It's the morning going by the breakfast cooking so if they're pissed that's a bit concerning, especially since they are parenting two young children.

I'd question how much of the 'parenting' these two are actually doing.

Is your living room a very long way from your kitchen?!

The East wing is rather a long way from the working part of the house... 😉

Curlygirl06 · 05/08/2026 15:29

I'm on holiday from work and I've been ill ever since, nothing serious just a very annoying cold.
However I've sort of cleaned the bathrooms, been down town for a trawl round the charity shops and bought some things (I'm so blessed I can make a difference to the various charities, so humble) and I'm about to make my dinner.

Happy birthday to whoever it was who said it was their birthday.

They have nannies. Obviously we don't know but I cannot see them as good/functional parents at all tbh. It's all performative. H famously lazy and doesn't like mornings so the whole night feeds/ nappy changes would pass him by.

BasiliskStare · 05/08/2026 16:21

You see , this is the thing with me. I don't give two hoots if H&M well mainly M post constant photos about themselves.

I do think they are treading a very fine line with photos of their children - W&C post birthday etc photos and ( I think I said it before ) as @IcedPurple said - it just knocks the wind out of papazzi's sails. Showing the backs of the children's head could be 1) we're keeping them private or 2) dangling in that the first pap shot will be worth a lot.

I don't know the legal rules in California for publishing children's faces. Maybe no-one is allowed to do it. But let's not pretend that given M seems to be going down the Homemaker / cooking / lifestyle branding , any photos of her children are going to bolster that. As is describing your children's nascent personalities to sell a candle.

I may be wrong but I'm not inclined to believe them when they speak of children on the internet OK - no faces - OK they may not have tablets / I Phones / other devices . But there is stuff out there which M has posted which can never be taken back.

I wouldn't do it , but I don't make my living and never have from flogging my lifestyle. I think they are rightly subject to accusations of hypocrisy. To me , hiding the faces doesn't cut it. In fact it would make any photographer who got the first not released by H&M photo of the children more valuable (if it were allowed to be sold)

Beesandhoney123 · 05/08/2026 16:26

I very much hope the kids have nice normal nannies. I doubt it though. I expect its a revolving door as she is said to be quite the bully.

IcedPurple · 05/08/2026 12:57

That video! Why does she always have disembodied voice and grunts? It's weird.

And are we meant to be impressed by that unappetising looking breakfast? Doughnuts and tomatoes? Yuck!

I was wondering if the donuts were actually really horrible bagels. The ones in the frozen aisle are travesties of bagels.

DaisyDooley · 05/08/2026 16:37

@BasiliskStare @Scorchio84
SHIT!!!
I didn’t realise it didn’t happen if I didn’t post it on insta!
Should I do it in black and white??

I'm just worrying about who is going to scoop up the deflated balloons from the water and the possible pollution issues they may cause. Hardly environmentally friendly.

She and Harry forcibly relocated that wild duck family a few years ago for a photo OP. Neither of them seem to be knowledgeable about wildlife.

Harry is just skilled at blasting them out of the sky with a gun.

Funnily enough I knew someone who said the same about Catherine. She doesn’t exude the same charisma on camera but in the flesh the servicemen were all a bit bewitched by her.

I think the reverse might be true of MM, she clearly didn’t make too much of an impression in person or her acting career would have taken off sooner but she’s very photogenic. She has lovely dark eyes, by far her best feature I would say.

Nice as Kate is I don’t think you can put her in the same class as Princess Diana in terms of charisma or aura.

Cismyfatarse · 05/08/2026 17:07

Meghan is 45 — and Harry says, ‘Oh dear!’

@DaisyDooley - I don't do the Gram or whatever it is called . I will believe you that you re channeling your inner Domestic Goddess , because if you put it on instagram I wouldn't see it. 😂 I'm not sure anything other than squid ink pasta would show up better in black and white.

I did read something once , it might have been Nigella or , someone else. Proper food photographers will put all sorts of stuff on the food for the photograph , mainly for books , but it essentially makes the food inedible. So ( I'm making this up here - creosote on a chicken to make it look all lovely and crisp on the outside, )

I'll give you a by here Daisy because I love your informed RF jewellery posts. Do you think on Style and Beauty we could have Jaqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis jewellery ?
I'll start it if you would join in - I don't know enough to do it myself

Short derail
Sorry all

They do all sorts of tricks to make the food look appealing - which is why most non professional food photography usually looks a bit blah.

One of the best ways to create that appealing steam affect on ‘piping hot food’ is to soak a tampon in water and then microwave it - stuff in behind or inside the food and that creates a decent amount of steam.

I loathe these helium-wasting, pollutant-producing, plastic-tangling, landfill-headed, wildlife-killing, unnecessary balloons.

Why are the Sussexes promoting them? They should be discouraging them and discouraging waste. Wankers.

And it will sink without trace just like the polo documentary and the Invictus series.

There's no real market for that sort of thing.

What happened to Meet Me at the Lake and Mrs Haversham?

I haven't heard that one but I can believe it . Proper experienced food photographers who are doing something to look good in a book , as I understand it , go to many lengths .

By the by I think Helium balloons have been frowned upon my many (at least in the UK ) for many years now.

Also was she not going to launch As Ever in Australia? Though It would be a bit bonkers to sell wine to Australia surely.

I’ve not been well which is why my poor Jewellry thread has been lacking over the last week.
I’ll post something later today if I can.
Regarding JBK - yes of course I will post.
Can you start it after the weekend? It’s my birthday and I’m hoping to do some nice stuff -I’ll have more time next week. I’ve got the auction house catalogue from the sale of JBK posessions so I can take pictures of the pictures and post them. It was shocking what Caroline and John jr sold though. So many posessions that I was shocked they sold.
So yes - happy to help. Tag me in it or dm me. Dm me if you want to discuss what sort of things you want in the thread.

Sorry to mini derail @BigWillyLittleTodger .

Also was she not going to launch As Ever in Australia? Though It would be a bit bonkers to sell wine to Australia surely.

When I was in Australia the vast majority of the wines sold were Australian or from New Zealand.
There was some old world wine but I cannot see it taking off there. Why would it? It would be like trying to break into the French market.
Also in Australia you buy alcohol from what we would call off licences - supermarkets do not sell alcohol. So no opportunity to ‘bunch together’ wine, fruit spread, matches, crepe mix, dried flowers etc.

That kind of business is really hard to run
In Australia from outside Australia. Look at how long it took Amazon to get a hold. I can't imagine it would make financial sense for her to even try it.

Just reporting what I was told!

I’m inclined to agree with you, I’ve been watching some very vintage telly recently through the magic of YouTube. There’s a few good programmes on Diana and fashion.

We tend to remember her in those awful frou frou numbers from her engagement and early marriage but she very quickly found her style and she was supremely elegant.

I love that she had short hair too, not enough of it about!

Oh I love this!! I read or heard it on the radio about this! That's some trick though @wordler I never heard that one! But yeah spaying all sort like baby oil on apple blah.. yuck! but you're right it does make the photos really "POP!" (sorry I hate that expression but it fits here

Also @BasiliskStare that thread would be immense 😍
