.

I don’t think H&M will regularly meet up with anyone who’s involved with the actual royals. Harry might occasionally attend some very structured events where he will talk to people he knows from his past etc, but I’m sure it’ll be very surface level.
He must be, without a doubt, regretting his decision, not to be with Meghan because he’s clearly very devoted to her, but regret surrounding what his children will have to look back on and get their heads around when they’re older. I imagine the kids will meet their cousins at some point, and clearly enjoy their company because that’s what kids of their age are like, they won’t care or have a comprehension of the trouble between all their parents (maybe George a little bit), and they will undoubtedly want to see more of their cousins, it’s not like they have any on meghans side. And this will cause problems beyween M&H. And I think there may be issues eventually in terms of custody. Harry must have begged her to move back for this to all be happening. There’s no way he can enjoy the company if her so called friends (if it’s anything like her god awful Netflix series), and so he will enjoy being back here, feel more at home again, and eventually possibly make amends with some of the royals, if not all of them, which Meghan will be unable to cope with, she’ll feel less in control, and she’ll leave. How the kids will be educated and where they will live god only knows.

as you say not our monkey but god it’ll make good viewing!!!

I am miserable to think they've come back. It was bad enough when they were thousands of miles away.

I don't think they can be allowed back into royal life. They've blabbed family secrets, been slanderous and libellous, bitched and made appalling allegations (which have been shown to be lies) and basically shown they haven't got the character required. H is highly indiscreet and emotionally unstable. M is manipulative and malevolent.

But they have brass necks for coming back! I hope they'll live completely private lives...but we know that's unlikely. They HAVE to have attention, or they wither away. My theory is that they are desperate (having rubbished the RF, told William he is trapped, whinged on about the institution and the 'men in grey suits') for their children to be 'royal'. I can hear them both whining 'But why should George, Charlotte and Louis be royal when our prince and princess can't join in?' Well, because you rudely rejected royal life and told the world it was toxic and then flounced off to paradise - that's why.

How can their children be 'royal' if their parents are not working royals? How could that work? They just haven't thought it through, have they?

I wish they'd just go away and live the private lives they claimed they wanted.

We’ve gone from we can’t possibly it’s not safe to we’re coming back…….

OhBotherSaidPoo · Today 16:34

God I wish I was a fly on the wall at Balmoral.

The complete and utter brass neck of them. Harry has burnt his bridges, truly burnt them all to the ground. Meghan has shown herself to be a vapid attention seeking idiot.
No one is going to trust them. And in those circles, trust is everything.

Snorlaxo · Today 16:42

We don’t know what they want.

Best case scenario is that they are invited to church services and the like but live non working royal lives like the Tindalls. Hopefully the kids (as minors) will just get oohs and ahhs like when the Tindall kids attend events.

Nightmare scenario is that they return to working royal duties and out themselves in the cross hairs of the tabloids who will love the rage bait and click bait that this will provide. Everyone will be pissed off that the status quo has changed and the Sussexes who clearly have a live-hate relationship with the press will both love the attention but also hate that they will constantly compare them to the Wales’ and want to discuss what happened when they lived in the US. Despite complaining that his family court the media is the parties, Harry will do the same so that some journalists print sympathetic stuff. I predict that papers will print both anti and pro Sussex stuff so that the algorithms catch everyone interested.

Hoenstly if the private life of total strangers is making you miserable, you need to get out more, literally or figuratively.

Dint open the news articles, turn the TV over, don't open the threads and itl lbr like they never existed.

If you can guarantee they will live private lives, I'll cheer up.

But I think it's more likely that you or I could fly to the moon on a broomstick.

I see endless, endless rubbish about them - it's all over everywhere already. I went to the supermarket earlier and every paper and mag was covered in them.

The press will hound them, the paps will snap them and nasty columnists will make money out of pitting HAMs against WACs, whether either couple like it or not.

I never thought they'd DARE to show their faces here again. Yuk.

Should add that your response is very silly!

Of course the lives/doings of 'total strangers' can upset us, especially if those 'total strangers' are nasty pieces of work.

No, you are upsetting yourself. Figure out why and your life will be happier.

Also, try to understand the idea that rag merchants are in the business of selling rags. This may help you gain a sense of perspective on the whole business.

Has it ever occurred to you that there are people in conference rooms rubbing their greasy hands together at the narrative they are pushing and estimating how long they can keep flogging this particular horse before even the British public grows weary of it?

No, you're choosing to engage and put yourself into a position of being upset.

The ye not being mean to you. They're not murdering puppies. They're not in your home.

You're giving them space to live in your head, imagining all the bad things they've done to the people you don't know and how they'll continue to do bad things to people you don't know. But those bad things are basically shit family drama.

Strangers can have a negative impact on your life, just look at Trump! But only when the actions they take negatively affect something you have no control about.

Putting you in a bad mood cos you're thinking poor William must be so angry and how is pooor George going to concentrate at school and ooh I bet Catherine is having a right rant on the phone to Pippa is your life choice

They will be everywhere. Tv, newspaper. She will be on loose women soon. Sick of this already to be honest

SummerNocturnal · Today 18:10

If I were to guess, then it will go along the lines of:

  1. Moving back and initial distraction of new school, house, settling kids etc
  2. Reverse culture shock and reading negative things online
  3. Putting a brave face on and trying to settle including work, him Invictus, her filming The Gentlemen if rumours are true
  4. Reaching out to any of his own friends and catching up rather than mutual ones with William
  5. Seeing his dad when he gets an appointment
  6. Attending some events while feeling things out
  7. Selling Montecito and paying off ANL
  8. If lucky, cooking a chicken, having whatever home comforts he's missed, gritting his teeth and getting on with it
  9. Unlikely their kids will see cousins or him his brother, and Christmas will be low-key
10. Likely both will have to manage crappy weather and chronic depression

I will be in the minority, but I feel bloody sorry for all of them.

incrediblyincredible · Today 18:22

I do feel a bit sorry for them actually, despite thinking they deserve whatever issues they’re dealing with emotionally. Their actions and interviews were all just two people who were utterly miserable with a lot of issues and resentment, what kind of life is that!?
However they could feel resentment, grief for lost parents etc, and speak to therapists… Why drag the royal family through the mill and make themselves look totally rude (thinking Meghan dutchess of success with Prince and princess children doing a piss take courtesy with a camera on Harry’s face as she does it) whilst dealing with their own issues, and let’s face it they were their OWN issues, no one else’s.

incrediblyincredible · Today 18:23

I feel sorry for William and Kate. They really didn’t need this.

EssCarGo · Today 18:25

Are they unpopular? I don’t know anyone who gives a single fuck. Do they even need to be popular? They could just…y’know, get jobs.

petermaddog · Today 18:29

his visa RAN OUT

amylou8 · Today 18:31

Well something is going on, because up until now H has had a massive issue with security, M thinks we're racist, and neither appeared to have any intention of returning ever.
Then almost overnight they're on their way back.
So either the US are revoking H's visa, or he's decided he needs to get his feet back under the table pronto before William becomes king, removes his title, and sends him to the Tower Of London.

Onlyfornow · Today 18:31

Always worth remembering the little boy - 12 years old - who walked behind his mother’s coffin in any discussion about Harry. He deserves a break, as does his wife. They’re coming here to work. So…leave them alone?

Pansykavalier · Today 18:34

I expect there will be some degree of reconciliation with the king. Charles has limited life expectancy and Harry is his son after all - plus he will want to see his grandchildren.

Other than that H&M may find themselves left out of the wider family. William will keep his private counsel and avoid them. However, I hope he will be magnanimous enough to allow some contact between his children and Harry’s. Hopefully they’ll also have some contact with the Tindall children. It would be very sad if Harry’s children were to have little or no opportunities to mix with their cousins.

canuckup · Today 18:41

It just gets better and better though doesn't it

Like a soap opera

And those poor kids!!!! God bless the paparazzi and all those pics from the back

canuckup · Today 18:42

No way will William avoid Harry

Blood is thicker etc etc

ElsiePiddockSkipsinherSleep · Today 18:47

I’m not sure why it’s an issue. They’re relocating as thousands of families do. I’m sure he’ll see his dad but if he’s estranged from his brother, there’s absolutely no need for them to reconcile. The kids will make plenty of friends - no cousins needed. Going NC seems very popular on MN, after all.

I hope it works out well for them.

You'd think at some point he'd grow up.

Need what? How is this going to affect them negatively? Surely William and Kate will just carry on as normal.
