Why does Harry need to announce his visit to Canada ?

Harry has announced he will visit Canada for Invictus events .
The announcement is made while the POW is in Brazil undertaking important official business including representing KC at COP.
His spokesperson says the announcement had to be made at short notice for security reasons !
If this non working royal has security concerns , why announce it at all ?

Oh give over! The announcement also said it had been in the books for months precisely to avoid speculation of this sort. He’s allowed to visit his charities. It’s what he said he would do when he left the RF. The press are making it in to some big rivalry, not Harry!

But why the need to announce it if it has been arranged for months ? Of course he is allowed to visit his charities but no need to make a statement beforehand!
I understood that there was now an agreement not to announce diary clashes ?

OP what exactly is your worry here? Why does is matter that it clashes with William's important official business? I am confused.

William is not an amateur and has an entire apparatus behind him. Why does it matter, or why does is bother you what Harry is doing or announcing?

I think Harry visiting Canada is the least of the RF problems. They have other pressing issues like keeping onside with the public after the shitshow of the last few days

My question is why does he feel he needs to make these announcements?
He decided he didn’t want to comply with the rules and traditions of the RF and flounced off so by his own actions he is no longer a working member .
Of course he can do charity work but why not stay under the radar if he is so paranoid about his security ??

Does anyone know what the “security and protection reasons” are that meant it had to be announced? I would have thought if safety was an issue then you’d do the opposite and keep it quiet.

I'd agree that announcing the visit is a very strange way of ensuring securiry, OTOH I guess it's possible the charity thinks there's little to no value in having a low profile visit...

He's got to continue acting like he's a statesman or royal. Otherwise he is pointless to the world. And then the cash stops coming in.

Clearly the OP cares enough to start a thread about it. I hadn’t seen this announcement but if I had I would have thought ‘oh ok’ and got on with my day like most other people. It’s the full time Harry and Meghan haters who make any kind of a deal about this.

They probably announce these things because of the people who jump on it straight away give them immediate publicity.

You don't have to be a working royal to announce a trip/public appearance. Now that there's SM, nonentities do it all the time. Are we going to bother over every Tom, Dick, and Harry announcing a trip abroad - or just Harry?
